Unfortunately, it will loose ground to other trees taking it's groves. Fraxinus's downfall was being the best wood for fires, and befriending humans who planted them all over.
Great Video. Very informative and some amazing images of what the Emerald Ash Borer looks like and what type of damage the borer does as well. It is horrible to see all the damage that this little bug causes. Let's hope that with all the research being done, they can find a way to help eliminate the Ash Borer before it destroys all the ash population! As they say burn it where you cut it! Let's all do our part to help prevent the Emerald Ash Borer from spreading.
I have had three ash trees treated last year. But my largest tree, approximately 30-40 years old looks worse this year. I'm afraid it is too far gone, just waiting spring to see what it looks like as far as leaves go. But I'm sure it will have to come down.
No, I was wrong, it's a functional extinction event. Save your locally evolved ash tree seeds so we can bring the same ash back someday. Unlike Elm and some other tree species, Fraxinus Ash started on the American continent.
This insect was confirmed in a tree in my city (Winnipeg, Canada) on November 30th, 2017. Our canopy is 30% ash and we're set to lose 350,000 trees. Devastating.

Ash trees were already boring anyway. They should all be replaced with honey locust.
Dumb thing to say! Ash is a serious lumber tree, its s big loss! But yes Black locust and mulberry will take over in its place
