"I hate carriers" Dr. Ghost. I still remember that conversation. Glad to see your atleast giving the Americans some decent love
Fun Fact: The smokestacks at the rear of the ship was articulated, meaning that when the carrier was ‘in transit’ they were vertical as you see here but in ‘flight ops’ they were lowered into a horizontal position so to clear the deck of obstructions.
Ranger was an interwar carrier (built in the 1930s), served in WWII, and was scrapped in 1947.
She received two battle stars. One for Operation Torch, the Allied landings in North Africa, and the other was Operation Leader which was a raid on Norway (she sailed with the British Home Fleet out of Scapa Flow).
She is the ONLY US pre-war carrier to never be deployed against the Japanese.
On April 25, 1943 German radio issued a broadcast saying that a German sub, U-404 (insert Error 404, claim/ carrier not found joke here) commanded by Commander Otto con Bulow who was decorated with the Oak Leaves of the Knights Cross.
The USN immediately issued a denial and in a radio interview in 1944, Captain Gordon Rowe, Ranger’s commander, stated:
The story we were sunk was a cowards trick to instill anxiety and fear. The next day we issued a denial and on October 4 raised hell in Norway. Only regret we had we kept looking for Tirpitz but she wouldn’t come out.
A bit long winded and I apologize but thought I’d add a little interesting context to her.

@@DrGhostGames they kinda did if you look at it. Before you upgrade the hull the stacks are on the sides of the ship. After you upgrade the hull they transfer to flight deck
@@AnchoredPast I thought to check that out and removed the upgraded hull from Ranger. Maybe it’s only on the Xbox version of the game but for PlayStation, the stacks were vertical regardless.
Imagine you failed division in something like a South Carolina or Agincourt and you see a tier 5 carrier you’re screwed then

I was a whiny battleship main a few weeks ago about CVs. But I've been doing the air superiority missions for credits, and they're pretty fun. And now that I know how to aim with the planes, it's easier to dodge and predict where a CV is aiming if I am targeted.

Monoplanes. They're called monoplanes. Triplanes (like what the red barron flew), biplanes wwi and some wwii, and monoplanes, virtually all modern planes.
I figured prop planes were the most appropriate term 🤷♂️
@@antonm.lockwood913 Prop planes refer to propeller-driven aircraft (as opposed to jet or rocket propelled, gliders, ect) which describe almost all planes in WWII. Tri, bi, and mono refers to the wings.
In other words, prop planes refers to the propeller, they can have any number or orientation of wings.
Ghost seemed to be struggling to recall the term that differentiates biplanes on the older carriers with the newer monoplanes on Ranger.
Btw, I struggle to call 19mm "armor". 19mm is 3/4 in. To put it in perspective Titanic, an ocean liner, had about 3/4 to 1 inch hull plates.

You acquitted yourself quite well. Always good to see a Carrier player doing the right things. I know what the right things are but suck at doing those things in a Carrier. GG Ghost👍
for a tip if u play ranger for some reason sap HE an AP will citidal you serov carrier snipers are what you sshould keep a eye out she dont fuck about
Good game nice to see a team that attacks the spotted DDs. I do that and most times my team still aims as BBs or the CLs. Now after spoting the DDs for 3 min and getting no help I leave them be, like fine you want to farm the BBs and CLs then enjoy the DDs torps, call me toxic but if they do not care then why should I.
The devs say CVs are for hunting DDs and on PC it works okay, on console the devs missed up, on PC it seems tier 6 gets rocket planes a good why to fight DDs. Because any DD player with half a brain can dodge torps and bombs from a CV. You have to be so lucky to hit,
All Tier 5 CVs, and up on Console should have rockets as the tier 6 ships on PC are our 5 CVs. That make DD vs CV fights even, also lower the plane restoration to, if the other ships had the wait CVs to for planes on thier guns everyone would stop playing.
as a CV main this is my least favorite ship of all time. This thing is beyond useless its just too inaccurate with the "nukes" or they hit for 800 damage. just feels like a scam in the ranger.
