  • A perfect day for a trial at the hill top quarry at Nab End with 13 big singles and 6 Triumph Twins entered it was the best turnout of big bikes and pre-unit machines for quite a few years.
10 sections were ridden 4 times by all classes except for those in the Gentle class who ride two laps of eased sections.
Best ride of the day was by Dave 'Stav' Ingram on his Ariel credited with zero marks. Chris Haigh on his superb Velocette had an equally excellent ride losing just 1. Dave has since admitted to having a single dab on section 4 that was missed by the observer and he's asked for the results to be ammended to give Chris the win on the older rider tiebreak rule. Fair play Dave. Michael Dorricot was third the first time out on a big bike on his ex Mick Ash Ariel losing just 3.
Gary Marshall took the honours in the twins class on 3 with Malc Cocking on 6.
The 6 starters in the gentle class found the going tough with John Dykes topping the only 3 finishers.
In the lightweights it was Paul Whittaker on his James that took top spot on 1 with Steve thomas and Nigel Greenwood close behind.

The events are designed to be suitable for pre-unit machines with no tight bends etc and we allow lightweights to enter a non championship class to make up the numbers. Unit Triumphs have their own class as we all love to hear them 😊
