    Thank you so much for this video. I was having a hard time understanding how to thread the Singer machine 5050C.
    If you have other videos on how to operate this machine, I would be must grateful.

    OMG you're heaven sent! I bought a second hand machine like this one but the seller didn't send me tutorial how to use it. Thanks. I also want to know how to use different stitches of the machine

    the different camera angles you used made it a lot easier to understand how to do it correctly.

      Thanks! It's pretty important for the thread to follow the exact right path or the stitching may not work correctly, so I took the time to put in lots of close-ups and multiple angles.

    The upper line snaps on my machine, it gets messen up, i think the tensioner is not working. Perhaps some tips I can look for?

    😩🤷🏽‍♀️So Is the Bobbin thread Supposed to Go thru the needle too Or No?

    • @cjhoyle
      @cjhoyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the bobbin thread does not go through the eye of the needle.

    Thank you. That saved me hours of calling and searching for a manual to a machine apparently not even Singer lists manuals for.
    Heads, up! The same steps also apply to the Singer model 9802 C as well.
    Besides, brilliant camera work for an instructional video with utmost clarity.

    During the lockdown I watched a lot of videos about sewing and learned how to do basic sewing, so this just adds to the whole c j hoyle universe. I always say what an interesting life you have.

      Thanks. As someone who likes to make things myself, having a sewing machine has opened up so many possibilities for me. It's also great for doing repairs, like the recumbent seat repair I showed a few weeks back :)

    Many thanks for the explanation on how to thread this sewing machine. I've got one similar, courtesy of my mother. She's passed now, and can no longer answer my questions, but I am grateful to be able to put it to use, finally.

    I have the exact same machine. I know this video is older, but was wondering if you still had the machine and if you know how to adjust the needle alignment? Mine is slightly off center. Thanks

    • @cjhoyle
      @cjhoyle  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      lol I definitely have older videos...I actually consider this to be one of my newer ones! Yes I still have this machine. Are you asking about side to side position of the needle? There's a white slider labeled "Needle position" at the top right of the main front panel. You can use this to centre the needle from side to side.

    • @debintdotf2195
      @debintdotf2195 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the quick reply. My needle isn't dead center when it's set to straight stitch. When I zigzag stitch, the needle moves too far to the left, and not far enough on the right. I hope that makes sense. I've been researching how to manually adjust the alignment of the needle so it's correctly aligned, but haven't had any luck. I thought since you had this exact machine, you might know.

    • @cjhoyle
      @cjhoyle  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@debintdotf2195 Isn't that what the Needle adjustment slider I described is for? It's admittedly been a while since I've played with that particular setting. Best of luck.

    Hi. Good video. My Kenmore stopped working so I brought out this Singer 9805C that was given to me recently. I appreciate your info on the threading-especially the bobbin. BUT, one thing you missed. Hope you don’t mind my saying… there is an indent button on the hand wheel and when you want to fill a bobbin, press it so the needle does not go up and down unnecessarily. 😃

    • @cjhoyle
      @cjhoyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course I don't mind you mentioning that! I actually forgot that feature existed, but hopefully others can benefit by reading your comment.

    Man thanks I have a sewing machine lost on it. I sew things like my hockey gloves and things but making my office TH-cam room I made my own curtains. And my bobbin was messed up. I could not figure it out.

    • @cjhoyle
      @cjhoyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya I can relate. Once you've got things set up correctly, sewing simple things can be pretty easy, but if you don't have the machine running right (skipping stitches or the fabric getting bunched up etc.), it becomes very frustrating.

    I love this video CJ. Your sewing machine is a slightly more modern version of my Singer 2606 which I bought in 1988 with my second pay cheque for 149 pounds Sterling. I bought it from the Singer shop where they gave me a tutorial on how to thread and use it. Mine is very similar to yours and uses the same bobbins. On mine, and on most sewing machines, there is a disc in the centre of the hand wheel which when pressed pops out and disengages the sewing mechanism when you are winding the bobbin. I hope you enjoy using your sewing machine as much as I have enjoyed mine.

    Interesting video CJ! Threading this sewing machine is pretty similar to how my mom's sewing machine works, but just a few little differences. I have done a little sewing on the machine over the years, by sewing machine and by hand. I'd like to do more of it. It's neat to create things and sew them together!
