And so on to many more melodious songs by him. In fact, aisa koi geet ya ghazal hai hi nahin jise napasand kiya ja sake. Haan khans Taur par....... Meri yaad mein Tum........ In his soft velvetty voice with that magical tremble........ Unique.
"Jalte hai jiske liye " is still a hot favourite of mine... I get blown away by his way of singing whenever I listen to this particular song.. no one can sing this song better than him.....my salute to the melody king

Each and every song of Talat Mahmood is exceptional. Yeh Hawa yeh Raat yeh Chandani, husn Waalon ko Na dil do, main pagal mere manwa pagal. I just can't stop listening to him.
There is hardly any song of Talat Mahmood which is boring. Every song has his 'jaan' in it. I fell in love with his vibrating voice which added to the melody. I find it difficult to say which of his songs is my favourite. I must admit that every song of his is my favourite. Long live Talat Saab.

बहुत खूब बताया। आपने गाकर बताया, अच्छा लगा। जलते हैं जिस के लिये एक कमाल का नगमा है,तलत साहब ने बहुत। ही बढ़िया और क्या धुन है। ऐसे गायक बार बार जन्म नहीं लेते। लोग नकल मारते हैं लेकिन वो बात कहां? उल्टा गाने की धुन ही बिगाड़ देंगे। और नहीं तो बेसुरा ही गायेंगे। तलत साहब का मुश्किल और अत्यंत मधूर ग़ज़ल है "ये हवा ये रात ये चांदनी - फिल्म" संग दिल" से। इस तरह खूबसूरती से शब्दों को हरकत के साथ धुन में पिरो कर ताल को वापिस समय पे लाकर छोड़ना, सात मात्रा में आसान काम नहीं। इसी तरह उनका एक और गीत है लेकिन ताल अलग है, शामें ग़म की कसम फिल्म फुटपाथ में। दोनों अन्तरा की आखरी लाईन को किस तरह बाखूबी से लाकर और फिर मुखड़ा कहा, शामें ग़म की कसम। कितना कठिन है ये सब करके दिखाना। - अनिल कुमार राजदान।

Glad to know someone still remembers the great Talat Mahmood. At one time even Raj Kapoor was compelled to use Talat instead of Mukesh. My personal favorite: Ae mere dil kaheen aur chal ( the slow version ) with a great performance by Dilip Kumar.
One very important legend I want to add up here! The great ghazal King Mehdi Hassan Sahab had credited his own initial success to Talat Sahab! Like few other ghazal singers later, like Jagjit Singh etc, Mahdi Hassan sahab too started his musical inning by singing various famous songs of Hindi cinema. Talat sahab, being the very famous singer of those times, Mehdi Hassan sahab started singing Talat Sahab's songs / ghazals at public functions. Mehdi Hassan Sahab's own talent and musical prowess started getting strong support from the fame of Talat Sahab's famous songs and people started recognizing Mahdi Hassan sahab and his abilities. This mainly went up to 1957-58 and once, by then, Mehdi Hassan sahab started getting appreciation for his own creations / ghazals, independently. Rest is history...! This was revealed by Mehdi Hassan Sahab himself in an interview. In the same interview, he was said to have thanked Talat Sahab profusely! Kahan gaye woh log....!!!!!!!!

Glad to know someone still remembers the great Talat Mahmood. At one time even Raj Kapoor was compelled to use Talat instead of Mukesh.

One very important legend I want to add up here! The great ghazal King Mehdi Hassan Sahab had credited his own initial success to Talat Sahab! Like few other ghazal singers later, like Jagjit Singh etc, Mahdi Hassan sahab too started his musical inning by singing various famous songs of Hindi cinema. Talat sahab, being the very famous singer of those times, Mehdi Hassan sahab started singing Talat Sahab's songs / ghazals at public functions. Mehdi Hassan Sahab's own talent and musical prowess started getting strong support from the fame of Talat Sahab's famous songs and people started recognizing Mahdi Hassan sahab and his abilities. This mainly went up to 1957-58 and once, by then, Mehdi Hassan sahab started getting appreciation for his own creations / ghazals, independently. Rest is history...! This was revealed by Mehdi Hassan Sahab himself in an interview. In the same interview, he was said to have thanked Talat Sahab profusely!
