Hello Tom! You still using any grinder from Kingrinder? If so, could you please check the inner bearings and see if they are rusted? I've just returned my K6 for a refund after 6 months of use and I know some other users with the same problem on their grinders. I'm curious about how many people is having the same issue. Cheers!
@@aliyousef6859 Of course I never washed it with water. I only used a small amount of RDT sometimes, as Kingrinder allows to do it according to the grinder's manual.
Just got the K2 because of your suggestions and demonstrations. After about 3 or 4 shots of trial and mostly error (the newer version of the K2 seems to have a bit tighter settings so I had to add more clicks), I just pulled the best tasting shot I have ever pulled from my Delonghi. I was using a really fresh Italian roast that I picked up while visiting my folks for the holidays. They live in a small town and they have a great little shop for some fantastic coffee. Thank you for all your videos and your feedback. I appreciate that you actually take time to respond in the comments with further tips to us viewers with questions. @ankurpathania123 I think it just depends on the machine and portafilter size. I use a Delonghi Stilosa, and it takes a 51mm portafilter. I personally use 15g of beans, and for my bottomless portafilter, I go at about 53 clicks counterclockwise from the closed position. When I use my double spouted portafilter, I use the same 15g and grind at around 55-56 clicks from the closed position. I don't know exactly, but it was a bit of trial and error. Now that I dialed it in, I know the numbers that I need to turn it to, but to get there, you have to go by number of clicks, not numbers on the dial. I hope this helps. Seems like everyone misses the best part of the kingrinder lid/handle setup! If you take the o-ring off of the outer lip of the lid, you can use the smaller o-ring that comes in the box to lock the lid onto the handle so they come off together! There’s a little channel on the handle axle that it fits into so they become one unit.

i recently found your channel and i can say its a breath of fresh air, after looking on all sorts of places like reddit and youtube reviews to find a decent machine and tools for a normal person that wants to get into coffee without spending a LOT of money i can say i finally found the place, while you do review more expensive tools and machines i like that you give a change to the cheaper ones too, ye coffee connaisseurs can go and spend thousands of dollars\euros to get the best of everything, I want to find the cheapest possible way to get at least close to a good experience

i have a K2 and i love it , its my first grinder , the price is right for the quality. close in price with the timemore but all metal inside with a bigger burr King of value for sure
After watching your videos on these grinders, I ordered a K6 as I like both espresso and pour over. So far so good. I was using a Timemore C2 with my flair neo (bottomless portafilter) and had to dial in with dose because I only had one setting that would pull a drinkable shot. I am amazed at the options that I have now. I can get a decent shot with the same dose across a few clicks in either direction. You notice the difference, say, in acidity level but you still get something drinkable. I just ordered two bags of my favorite coffee because I know I am going to be playing around with the dialing in process.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I am finding that out. I had my pour over this morning and the difference in clarity is apparent. Visually, in the grounds, I can see the lack of fines, I guess. The grind looks "different" at a relatively similar finesse. Each individual ground looks flatter, if I had to pick a descriptor. Whereas they looked more round with the C2. What this seems to imply to me is that I will be able to grind finer, to push extraction, before reaching astringency. Anyway, I read a lot of comments on reddit where people said the difference wouldn't be that noticeable. While it may not be as big of a difference as moving from my blade grinder to my C2 it is still very noticeable to me.

I just bought a timemore C3 for coarse/pour over coffee, I was thinking about choosing the kingrinder K2 instead, but it's off my budget by a lot, so I'll get more used to this hobby by using the C3 for some time, and only upgrade after understanding how an espresso really works, so I'll be sure that the grinder might be the bottleneck. Do you have any tips for using the C3?
@@CarlosSMA_ I will say that I have the C2 not the C3 and from my understanding they have a different burr. However, I guess the only advice I could give is to try a variety of grind sizes before deciding what is best when it comes to pour over. As for espresso, with my C2, I had to learn how to dial in the flairs bottomless portafilter by dose as I only got one click per coffee that would pull an okay(ish) shot. Normally one click was too fast and the next would choke it. I have found that, depending on the coffee, I need to dose between 14-16 grams for lighter roasts. Honestly, if the C3 is relatively similar to the C2 it should be a pretty straightforward experience.

Oh and btw, the external adjustment on K4 has some disadvantage nobody telling about on TH-cam. When you grind your coffee some of its bits are flying up into a little space between adjustment dial and main shell of the grinder. That little area is full of oil. And then, eventually those bits of coffee with machinery lubricant falling down and joining the rest of your grind, providing your coffee a new, "oily" taste descriptor. If they would close that area with at least a bit of plastic, that would fix the problem.

