I heard of a really dark theory once that Future Danny possibly didn't even kill his human half, instead opting to completely take over his mind in order to use his body to blend into crowds more easier to wipe them out from within, explains why when Jazz used the peeler, it literally stripped Danny's body from Future Danny instead of forcing Future Danny into defaulting back into his "ghost form". @@45alko he likely would answer if anyone survives long enough to ask he just doesn’t care enough to keep secrets when they don’t concern his continued existence which throughout the episode is the only thing he does seem to care about
Throughout the episode Dark Danny muses to himself that he SHOULD being feeing things. He should be nostalgic over seeing Sam and Tucker again but he can't summon up any feelings for them except in what he calls his "Weaker moments". He notes that he probably should treat Vallarie's defeat as special considering the history they share but says "I don't work that way.” I think he just CAN'T feel anything or at the very least he only has shreds of feelings after loosing his humanity. Ghosts have obsessions and his creation came about from Danny wanting his grief to go away so that lead to his obsession being to purge himself of feelings and empathy. If so than the things he does are to test that because literal murder is definitely something his original self would have feelings about
Also maybe he didn't actually KILL his original human self, but essentially LOBOTOMIZED him very graphically then possessed his brainless corpse. *Lobotomized in a way where his vital brain functions would still well function.* This would then explain why he was able to turn into a younger version of danny, cause his ghostly form was keeping said corpse suspended. And that the fenton peeler quite literally peeled away the corpse.
I was almost hoping you were exaggerating, but I just saw a moment clip near the end of the video, where Dan Phantom actually leaves his younger human body to go commit whatever mischief he was doing there. Making it, omg damn you’re right.
What ultimately makes "The Ultimate Enemy" so great is that it's essentially a metaphor for all the angst and anxieties of a typical teenager. When you're Danny's age, the future _is_ inherently scary and full of uncertainty. Not knowing what your life will be like as an adult, not knowing if you're gonna turn out fine in the end, not even being sure if you'll be able to recognize yourself... The idea that your adult self might be a completely different person from your current, kid self is _terrifying_ , so much so that this episode portrayed it as turning into a monstrous supervillain that embodies all of your worst traits. "The Ultimate Enemy" works so well because it connected with its audience on a deep, emotional level.
Honestly I use to have nightmares of this short movie. He was so scary as a kid and super cool. I wish we saw more of him he was so cool and that short movie was also left open ended too
Yah they really made the series end on a bad not since the finale was not good. I could write a looooong essay on how they ruined season 3. Still an amazing show tho.
I wish past vlad met his future self. Would’ve been great character development. You know what’s makes dark Danny much more scarier is that in the end he still exists, he’s still there which means Danny can still become him.
@@donovan802 yess we love a self aware Jack! Until he kinda went stupid again, but still, if the show ever continued or there was an extra movie to satisfy the fans, we'd probably see a bit of a redemption arc for Jack just like how Jazz went through one.
Actually it's confirmed that Danny wanted to remove his emotions and removing his ghost half was either an unexpected side effect or Vlad trying to eliminate Phantom once and for all. The heroic Phantom from that one episode separated Danny's PERSONALITY, not his emotions.
yeah I was gonna say the same thing. Dan Phantom even says to Sam and Tucker that if he had even an ounce of Humanity left meeting them again would be nostalgic or heartwarming. while when Danny used the Ghost Catcher it's an even split of all of Danny not a Ghost Version who lacked his Humanity.
@@2495781 gonna throw a wrench on this one. Back in the episode where tucker got ghost power, remember that we've seen danny split EXACTLY like this, except both were shocked, and his ghost half re-united with him pretty much immediatly
This whole episode, but especially the "I still exist! That means *you* still turn into *me*!" line imprinted on middle school me in ways that only my therapist is qualified to unpack
I have such a huge crush on Dan Phantom. Despite being an evil bastard, I can't help but to admire his confidence and snarkiness. Plus, I love the voice of Eric Roberts! Wish the show would have utilized the character more.
comparing any other nickelodeon show to avatar is like comparing a Disney channel original movie to john wick. yes, they are essentially both the same thing but the amount of nuance missed in the comparison could fill 17 Olympic sized swimming pools, or approximately one water bottle carried around by a varsity football player.
