Rings and chains suggest to me, that horses were common in the past. These things can be part of horse harness. I appreciate the video of the countryside! The terraced fields, wild grasses, birds, footpath remind me of my home in Iowa. Even the wooden fenceposts - exactly as were used in Iowa by largely German immigrants when settling the land here!
That footpath is amazing for you, the 1750 silver coin is in fabulous condition considering the footpath probably has had heavyweight machinery and horses over it. There were quite a few coins in the stretch you went over but so much trash! Amazing old silver!! Well done. For 3 years I lived in Kulmain, Bayern and there was a website called Bayerischer Denkmal-Atlas. On this site you can change the display to show maps from early 1800's. I took those old maps and made an overlay onto a modern map and was able to find many old foot paths like yours. I found many old silvers using this mehtod, the oldest was a 15 kreuzer from 1622.

Congratulations on finding that beautiful silver coin, Hans. (If I had been the one to find that coin, I would have packed my stuff immediately and returned to home to have a beer or two to celebrate!) Finding a watch chain and a watch casing does make one wonder if the two were ever connected; impossible to prove, I know, but still... :) It was good to see the blue skies and other signs of spring in your video because we are having a winter storm here with all different kinds of frozen precipitation and, frankly, I'm sick of it! TerraGermania I stole that “Cigar & a six pack “ thing from ‘The Hoover Boys’. Do you know of them on TH-cam here in the states? As far as old finds here in America the Hoover Boys live in an area where the oldest finds can be found in this relatively young country. Kind of goofy and funny guys too so take a peek at their channel. There is almost an artistic element to your videos. Thank you for the reply Sir.

Another wonderful video Hans with some great finds! I have moved to Germany and have been here a month now. I've been detecting quite a few times with my e-trac but my detecting friends convinced me to get a Deus. Today was my first hunt with it. Best wishes and HH, Dave.

Great video again, Hans!! I found a Leopold I, 6 kreuzer from 1686 in Belgium a couple of years ago. Those are beautifull coins! Keep up the good work my friend

A suggestion: In the Fall, when path and field get dry, hire a plane to fly over your path area in order to photograph and trace the outline of path moving across the other farmer's open field. Maybe it can be seen from the air before that. Best of luck!
Good to see your artistry here again, Hans. You made an interesting point about coin purses and now, pockets. I wonder how many coins have been lost before folks decided a leather poke-sack was better than cloth? I hope you get permission for the fields beyond, too, and I look forward to see what the plow has revealed.

Another great video Hans, your footpath in winter time with heavy use would be very muddy causing walkers to walk wide to avoid the mud. There will be good finds up to 3 or 4 metres into the ploughed field. Try it. Good luck.

Your normally such a reserved person on camera. The excitement in your voice when you said "oh my gosh guys" was outstanding! Also have considered that maybe the chain and the picket were once together? Very nice video all the way around!
haha..sometimes I get really excited about finds. It's not only the coin itself that made me happy but also the dating evidence it gave the path. we can say now that the path has been used from 1750 on at the earliest. I can imagine that the chain and the watch case belong together. the fact that the path has been plowed in the past explains why chain and watch came apart. thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans

What a great silver coin Hans! I detected a medieval track last week and pulled out 7 coins the best being an Elizabethan half groat c.1590. Its a great feeling after researching & planning to turn up the finds

Congratulations on finding that beautiful silver coin, Hans. (If I had been the one to find that coin, I would have packed my stuff immediately and returned to home to have a beer or two to celebrate!) Finding a watch chain and a watch casing does make one wonder if the two were ever connected; impossible to prove, I know, but still... :) It was good to see the blue skies and other signs of spring in your video because we are having a winter storm here with all different kinds of frozen precipitation and, frankly, I'm sick of it! TerraGermania I stole that “Cigar & a six pack “ thing from ‘The Hoover Boys’. Do you know of them on TH-cam here in the states? As far as old finds here in America the Hoover Boys live in an area where the oldest finds can be found in this relatively young country. Kind of goofy and funny guys too so take a peek at their channel. There is almost an artistic element to your videos. Thank you for the reply Sir.

Another wonderful video Hans with some great finds! I have moved to Germany and have been here a month now. I've been detecting quite a few times with my e-trac but my detecting friends convinced me to get a Deus. Today was my first hunt with it. Best wishes and HH, Dave.

I found a Leopold I, 6 kreuzer from 1686 in Belgium a couple of years ago.
Those are beautifull coins!

A suggestion: In the Fall, when path and field get dry, hire a plane to fly over your path area in order to photograph and trace the outline of path moving across the other farmer's open field. Maybe it can be seen from the air before that. Best of luck!

I wonder how many coins have been lost before folks decided a leather poke-sack was better than cloth? Another great video Hans, your footpath in winter time with heavy use would be very muddy causing walkers to walk wide to avoid the mud. There will be good finds up to 3 or 4 metres into the ploughed field. Try it. Good luck.

Your normally such a reserved person on camera. The excitement in your voice when you said "oh my gosh guys" was outstanding! Also have considered that maybe the chain and the picket were once together? Very nice video all the way around!
haha..sometimes I get really excited about finds. It's not only the coin itself that made me happy but also the dating evidence it gave the path. we can say now that the path has been used from 1750 on at the earliest. I can imagine that the chain and the watch case belong together. the fact that the path has been plowed in the past explains why chain and watch came apart. thank you for watching and for your kind comment!

What a great silver coin Hans! I detected a medieval track last week and pulled out 7 coins the best being an Elizabethan half groat c.1590. Its a great feeling after researching & planning to turn up the finds