Nice review Tom, and I'm glad to see you like both grinders. I'm not surprised of course, owning the K2 and more expensive manual grinders to compare. There's one thing worth adding about the o-rings. For best user experience when manual grinding, remove the black o-ring from the plate and attach the handle and plate with the small white o-ring. This reduces the chance that the handle will detach when grinding and makes it easier to remove the plate when adding beans. For best user experience with a drill, do the opposite - leave the black o-ring attached and remove the white o-ring. I don't use a drill so can't say much about how much better this setup is compared to without the black o-ring, but I believe that's what Kingrinder recommends users to do.
Hey OB! Yes, I like both. They are both the best options at their respective price points in my opinion. I have used these with and without the handles attached to the top plates, and I have not had any issues with the handle flying off, either way. Cheers! Tom
Great video. I have the K2 and could not be happier. I cannot believe I am getting delicious espresso for 50-60$.... Also, I like the fact that it is smaller, which makes it more convenient for traveling. To be completely honest, I am only making about 2 cups a day, so I considered selling my Eureka Mignon and continuing with just with Kingrinder K2, and I do not think my espresso experience will decline much. I have been blown away by K2, it's a beast! I do not find counting clicks a considerable issue, and as you said, 1 complete revolution, and you are pretty close to the truth already. And then, about the external/internal adjustment, if you use your favorite coffee brand and dial it in, you do not need to touch anything for a very long time, except for cleaning, so it's a non issue again.
Heck yeah, I can totally agree with this! If you're making 2 a day, this is probably the hot ticket. It performs great, makes an excellent grind, and feels high quality. Hard to believe they are being sold for like $50. I got mine for $31 with a coupon. Felt like stealing.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Their pricing on Amazon is frequently insanely low with coupons and general discounts. The only explanation I can think of is that instead of spending their Marketing budget on ads, they decided to subsidize some sales, even to below the cost of production. This way, as a newcomer brand, they can more quickly get their grinders into people hands and get more user reviews. Just a crazy theory, I know.
Tom, thank you so much for the in depth review of these grinders (and all the other reviews you do on this channel). I've just took delivery of the K4 today and it is exceptional. I'm still very new to the espresso world but, through another video on the channel, I have also learned how to get the best out of my Delonghi ECI 341 with the bottomless portafilter. The K4 is definitely going to be a huge help in this regard!

I have a Lido E wich i own since 2019. I just bought a kingrinder k6 for my aeropress, and to use the lido E only with my faemina. For the price of the K6 you get a very fine piece of equipment. It comes well aligned, it's easy to dial, and it produces tasty coffee. I also think it's quieter than the lido when grinding, maybe because the hopper is more closed, maybe because aluminium damp more the sound. I'm not saying the lido is worst than the K6 though, but I was pleased with what the K6 offers you at it's price point.
Dunno the difference between K4 and K6 exactly, but I have the K6 and JX-Pro too. Coffee sticks less to the K6 (bottom, and cup), grinds easier (could be the JX-Pro is quite a bit older), it's slimmer. The rubber grip is a bit loose on the JX-Pro, adjustments are easier on the K6, JX-Pro has more capacity. The K6 cup feels not as tightly fit as the JX-Pro, but it's not an issue. I like both. K6 for travel, the JX-Pro is quite big and heavy. Haven't tried the drill method with the K6. K6 is a steal at well under 100. If anyone wants to get started with espresso, it's a big thumbs up for me. I use both with a Gaggia Classic, but that's not as easy to recommend.

Thank you for all your advise, because of your reviews and several others, I bought the Delonghi 35.31 which is the international equivalent tot the 3420 ( i think) and its also a boiler. For a total price of your set up including the bottomless porta and grinder K2 will amount just somewhere at the $400 mark. In my opinion its a steal, getting somewhere at 80 percent or better in taste expresso vs the commercial cafe's thats set up near the 20k mark or higher. :)
With this set up you will make better espresso than the majority of cafés, considering that many of them do not train their baristas properly. But for the cafés who have good barista’s, and good equipment, they will still make better espresso and drinks of course.
@@osamamansoori3117 hi after a year of working the machine. I replaced the k2 with a china ade grinder which is only aroubd 35 dollars. The settings thoojg needed some fixing to maximum. Though the beans used have different grind setting to get its optimal crema so its a trial and error till you got the beans you want and the settings to be fixed. Hope that helps.
Hello, gongratulations fot the great job you do with this chanell! Due to your videos I fell in passion with the espresso :) I bought Delonghi EC260 and I am currently using the original presurised basket. I am usin about 10-12 grams of cofee for a shot about 40-45 grams -more grams of cofee is too strong for me I think. My next step is grinder - a budget one - I beleve best option for about 150$ is a hand one. I woulld appreciate your advise about which one of the following will match beat for my needs: 1. Timemore C3 ESP -price about 90USD 2. KINGRINDER K4 -price about 150USD 3. MISCHIEF M40 -replica of Comandante - price about 90USD , later if the clix and the axis breaks -will be replaced with the original one from Comandante which is about 45USD. Priority is the best taste of the espresso. Thank you in advance!
I just bought something similar to the Kingrinder K0. I'm looking forward to trying it out when it arrives. I wanted a good quality electric grinder, but they're not in a price range I'm willing to pay for right now.. So the hand grinder seemed like the best option for me.

Hi Tom, really great video !!! Do you have any suggestion for electric conical burr grinder? I'm having a flat burr and regret buying it. Coffee ground stuck a lot in inside after each grind. And come out at the next grind which make the flavor less consistent.