I really like how the villains in seasons 3 and 4 of Legend of Korra showed the consequences of changes in the world. Zaheer was empowered to act on his beliefs because of how Korra had to defeat Unalaq, and Kuvira filled a power vacuum caused by Zaheer.
yo, let me tell you. The Fanfictions that have Dark Danny/Dan as some kind of antagonist are some of the best I've read! They go into the PTSD that comes with knowing that you're one wrong move from becoming the villain. I personally love when the characters suffer, and so reading about a Danny who's continuing to grow, especially more ghostly, and seeing parallels between him and Dan which causes him to close in on himself are so good!
Considering how Vlad had a habit of going into the ghost Zone finding powerful ghosts to do his bidding and how Dark Dan wasn't stupid to let those things turn on him like Vlad, I'm assuming he's learned some powers from the Ghost Zone Heavy hitters. Like plant manipulation weather manipulation and whatever OP stuff he thought he can wreck the world with
I think dark Danny doesn’t have a final form,he just can morph into whatever he wants, like young Danny, since he doesn’t have a human half that he has to turn into
Exactly. As we know,Danny has the powers of every ghost and there was a ghost without a face in base form that could turn into anything.I think the normal Dark Danny form with the white fire hair is probably the form that is the most close to being his true form.
9:55 That's my face right now after finding out there was a season 3... When I was a kid I always thought that "The Ultimate Enemy" was the series finale. Ignorance is bliss.
I mean TECHNICALLY, Future Danny Phantom is not Danny or even Dan... Since that ghost KILLED danny. He was the ghost DNA from Danny Phantom, merging with the ghost DNA from Vlad. So I personally would have called him Phantom Plasmius. The Merging of the ghost parts from Danny Phantom and Vlad Plasmius, both in name and DNA.
Your absolutely right but the main personality is Danny right down from the way he talks so take that into consideration and the fact that evil Danny constantly calls himself Danny almost like he resents and represses the vlad side entirely he rarely does a single thing vlad would do despite being basically both of them
He still hated vlad and would not associate himself with him even in name he just used the power granted by both forms. A clean slate more so but couldnt let go of what he was before hence holding on to apart of his old self. He even liked the idea that people would ne devistated hearing "I was Danny Fenton, see whats happened to me. Despare for I am your end."
Who wants a head Canon? Danny, and I guess Vlad, have a various different powers because of the way he got his powers in the first place. Form shifting, frost powers, various ectoplasmic abilities, hell even a minor version of technomancy like Technis, it all stems from the whole of the ghost zone being forced threw him. It could even explain why Danny seems to have more powers than Vlad sometimes.. In him is a piece of many if not every other ghost.
now, i did not watch danny phantom, but the very idea of the protagonist becoming the antagonist in the future is super cool and should be used more in cartoons. honestly, having a preview of what the protagonist could be, the amazing power he could obtain but also the moral choices and the effect of those choices and powers on said protagonistis just amazing.
Synopsis of Future Danny: "Long ago, Earth and the Phantom Zone lived in harmony. Then everything changed the Fire Danny attacked. Only the past Danny, master of all four Danny elements could stop him. But when the timeline needed him the most, he vanished."
I really liked your headcanon-explanation for Danny's "evil" and fusion with Vlad. Perhaps that would explain why their fusion seemed to identify more as Danny than just as a fusion? I mean, Danny's grief, pain, and self-hatred was fresh. Granted, Vlad was able to keep his alive for a solid twenty years, but Danny is younger and arguably more vulnerable and volatile since everybody he cared about just literally went up in flames. Just wondering because it definitely seemed like Dan identified himself more as simply an older Danny rather than a fusion, always referring to himself as such (aside from it just being more dramatic and relevant to the plot). Of course, it could just be that Danny absorbed Vlad rather than a simple 50/50 fusion. I think I remember wondering if that was the case due to Vlad having been unconscious when it happened.
Yeah but still there are things that are kinda off about the whole story, which raise way more questions. 1. As you said, why does Dark Danny identify himself as Danny but not as Vlad. In the show he always calls Danny "me", but when he talks about Vlad he calls him "my idiot cheesehead archenemy". With that he basicly says he has no memories about Vlads live, which doesn´t make much sense. 2. When Danny comes to future Vlads place, Vlad instantly realizes that this is Danny from the past, other then all the others he met. We asumed that the future ghosts realized it, but we can´t tell. Also why is Vlads Portal even open, like he awaited Danny there. 3. But I think the most important question is, why are Clockwork and those Watch-Ghosts only after Danny and not for Vlad too. I mean Vlad is already a villain, it was him who ripped out Dannys Ghosthalf and as we said Dark Danny is a fusion out of Vlad and Danny. Dark Danny can´t be without Vlad.
