it is like that from the beginning.. he has the other one in his other ear. they usually remove one ear piece to hear the fans and stuff. or maybe it was too loud or was uncomfortable

It's like singing with headphones on, you can't really hear your own voice. Those earpieces work the same way, they are there to block out the screams so the singer can hear the music, but they can't hear their own voice clearly unless they take one out. Although I do think Jiminie wants to hear the fans too xD Hope that makes sense ^^

I agree but at the same time there is nothing wrong with preferring one member’s abilities over another. Personally, I like the way Jungkook sounds more than I like RM’s sound. Thus, I prefer Jungkook’s singing. By no means do I think Jk can replace RM, I just prefer him.
It’s no different than me preferring Jimin’s dance style to Hobi’s. I just like the contemporary mixture Jimin has created for himself. It’s nothing against Jhope and I certainly don’t think Jimin can and should replace Jhope. I just preferring Jimin’s style.