FYI - I have had a first trial with the Kingrinder k4 and Gaggia Espresso Evolution with IMS Basket. Actually I started at 60 clics (from completely closed and ignoring the bar... ie. I counted 60 from the fully closed position) - nothing came out of the machine! I then moved to 71 and I had a coffee - possibly still a little too fine - will put it up at 73 later!
I guess I tighten it really hard ...and there is a 5 clicks play between closed... And very tightly closed... The super tight close shows 45 in my numbers...so I'm using the super tight as a true 0 as I can repeat it... Wasting beans...just tried at my 75 and possibly too much...so will try 73... Can 2 clicks make a difference?
Ok I am up at 75 clicks from super tight and I got a decent coffee out... However might push to 76... 77... Can 2 clicks really make a difference? Also... Stupid question...does a paper puck screen make a difference to grind... Should I grind coarser or finer with the paper screen on?
I would also like to know how the K4 compares to the JX-Pro, as I'm currently considering the JX-Pro for it's ability to do both espresso and pour over coffee really well. The K4 seems to be easier to dial in than the JX-Pro given that it has an outer adjustment ring. Though I'm concerned about whether or not the number paint may rub off the K4 over time, as JX-Pro has its adjustment values etched into the metal ring. How would you also rate the cleaning and reassembly of the K4 in comparison to the JX-Pro? Would you also say there was a significant or even noticeable difference in the taste of the coffee from both grinders? I realize that you do not have the JX-Pro anymore, but if you ever have access to it again, it would be nice to see a comparison video between the two grinders, and maybe also the K6 if you can get that too. @trafalgarlaw7109 I got the K6 instead since the burr set seemed more versatile for espresso and filter coffee. It has a similar burr set to the commandante and 1zpresso K series grinders. The build quality is pretty good and I've used it almost everyday since I got it. I can't speak to the taste difference between the two grinders, but since they are physically identical, I can speaking on the build quality and workflow. The K6 is very easy to use. The clicks feel solid and grinding is smooth. You'll probably need to keep the o ring on the handle though because without it the handle comes off too easily while grinding. Other than that, dialing in a brew between filter and espresso is a breeze because of all the levels it has, and I haven't (yet) had an issue with the numbers fading away. Cleaning is another story. It's fairly involved. Not as involved as I thought it might be from this video, but it still takes some getting used to to get the pin out and reset it when you're done. Another issue I've had is my top most bearing Starting to corrode. I think it's because I mist my beans before grinding, so over time this may have caused some corrosion. I haven't had this issue with my other grinder (timemore C2) so this may be something to look out for. The bearing is easy enough to get out and clean, and I've found some replacements with the same dimensions so I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker. It's good to know though for longevity. For taste and grind consistency, I'll say it's been as good as when I first got it. The grinds are very even with a low ratio of fines for each setting, and I can get similar tasting coffee between multiple uses on the same grind setting. Coffee generally tastes very clean with it. I like using it for my filter brews because it's easier to pick out the tasting notes, and this is very apparent with espresso style coffee where the body feels lighter, but the tasting notes and acidity is more forward (eg: moka pot). I'm comparing it to my C2 which has noticeably more fines at similar grind settings than the K6, so my guess is that the K4 would have a more body-forward taste profile since That's one noticable difference I can tell between espresso's of similar grind settings on both my grinders. Just curious how the size of the catch cup for the grounds compares to a portafilter. I couldn’t find any info on this online, but I was wondering if you’d be able to fit a 58mm portafilter around the cup and flip it over to transfer the grounds without a funnel?
Are you sure that it was 60 clicks on K4? For espresso the range is between 21 to 45 in this grinder. In my case I usually use 35-37 clicks depending on the types of grains. In my grinder the real 0 is not 0 like on the grinder, but -6 (this can be checked to by rotating until it can't be moved anymore). So on the grinder visually I see 29-31 clicks. Is there a chance that your real "absolute zero" was like -20? Because in my case 60 clicks would be waaay to coarse.
Yes, 60 clicks, or one full revolution. But that's with freshly roasted beans. Might also be differences now in manufacturing...this video is already nearly 2 years old.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner this can be the case. In actual manual from Kingrinder there is info about 40 clicks for espresso. Maybe older versions had more clicks for espresso. I also use freshly roasted beans (1-2 weeks old, max 1 month). Did you have any issue with rust in K6 after 2 years of usage?

Well, the Graef is a lot more ergonomic to use. The K2 might do better results for espresso, but the CM702 is just easier to use since it's electric. I have made some good shots with the CM702.

Hi Tom, With my Gaggia Classic, I seem to need a K-4 ginder setting that's below 50. Pehaps that will change (to a higher # like you used here), if/when I swap the 12-bar stock spring for a new nine-bar one.
Howdy! Well it may also depend on your beans. The fresher they are, the more resistance they provide as well. A grind setting of 50 is very fine. I use 55 for the La Pavoni, for which I have to grind finer than any other machine.

