    I personally like to think the F-Type as a charismatic British muscle car that wears a suit. While I'm still warming up to that front end, it looks quite good overall - it really does give off a GT vibe. I know every time I see one on the road (pre-facelift models still) I give a good look.

      @Nemoticon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it's not actually, what you're hearing is the exhaust note. The same exhaust is on the V6 and they sound virtually the same. Replace the exhaust and the car will instantly sound like many other on the market where they have been insulated into silence and there is no induction noise whatsoever.

      @@BluestofFalcons Thanks for your reply. That’s really nice to know. I put a deposit down six months ago and finally get to collect it in about 4 weeks after it’s been PPF’d and had the callipers painted the same colour as the car. Earliest days of Spring here in the UK so good timing. Nav I will probably use Wave or Google and I’ve already decided to get the a specialist to upgrade the speakers and sound proof the doors to eliminate vibration but I get what you mean about listening to the engine noise.

    In my opinion GT ( Grand Tour) coupes and sedans are the best cars available. One doesn’t always have to get the fastest sports car the manufacturer offers, go for the model that doesn’t look out of place off the track. Just my thoughts

    I’m a Brit and have never really warmed to the F-Type and always erred in favoured the German route.. ahem….Porsche. But given the choice now, 992 or this, then the balance for me is turning. I must be having a life crisis of sorts???

    Your numbers are off.
    31 mpg for the V8 in 8th, which is geared for 340 mph. Did you even try?
    Top speed is 200.
    0-60 is 3.08 stock, on Dragy.
    700HP VERY casually tuned F-Types are laying down 2.7s. FYI its one of the few cars faster than claimed. The C8 for example has never broken 4 seconds on Dragy, which is all that counts.

    @FFE-js2zp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Jag F is the ONLY purebred sportscar on the market today. Well Pagani, but thats not really relevant to a few of us. Yes, yours is a GT.
    FYI the SCCA defines a sportscar as a ground-up soft or no top design, is a 2 seater, and has full racing power. A GT happens when you put a hard top on a sports car, making the F the only GT on the market too.
    So the key to a sports car is the convertible is first and is the same weight or lighter than its GT version.
    The F was actually designed as a soft top, but also has a no top in the now $300K P7 version, so yes hardcore drivers still desire no-tops). Show me another convertible that's the same weight as its GT.
    Something like a lead anvil Porsche 911 convertible is a proper family sedan. How do you, it has child seats, obviously, that's the definition of a sedan. And the Type 64 was design with an enclosed cabin, so todays convertible conversions need tons (almost) of added structure.

    The sound always ruined this car for me... it's NOT the engine, which has been insulated into silence, the sound is entirely in the exhaust and couldn't sound more fake. More and more, modern cars have lost their engine note in favour of an exagerrated exhaust note and people have forgotten what engines actually sound liike. The V6 version of this car had the same exhaust and was just as obnoxiously annoying. A real shame, because it's a lovely little tourer, very pretty and distinctive.

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's par for the course across most new GTs and sports cars now.

    • @Nemoticon
      @Nemoticon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrianMakse This is true, I admit that and agree. I think the F-Type stands out though because the noise it makes is so obviously loud and distinctive. I understand that emission regulations mean that engines are muted and silenced, but there are still some manufacturers who put out some great sounding cars. Cheers xD

    I know it's a tired comment. But this car needs a manual, even if it is a paid option. The entire MO of this car revolves around a classic experience of canyon carving in an iconic British sports car. The auto makes no sense. And shouldn't it really feature a mechanical LSD or are we at the point in electronics where it's just that good? Edit: and also say no to gloss black. Stop it!

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The character of the car and the engine don't suit a manual. E-diffs are infinitely better than mechanical limited slip diffs. They're fully variable, vary under acceleration, g-load, etc, and then are fully open under braking. Brilliant stuff.

    • @bigmacdaddy1234
      @bigmacdaddy1234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrianMakse Well then Jaguar needs to make the character and engine suited for a manual. It's getting pretty tiring that every single new car today has its computer software doing all the driving for you. Might as well be in a Prius then.

      I would add the following now that I’ve had my 2024 R for several months now: Initially I was a bit down about it not having a manual. The ZF in this thing is so involving in sport shift mode, and so good, that I could care less about a manual now. It’s that good. The ZF tuning is a direct trickle down from their expensive Project 7 variant. Some believe this car has the best ZF implementation out there. I believe it.
