Same here. These Arctic research stores especially have the perfect setting for isolation and no help coming that can make any monsters or villains just that much more terrifying. Definitely makes for a good creepypasta.
My favorite line was, "Polar Bears don't knock in patterns." .... I really wanted one of the other characters to become sarcastic, "How the f-ck do you know? Deal with a lot of knocking polar bears?" :P
Makes no sense why Matt and reed changed who wanted to leave so quickly. Like… why is he suddenly arguing with the man after trying so desperately to get out himself???
Honestly feels like he was just the designated 'bad guy' of the story rather than a character. switching his opinions to the opposite of what seemed sensible to the mc at any given moment just to show how rational and cool-headed the mc is in comparison
I think it was the artifact changing them to keep them all inside and insane. The main character figured it out and calmed down but the other two were going insane.
Because one broke out of the spell while fear grew more and more on the other, as much as he wanted to leave originally, he never could, so why would he, being worse off now??
This is a bit of a niche thing to be reminded of by this story but does this one remind anyone else of the Amnesia custom story Final Revelations? Wasn't the artifact described here basically the artifact in that mod? Like, once you touch it/stay near it for a long time, you start hallucinating, hearing whispers, etc. and half of the scares in the middle third of the story are hallucinations from the artifact? I remember in particular at one point when I played that hearing a warped voice whispering "you have met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" which is a Ben Drowned reference and that made me so excited lol. This might be only in the remaster because that's the version of this mod I played but even so that was the particular memory this story brought my mind to. I should re-play that custom story sometime.

That’s what I was thinking the whole time, not that it would have made a difference. Also I would have been comforted in the knowledge that what ever “it” was, never got in as the prior team died of starvation
The part at 8:19 gave me goosebumps. What could they have seen out there to make them barricade themselves like that? 😱 This feels bigger than just isolation-maybe they weren’t alone in the Arctic... Thoughts?