Apparently K4 is no longer available, it has been discontinued. The K6 is it's successor, with some differences. Would you consider reviewing the K6 as well?
Hey Tom, how would you compare these to something like JX pro or J-Max? Obviously these are better priced, but do you get any more value for the extra price?
What's the best way to keep the K4 grinder clean? Is it necessary to disassemble the grinder? Disassembly seems to be a little complicated and I'm not sure I would be able to reassemble it correctly without throwing off the grind settings...
Just got my K4 for 100$, king of value indeed, half of the price of a 1Zpresso J-max for almost identical features, I'm so happy with it ! Now I am at 73 clicks for a 51mm pressurized basket, and ordered a botomless portafilter+basket which will arrive soon.
@@ahmetzyc Well It is why i said almost (same burrset, same top adjustment system), and actually 16 microns step is precise enough, after a month of use with different coffees and baskets, I never encountered a case where I was missing an intermediate setting.
@@loichervier7206 at that point you may be right. I am not sure of because I also plan to buy k4 since it's relatively cheap. What 1 click changes the Brew timing? How many seconds does it change? If you can let me know that would be very good for me to decide even better.
@@ahmetzyc ok i will give you an exemple with my daily light roast: 18g in, 54g out, for one setting i need 30 second brewing for the next (finer) setting will be about 4 second more. So a 4 second precision is reasonnably precise for me, but maybe other want even better accuracy. Hope this is useful
Hi Tom, do you know how to calibrate the dialing ring on the K4 to exactly 0? I know it‘s not a problem but I would just simply like it that way 😅 But that actually is the only thing I don‘t like about this grinder
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy. If that is a Bluetooth Milwaukee than you need to use the app and adjust the speed and torque almost like a PID for drills, If you don't have it than OOPS! Otherwise great work. Cheers from LA,CA. P.S. Manual grinder shouldn't cost more than a machine itself.
This might be a weird question but can the K4 grinder grind fine enough for Turkish coffee? Since Turkish needs ultra-fine which is even finer than espresso. If it does, I would assume it takes at least a whole minute to hand-grind because of how fine it is.
Hi Tom, I have a Kingrinder K2 and I would like to use DeLonghi Dedica with a non-pressurized basket. Is it okay with it, can I make fine enough grind? I would not like to change my K2 because of it, but I would like to a buy a non-pressurized basket (single and double too).
I just purchased the K2 for $65. I have the same Delonghi Machine you used in this video so I will set the settings close to you. I bought the bottomless basket that you recommended and I'm not getting a good espresso shot. Hopefully the K2 will work for me!

Hi, I need some help with decision. Should i go with the Kingrinder K4/K6 or the timemore C3 esp? Both are around the same price with the kingrinder costing about 20-30 dollars more.
I recently started using K6 and I use Dedica 685 with a bottomless portafilter. I tried at a grind setting of 60 clicks although could not get a 1:2 ratio. I had 16 gms in and almost 55-60 grams out. I brought down the grind setting to 40 clicks step by step but even then I have 16gms in and 55-60 gms out. I suspect channeling. Although I am not sure. Can you suggest where I might be going wrong and a grind setting in terms of clicks that I should try?

For me it was 60 clicks and a freshly roasted bean. Maybe your 3630 has lost some compression over the years? Anyway, try opening the grind a bit further. Cheers!
I got the same expresso machine and it comes sour, I searched some videos and tried all (good press on the filter, less press on the filter, more time water flow, less time water flow etc.) I have the original basket and portafilter. The grind is very fine grind, like turskih coffe. The coffee is suppose to be caramel/chocolatey (single origigin arabica) and it is caramely when done clasic way, turkish style on a hand kettle over fire (since I assume it is more extraction time) but in this espresso machine is come sourish. I dont have the comb or the bottomless/precison basket though. Not sure why, but I am thinking of returnig it and justs ticking with the clssic hand kettle over fire.
I'd suggest coarsening the grind. Turkish is too fine for an espresso machine. Also, lighter roasts are more challenging. Now sure which roasts you're trying. Good luck!
Dear Tom, I am looking at getting the Kingrinder K4 for espresso (delonghi Dedica machine). Would you recommend it for Espresso only? Is the quality of the grind as good as something like the 1Zpresso JX-Pro or J-Max (which are more expensive, smaller adjustments)?
I like the K4 better than the Jx-Pro. It is way nicer to adjust on the top collar, feels better in the hand, has a rubber grip that doesn't slip, and provides excellent grinding results. Summary: I feel like the K4 is making life hard for the Jx-Pro.

Hi Dawn, there’s a lot of nice machines in that price range. Does $1500 include room for a grinder? I recently reviewed the Ascaso Steel PID, which is a very good machine. Do you prefer E61 group heads? There are many HX machines that can be had for that price as well, with E61. I myself would probably nudge up to a dual boiler at that point. Another tip: there’s Facebook forums with lots of good advice, like the Home Espresso Aficionado group. People there know their stuff and can help whittle down the selection. Hello, I'm about to buy this grinder I'm in doubt between the k2 and k4 regarding the sensory I prefer a balanced coffee with as little bitterness as possible which of these would be the best option in this case?
Hi Elaine, I never sifted the results, so it's hard to say which includes more or less fines or boulders. I would imagine they will perform similarly - at least they do to my palate. But I like using the K4 more.

