- Bruce and I take the "Fat Cat" (boat) to explore fly fishing the lake edges and streams for some stunning trout. We find the fish to be exceptionally tricky, but perserverence pays off and you know we never give up!

Great video !! Nice to be part of the classic story of a couple of lads having a great time in paradise . If only the trout knew what a process is humans go through 😂. Or maybe they do and are playing part of the same game 🤣.
It’s such a great sport , although sport is a funny word for what becomes an addiction , lifestyle and passion for some many .
Keep living the dream !!!🎣🐟🏔️
This video is a bit different being pretty slow going. However it does tell the story of never giving up quite nicely, so I hope you can find a wedge of time with a quiet cuppa and it's not too long for you to enjoy. I really wanted this one to be super calming and relaxing so hope it doesn't send you all to sleep - unless that's what you want 😂
Enjoy 🗻🏞️❄️💯🔥
Great video. I love your patience. Beautiful lake. Do some more lake videos. 😊
Cheers for the input. That's awesome you enjoyed it 🙏🏞️👌
Some days it just takes one fish to make it a great day!
💯
Awesome work, great challenge for you, well done. #nevergiveup
Cheers!
Do the hike up misery next time you're there. Such an amazing place. You're one of very few people I'd mind running into on a back country river. Cheers
Sweet. Bruce is keen on the mountain mission
Plenty of deer on the western hill top too.
👌Hope you've got some awesome trips planned for October
@@nzadventurerYes. All weather dependent though! If you're heading to Fiordland or South Westland anytime, let's have a yarn.
Sweet man send me a msg on Instagram (NZ.Adventurer) and I can hit you up when I'm around that way. Would be ace to do that some of my favourite valleys are down that way 🏕️💯
Something different bro. Beautiful scenery. Great content 👌
Cheers fella hopefully you can come see it for yourself some time 🗻🏞️⛺
@@nzadventurer I’d love to bro
What a great video NZ Adventurer…that is real tough fishing…spent 3 days right there last winter…with a zip result…so well done. But the location and scenery…breathtaking.
Yeah it's just such a pleasure being out there on the lake, but sometimes hard to believe how tricky the fish can be. Cheers Pete👋
Amazing bird sounds and water slapping boat the "stomach pump" that is some trainspottery sh!t...
Pleased you liked the audio hopefully it was nice and calm and relaxing 👍🏼 we did get the stomach pump technique sorted the next trip 🎯🏞️
Some beautiful water up that way buddy. Thats persistence on that fish. I guess its a catch 22 situation, do you wanna see more of the lake or what have you or stay camped on a fish. River fishing is definitely more exciting than the lakes I find. Lakes can be frustrating and tedious. Which do you prefer?
I think I love rivers more. Bruce seems to prefer lakes. Trout stalking I guess is my addiction - hopefully u saw that vid? I grew up fishing lake Okareka (nr Rotorua so easy rainbows using hamils killer, Mrs Simpson, red setter, grey ghost etc). Bit of a different world to these browns in this spot! But a few days hanging with a mate in those surroundings is always going to be superb! I just love being by clear fresh water though to be fair. Thx for watching
@nzadventurer I haven't watched it but I'll get onto it. Yeah any fresh water fishing is great but I find stalking trout on gin clear waters up river exceeds anything a lake can produce. That's my personal opinion. The river varies from big bouldery fast pocket water to flat gentle riffly runs to swirling Eddie's. It's all different where a lake is a lake. They don't differ too much apart from the trout behaviour on each still water location.
@@danielsadventures2897 yeah I get it! I think the same as you whereas Bruce seems to love lake & still water. Can't explain why. Maybe less walking? Doesn't like wet wading? Perhaps the long walks to spooky trout is a bit much for most people 🤔
Great video mate. Deflthe reality of fishing. Thats why its fishing and not catching. Is this down south?
Maybe it is but in the north island it was all about driving around in a boat drinking beers so the reality didn't sink in 😂 that fish, that was a fantastic result I will always remember and a good few lessons from Bruce there 👍🏼 thx for watching 🏞️⛺
@nzadventurer good on you mate. What I have really enjoyed about trout fishing is just the amazing scenery you get to see while out stalking trout. It's truly amazing
One hundred percent
Better buy some more ichneumon's, I only have one and a week on high country lakes is coming up early season. Great vid as usual!
I've been practicing tying a few - deadly 🔥🎯
Thanks 👍🏼
@@nzadventurer Very good! Had a look in the 3 local shops today, no-one had them! No Grey Darters either... off to Chch soon so shall get them up there. Keep up the informative vids.
@@waitaki_flyask Rhys at nzfishingflies he doesn't list them on his store but he'll make em 👍🏼
reckon that nymph at 3:15 is a nesameletis swimming mayfly replicated by the old grey darter...
I think you're on the money there - thanks for that! Maybe we need a book on hand if we're goingto have the net and the stomach pump. Or a little fly tying kit!! Thx for that 🙏
@@nzadventurer normally expect them in rock and stone rivers but apparently anywhere with high water quality. A favourite of Mike K
@@TimmoMcGinn thanks for the input
@@TimmoMcGinn Found a nice pattern and been tying a few grey darters - thanks for that 👍
@@nzadventurer best on a 14 or 12 long with the orange and black tipped pheasant feather as a super releaser...
