The first video ever uploaded was "Me at the zoo" by Jawed Karim on April 23, 2005. This simple video marked the beginning of a new era in digital media. TH-cam's user-friendly interface and the ability to upload videos easily attracted a rapidly growing user base.
In November 2006, Google acquired TH-cam for $1.65 billion in stock, recognizing its potential as a powerful social and marketing tool. This acquisition fueled TH-cam's growth, allowing it to introduce features like the Partner Program, which enabled content creators to monetize their videos through ads.
Over the years, TH-cam has evolved significantly, introducing live streaming, 4K video support, TH-cam Red (now TH-cam Premium), and TH-cam TV. It has become a platform for diverse content, including vlogs, educational videos, music, gaming, and more. Today, TH-cam boasts over 2 billion logged-in monthly users and has become an integral part of global culture, shaping trends and providing a voice for millions.