Hello Tom! You still using any grinder from Kingrinder? If so, could you please check the inner bearings and see if they are rusted? I've just returned my K6 for a refund after 6 months of use and I know some other users with the same problem on their grinders. I'm curious about how many people is having the same issue. Cheers!

@@aliyousef6859 Of course I never washed it with water. I only used a small amount of RDT sometimes, as Kingrinder allows to do it according to the grinder's manual.

Just got the K2 because of your suggestions and demonstrations. After about 3 or 4 shots of trial and mostly error (the newer version of the K2 seems to have a bit tighter settings so I had to add more clicks), I just pulled the best tasting shot I have ever pulled from my Delonghi. I was using a really fresh Italian roast that I picked up while visiting my folks for the holidays. They live in a small town and they have a great little shop for some fantastic coffee.

What are the best settings for K2?
@ankurpathania123 I think it just depends on the machine and portafilter size. I use a Delonghi Stilosa, and it takes a 51mm portafilter. I personally use 15g of beans, and for my bottomless portafilter, I go at about 53 clicks counterclockwise from the closed position. When I use my double spouted portafilter, I use the same 15g and grind at around 55-56 clicks from the closed position. I don't know exactly, but it was a bit of trial and error. Now that I dialed it in, I know the numbers that I need to turn it to, but to get there, you have to go by number of clicks, not numbers on the dial. I hope this helps. I have a 51mm porta as well and 40 clicks just choked my machine. I've been playing around 53-56 clicks. 50 clicks choked it as well. A k2 user here.
This specific video got me started with espresso because I did not want to buy a $500 grinder. Seems like everyone misses the best part of the kingrinder lid/handle setup! If you take the o-ring off of the outer lip of the lid, you can use the smaller o-ring that comes in the box to lock the lid onto the handle so they come off together! There’s a little channel on the handle axle that it fits into so they become one unit.

After watching your videos on these grinders, I ordered a K6 as I like both espresso and pour over. So far so good. I was using a Timemore C2 with my flair neo (bottomless portafilter) and had to dial in with dose because I only had one setting that would pull a drinkable shot. I am amazed at the options that I have now. I can get a decent shot with the same dose across a few clicks in either direction. You notice the difference, say, in acidity level but you still get something drinkable. I just ordered two bags of my favorite coffee because I know I am going to be playing around with the dialing in process.
Awesome! The K6 is way better than the Timemore in my opinon. If I could only choose 1 hand grinder it would be a K4 or K6.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I am finding that out. I had my pour over this morning and the difference in clarity is apparent. Visually, in the grounds, I can see the lack of fines, I guess. The grind looks "different" at a relatively similar finesse. Each individual ground looks flatter, if I had to pick a descriptor. Whereas they looked more round with the C2. What this seems to imply to me is that I will be able to grind finer, to push extraction, before reaching astringency.
Anyway, I read a lot of comments on reddit where people said the difference wouldn't be that noticeable. While it may not be as big of a difference as moving from my blade grinder to my C2 it is still very noticeable to me.

I just bought a timemore C3 for coarse/pour over coffee, I was thinking about choosing the kingrinder K2 instead, but it's off my budget by a lot, so I'll get more used to this hobby by using the C3 for some time, and only upgrade after understanding how an espresso really works, so I'll be sure that the grinder might be the bottleneck.

@@CarlosSMA_ I will say that I have the C2 not the C3 and from my understanding they have a different burr. However, I guess the only advice I could give is to try a variety of grind sizes before deciding what is best when it comes to pour over. As for espresso, with my C2, I had to learn how to dial in the flairs bottomless portafilter by dose as I only got one click per coffee that would pull an okay(ish) shot. Normally one click was too fast and the next would choke it. I have found that, depending on the coffee, I need to dose between 14-16 grams for lighter roasts.
Honestly, if the C3 is relatively similar to the C2 it should be a pretty straightforward experience.

Oh and btw, the external adjustment on K4 has some disadvantage nobody telling about on TH-cam. When you grind your coffee some of its bits are flying up into a little space between adjustment dial and main shell of the grinder. That little area is full of oil. And then, eventually those bits of coffee with machinery lubricant falling down and joining the rest of your grind, providing your coffee a new, "oily" taste descriptor. If they would close that area with at least a bit of plastic, that would fix the problem.
That is an astute observation. We shall see how it goes...

Nice review Tom, and I'm glad to see you like both grinders. I'm not surprised of course, owning the K2 and more expensive manual grinders to compare.
There's one thing worth adding about the o-rings. For best user experience when manual grinding, remove the black o-ring from the plate and attach the handle and plate with the small white o-ring. This reduces the chance that the handle will detach when grinding and makes it easier to remove the plate when adding beans.
For best user experience with a drill, do the opposite - leave the black o-ring attached and remove the white o-ring. I don't use a drill so can't say much about how much better this setup is compared to without the black o-ring, but I believe that's what Kingrinder recommends users to do.
Hey OB! Yes, I like both. They are both the best options at their respective price points in my opinion.
I have used these with and without the handles attached to the top plates, and I have not had any issues with the handle flying off, either way.

