Peterbilt 359 Restoration Ep.68 You Don’t Need Proper Tools

So now that the 4-speed auxiliary transmission is back from its rebuild at the Gear Center (thanks Josh!) its time to get it back in the truck. Once I solved how to get it in the shop and mounted on the trans jack, I then discovered I had to modify some Peterbilt engine mounts to make them work on the rear support. Then my dad came over and help build me some new work benches. Then I finish up by putting new u-joints on the forward driveshaft and installing it in the truck and then adding some new 50 weight synthetic transmission oil. Ready for another million miles!
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for all the comments, suggestions, and support!
Keep in mind, I know a little about a lot but not an expert in anything … just doing the best I can, learning as I go ... I do all my own stunts
Enjoy watching the progress of this ongoing Peterbilt 359 restoration the Kenworth W900A Smokey and the Bandit tribute project, and the upcoming #IronDuke Kenworth K100 cabover I’m planning to build up like the one used in the 70’s trucking movie High Ballin’ with Jerry Reed and Peter Fonda.

Budget saving idea for your bench. Pour Elmer’s glue on the top and when it dries it will be an “epoxy type” coating.

Pull the bolt and chain out of the cherry picker and the other tube should slide into the boom on the picker and line the hole in the inner tube with one on the outer. . The bolt then goes through the appropriate hole for the weight you want to lift.

    G'day Mark,,
Ive used oven cleaner for years on my bikes,
it moves the greasy heavy stuff way better ,,,i use a brush to help break up the sludge & get into the hard to reach places, then leave it for 5 mins to work ....or longer if its needed.
DO NOT USE OVEN CLEANER ON ALUMINIUM....
The over cleaner is a very strong alkali, and will quickly turn alloy dull ,,,or black .
    Respect
    from
    Down Under

those bushings were either radiator supports or charge air, if you ever have to remove the driveline you will kick your own butt for not using antiseeze in the yokes, also dont forget if a trucker brought it a mechanic fixed it to get it there.

The oven cleaner works because it's a "caustic" formula. The degreaser is just a modified solvent.
You have to be careful with the oven cleaner on rubber and plastic parts and you have to, HAVE TO rinse the whole working area with water or the caustic chemicals will just keep eating away at whatever it can. If you can, get under there with a garden hose or pressure washer and flush anything that might be left over, especially on your hydraulic and airlines and any wiring you might have hit.

Hey Mark if you watch one of Flannel Philip's recent videos;where herebuilds his 3 chime train horns on his 1997 Kenworth W900L,you will see why having the 3 chime train horns mounted somewhere underneath the truck;is not really a great idea in the long run.The train horns he has on his 1997 Kenworth W900L,are the real deal;they are Nathan Airchime P3 train horns, brand new they are not cheap. He bought them from a friend who is a model railroader;who has connections to friends that used to work in the Union Pacific rail yards, that used to be employees at Union Pacific and took the 3 chime horns;off of the roof of an old decommissioned GE EMD GP40 locomotive that was being scrapped. He recently rebuilt his train horns;with new diaphragms,
o rings, stainless steel bolts & washers, because they were full of dirt & grime from the road;from how he had them mounted on the frame rail on his truck, with the trumpets facing the road. After he rebuilt the train horns,he mounted them to the cross member underneath the 36 inch coffin sleeper of his truck;so they will stay clean in the long run.I think you should think about maybe mounting the train horns onto the deck plate,or on the roof cap of the truck.I have seen TH-cam videos of some working show quality trucks;with 3 chime train horns mounted on the roof cap.The problem is;how do you mount them to the roof cap without it leaking whenever it rains?.
The Nathan 3 chime train horns Flannel Phillip has on his truck, has room for two more horns;which would make them 5 chime horns.