Great video. I have the K2 and could not be happier. I cannot believe I am getting delicious espresso for 50-60$.... Also, I like the fact that it is smaller, which makes it more convenient for traveling. To be completely honest, I am only making about 2 cups a day, so I considered selling my Eureka Mignon and continuing with just with Kingrinder K2, and I do not think my espresso experience will decline much. I have been blown away by K2, it's a beast! I do not find counting clicks a considerable issue, and as you said, 1 complete revolution, and you are pretty close to the truth already. And then, about the external/internal adjustment, if you use your favorite coffee brand and dial it in, you do not need to touch anything for a very long time, except for cleaning, so it's a non issue again.
Heck yeah, I can totally agree with this! If you're making 2 a day, this is probably the hot ticket. It performs great, makes an excellent grind, and feels high quality. Hard to believe they are being sold for like $50. I got mine for $31 with a coupon. Felt like stealing.

The only explanation I can think of is that instead of spending their Marketing budget on ads, they decided to subsidize some sales, even to below the cost of production. This way, as a newcomer brand, they can more quickly get their grinders into people hands and get more user reviews. Just a crazy theory, I know.

I'm still very new to the espresso world but, through another video on the channel, I have also learned how to get the best out of my Delonghi ECI 341 with the bottomless portafilter. I have a Lido E wich i own since 2019. I just bought a kingrinder k6 for my aeropress, and to use the lido E only with my faemina. For the price of the K6 you get a very fine piece of equipment. It comes well aligned, it's easy to dial, and it produces tasty coffee. I also think it's quieter than the lido when grinding, maybe because the hopper is more closed, maybe because aluminium damp more the sound. I'm not saying the lido is worst than the K6 though, but I was pleased with what the K6 offers you at it's price point.
Dunno the difference between K4 and K6 exactly, but I have the K6 and JX-Pro too. Coffee sticks less to the K6 (bottom, and cup), grinds easier (could be the JX-Pro is quite a bit older), it's slimmer. The rubber grip is a bit loose on the JX-Pro, adjustments are easier on the K6, JX-Pro has more capacity. The K6 cup feels not as tightly fit as the JX-Pro, but it's not an issue.
I like both. K6 for travel, the JX-Pro is quite big and heavy. Haven't tried the drill method with the K6. K6 is a steal at well under 100.
If anyone wants to get started with espresso, it's a big thumbs up for me. I use both with a Gaggia Classic, but that's not as easy to recommend.

Thank you for all your advise, because of your reviews and several others, I bought the Delonghi 35.31 which is the international equivalent tot the 3420 ( i think) and its also a boiler. For a total price of your set up including the bottomless porta and grinder K2 will amount just somewhere at the $400 mark. In my opinion its a steal, getting somewhere at 80 percent or better in taste expresso vs the commercial cafe's thats set up near the 20k mark or higher. :)
With this set up you will make better espresso than the majority of cafés, considering that many of them do not train their baristas properly.
But for the cafés who have good barista’s, and good equipment, they will still make better espresso and drinks of course.

@@osamamansoori3117 hi after a year of working the machine. I replaced the k2 with a china ade grinder which is only aroubd 35 dollars. The settings thoojg needed some fixing to maximum. Though the beans used have different grind setting to get its optimal crema so its a trial and error till you got the beans you want and the settings to be fixed. Hope that helps.

Hello, gongratulations fot the great job you do with this chanell! Due to your videos I fell in passion with the espresso :) I bought Delonghi EC260 and I am currently using the original presurised basket. I am usin about 10-12 grams of cofee for a shot about 40-45 grams -more grams of cofee is too strong for me I think. My next step is grinder - a budget one - I beleve best option for about 150$ is a hand one.
I woulld appreciate your advise about which one of the following will match beat for my needs:
1. Timemore C3 ESP -price about 90USD
2. KINGRINDER K4 -price about 150USD
3. MISCHIEF M40 -replica of Comandante - price about 90USD , later if the clix and the axis breaks -will be replaced with the original one from Comandante which is about 45USD.
Priority is the best taste of the espresso.

Sorry, I have mainly used the K2 for espresso. But I don't see why it wouldn't do a great job for v60. Maybe try a different bean...Cheers!
FYI - I have had a first trial with the Kingrinder k4 and Gaggia Espresso Evolution with IMS Basket. Actually I started at 60 clics (from completely closed and ignoring the bar... ie. I counted 60 from the fully closed position) - nothing came out of the machine! I then moved to 71 and I had a coffee - possibly still a little too fine - will put it up at 73 later!
Ours could be slightly different. For me, 60 is a good starting point. Cheers!
I guess I tighten it really hard ...and there is a 5 clicks play between closed... And very tightly closed... The super tight close shows 45 in my numbers...so I'm using the super tight as a true 0 as I can repeat it... Wasting beans...just tried at my 75 and possibly too much...so will try 73... Can 2 clicks make a difference?

The titanium coating is there to keep the burrs sharper, longer. As for the WDT, I don't know, but really thin.

Sorry, but I don't have the Jx Pro anymore. I prefer the K4 for the ergonomics over the Jx Pro.
I would also like to know how the K4 compares to the JX-Pro, as I'm currently considering the JX-Pro for it's ability to do both espresso and pour over coffee really well.
The K4 seems to be easier to dial in than the JX-Pro given that it has an outer adjustment ring. Though I'm concerned about whether or not the number paint may rub off the K4 over time, as JX-Pro has its adjustment values etched into the metal ring.
How would you also rate the cleaning and reassembly of the K4 in comparison to the JX-Pro?
Would you also say there was a significant or even noticeable difference in the taste of the coffee from both grinders?
I realize that you do not have the JX-Pro anymore, but if you ever have access to it again, it would be nice to see a comparison video between the two grinders, and maybe also the K6 if you can get that too. Thanks.

@trafalgarlaw7109 I got the K6 instead since the burr set seemed more versatile for espresso and filter coffee. It has a similar burr set to the commandante and 1zpresso K series grinders. The build quality is pretty good and I've used it almost everyday since I got it.
I can't speak to the taste difference between the two grinders, but since they are physically identical, I can speaking on the build quality and workflow.
The K6 is very easy to use. The clicks feel solid and grinding is smooth. You'll probably need to keep the o ring on the handle though because without it the handle comes off too easily while grinding. Other than that, dialing in a brew between filter and espresso is a breeze because of all the levels it has, and I haven't (yet) had an issue with the numbers fading away.
Cleaning is another story. It's fairly involved. Not as involved as I thought it might be from this video, but it still takes some getting used to to get the pin out and reset it when you're done. Another issue I've had is my top most bearing Starting to corrode. I think it's because I mist my beans before grinding, so over time this may have caused some corrosion. I haven't had this issue with my other grinder (timemore C2) so this may be something to look out for. The bearing is easy enough to get out and clean, and I've found some replacements with the same dimensions so I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker. It's good to know though for longevity.
For taste and grind consistency, I'll say it's been as good as when I first got it. The grinds are very even with a low ratio of fines for each setting, and I can get similar tasting coffee between multiple uses on the same grind setting. Coffee generally tastes very clean with it. I like using it for my filter brews because it's easier to pick out the tasting notes, and this is very apparent with espresso style coffee where the body feels lighter, but the tasting notes and acidity is more forward (eg: moka pot). I'm comparing it to my C2 which has noticeably more fines at similar grind settings than the K6, so my guess is that the K4 would have a more body-forward taste profile since That's one noticable difference I can tell between espresso's of similar grind settings on both my grinders.

Hi Marcel, just try tightening the grinder all the way, then opening CCW, one full revolution. That has been a good starting point for me.

Well, I really like the K4 for a hand grinder. But I'd be too lazy to use it everyday, if I had an electric one. K4 will give better grinds though.
Can I use them to grind fresh silantro and parsley?
No, they'd get stuck in any grinder, I'd guess. You'll have to use a mortar and pestle, I'd think.

It's just the normal size that every screwdriver kit comes with. I think it's quarter inch.

Just curious how the size of the catch cup for the grounds compares to a portafilter. I couldn’t find any info on this online, but I was wondering if you’d be able to fit a 58mm portafilter around the cup and flip it over to transfer the grounds without a funnel?
It's smaller than 58mm, that much I know. But I'd still recommend a funnel to be able to shake and distribute the grounds well.
Are you sure that it was 60 clicks on K4? For espresso the range is between 21 to 45 in this grinder. In my case I usually use 35-37 clicks depending on the types of grains. In my grinder the real 0 is not 0 like on the grinder, but -6 (this can be checked to by rotating until it can't be moved anymore). So on the grinder visually I see 29-31 clicks. Is there a chance that your real "absolute zero" was like -20? Because in my case 60 clicks would be waaay to coarse.
Yes, 60 clicks, or one full revolution. But that's with freshly roasted beans. Might also be differences now in manufacturing...this video is already nearly 2 years old.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner this can be the case. In actual manual from Kingrinder there is info about 40 clicks for espresso. Maybe older versions had more clicks for espresso. I also use freshly roasted beans (1-2 weeks old, max 1 month). Did you have any issue with rust in K6 after 2 years of usage?

Well, the Graef is a lot more ergonomic to use. The K2 might do better results for espresso, but the CM702 is just easier to use since it's electric. I have made some good shots with the CM702.

With my Gaggia Classic, I seem to need a K-4 ginder setting that's below 50. Pehaps that will change (to a higher # like you used here), if/when I swap the 12-bar stock spring for a new nine-bar one.
Howdy! Well it may also depend on your beans. The fresher they are, the more resistance they provide as well. A grind setting of 50 is very fine. I use 55 for the La Pavoni, for which I have to grind finer than any other machine.

Apparently K4 is no longer available, it has been discontinued. The K6 is it's successor, with some differences. Would you consider reviewing the K6 as well?

I haven't tried the J Max, but I like the K4 better than the JX Pro. I think it cannot be beat for the functionality it offers.
What's the best way to keep the K4 grinder clean? Is it necessary to disassemble the grinder? Disassembly seems to be a little complicated and I'm not sure I would be able to reassemble it correctly without throwing off the grind settings...

Just got my K4 for 100$, king of value indeed, half of the price of a 1Zpresso J-max for almost identical features, I'm so happy with it !
Now I am at 73 clicks for a 51mm pressurized basket, and ordered a botomless portafilter+basket which will arrive soon.

Well it's not almost identical for j max you have 2 times precision compared to k4.
@@ahmetzyc Well It is why i said almost (same burrset, same top adjustment system), and actually 16 microns step is precise enough, after a month of use with different coffees and baskets, I never encountered a case where I was missing an intermediate setting.
@@loichervier7206 at that point you may be right. I am not sure of because I also plan to buy k4 since it's relatively cheap. What 1 click changes the Brew timing? How many seconds does it change? If you can let me know that would be very good for me to decide even better.

18g in, 54g out, for one setting i need 30 second brewing for the next (finer) setting will be about 4 second more. So a 4 second precision is reasonnably precise for me, but maybe other want even better accuracy. Hope this is useful

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy. If that is a Bluetooth Milwaukee than you need to use the app and adjust the speed and torque almost like a PID for drills, If you don't have it than OOPS! Otherwise great work. Cheers from LA,CA. P.S. Manual grinder shouldn't cost more than a machine itself.

I haven't tried the C3S, but I prefer the K4 for its better click system.
This might be a weird question but can the K4 grinder grind fine enough for Turkish coffee? Since Turkish needs ultra-fine which is even finer than espresso. If it does, I would assume it takes at least a whole minute to hand-grind because of how fine it is.
I think so, yes. I have to open up an entire turn (60 clicks) for espresso. So Turkish will be less than that. It's a great grinder. Cheers!
Why does ceramic vs titanium vs stainless steel matter so much in grinding? Does it determine how long the burrs stay sharp?
Ceramic is just not as strong as steel, afaik.

I just purchased the K2 for $65. I have the same Delonghi Machine you used in this video so I will set the settings close to you. I bought the bottomless basket that you recommended and I'm not getting a good espresso shot. Hopefully the K2 will work for me!

I did try a Milwaukee cordless screwdriver, and that did not have the torque to grind.

I recently started using K6 and I use Dedica 685 with a bottomless portafilter. I tried at a grind setting of 60 clicks although could not get a 1:2 ratio. I had 16 gms in and almost 55-60 grams out. I brought down the grind setting to 40 clicks step by step but even then I have 16gms in and 55-60 gms out. I suspect channeling. Although I am not sure.
Can you suggest where I might be going wrong and a grind setting in terms of clicks that I should try?

For me it was 60 clicks and a freshly roasted bean. Maybe your 3630 has lost some compression over the years? Anyway, try opening the grind a bit further. Cheers!

I haven't tried the Q2 to be honest. But I am quite a fan of Kingrinder. So I'd say the K2.
I got the same expresso machine and it comes sour, I searched some videos and tried all (good press on the filter, less press on the filter, more time water flow, less time water flow etc.) I have the original basket and portafilter. The grind is very fine grind, like turskih coffe. The coffee is suppose to be caramel/chocolatey (single origigin arabica) and it is caramely when done clasic way, turkish style on a hand kettle over fire (since I assume it is more extraction time) but in this espresso machine is come sourish. I dont have the comb or the bottomless/precison basket though. Not sure why, but I am thinking of returnig it and justs ticking with the clssic hand kettle over fire.
I'd suggest coarsening the grind. Turkish is too fine for an espresso machine. Also, lighter roasts are more challenging. Now sure which roasts you're trying. Good luck!
Dear Tom, I am looking at getting the Kingrinder K4 for espresso (delonghi Dedica machine). Would you recommend it for Espresso only? Is the quality of the grind as good as something like the 1Zpresso JX-Pro or J-Max (which are more expensive, smaller adjustments)?
I like the K4 better than the Jx-Pro. It is way nicer to adjust on the top collar, feels better in the hand, has a rubber grip that doesn't slip, and provides excellent grinding results. Summary: I feel like the K4 is making life hard for the Jx-Pro.

Hi Dawn, there’s a lot of nice machines in that price range. Does $1500 include room for a grinder? I recently reviewed the Ascaso Steel PID, which is a very good machine. Do you prefer E61 group heads? There are many HX machines that can be had for that price as well, with E61. I myself would probably nudge up to a dual boiler at that point.
Another tip: there’s Facebook forums with lots of good advice, like the Home Espresso Aficionado group. People there know their stuff and can help whittle down the selection.

Hi Elaine, I never sifted the results, so it's hard to say which includes more or less fines or boulders. I would imagine they will perform similarly - at least they do to my palate. But I like using the K4 more.