I'm still triggered by them having that contest to "create the ultimate villain for the movie" and it just had options for cookie cutter villains and then the actual villain was just evil Danny.
I do see the point! Avatar can be its own category when ranking the cartoon villains in channels. Vexus is a dangerous foe I wish we saw more of. But the bad guys of Danny Phantom stand out as the best batch of villains on Nickelodeon! We have super mega threats like Vlad Plasmius, Pariah Dark, and of course…Dark Danny. But in this show, even the recurring bad guys, one-offs, and gag villains become legitimate threats. Here are a few prime examples. Box Ghost: the standard wannabe threat that can be taken down in less than 3 seconds once became a legitimate villain in the episode “Boxed Up Fury.” By stealing Pandora’s box, he became the big bad baddie he always wanted to be. Wrecking havoc in Amity Park and even caused Skulker to fear for his life. This proves that with the right box, Box Ghost can be an evil you don’t want to mess with. Klemper: Okay. Technically not a bad guy, just a lonely ghost desperately seeking a friend who will use ice powers when provoked. But still even a nonbaddy like him proves to be threatening when he doesn’t get his way. Lunch Lady Ghost: The first bad gal Danny ever faced in the show aside from the ectopuses. Although kind on the surface, when her menu gets tampered she becomes incredibly scary and brings new meaning to the phrase “you are what you eat.” Her firey temper alone is enough to tell viewers this isn’t your ordinary show but her powers over food and the ability to create living food tells viewers that when it comes to school meals, don’t tamper with them And finally, my personal favorite Danny Phantom villain Nicolai Technus: He’s on the list for a good reason. One that most Nickelodeon villains need to learn. And that is Technus learns from his mistakes. When he debuted in season 1, while already a threat in his own right, Technus had the classic villain habit of revealing his plans to everyone around him. A flaw was picked up very easily. That all changed when Technus returned in season 2 and gave himself an upgrade that changed him in more ways than one. And I’m not referring to his more menacing look. Technus’ upgraded himself so he could no longer blab out his plans. He even proved it by having Danny test him similar to how the Genie had Aladdin test him upon being freed from his lamp. True, Technus had a few slip ups, but this change, or as Technus calls it, “a pop up blocker” enabled Technus to become a much more serious threat that led to Team Phantom not realizing what his dangerous goals were until the last half of the episode. Which is why Technus is proof regarding how less threatening villains can become a legitimate big bad villain
I always thought that Evil Danny had possessed the human half, since he was able to revert to human form when he wanted to. But he was absolutely the ultimate enemy because he was the combined power of both the hero and main villain together and also because he single-handedly wrecked both the human and ghost worlds. Everyone feared this guy.
I can't be sure that Evil Danny just possessed his human self considering that Vlad simply said how some things can't be said or are left unsaid, and Evil Danny himself said he *sacrificed* his human self so, yeah, there's some clues of what he really did.
I loved Dan as a villain so much his design his voice. He just had this super supreme villain aura about him. I liked also no matter how much Danny fought back and resisted Dan was pushing to let things happen essentially making it so inevitably Danny would become him anyway. I always wanted him to return especially with that could he escape ending. If they brought Dan back I would've liked if he became like devils advocate or the devil on Danny's shoulder pushing and putting Danny in situations to sway him to give up on morals and feelings and accept Dan is who he's always meant to become. Haunted by a ghost of Phenton future.

Thx for the gangstas paradise meme on the beginning(I absolutely agree I love the ultimate villain cause he has so much potential and also there are a lot of marvel references like clock who is something like the watcher)
I mean, your explanation of the events make so much more sense, and is also the reason that fanfiction exists. To make better explanation to fill plotholes. (But seriously. If that episode had that much more mature explanation of the descent into madness, The Ultimate Enemy would be my favorite DP episode, ever. As it is, it's just good with some unfortunate flaws.)
I think a return of Dark Danny would have been interresting considering it is mentioned that he is no longer part of the timeline or Danny's true future self. Keep in mind that Dark Danny never tried to kill younger Danny because it would destroy him as well, but if he did ever make a return he would no longer have to be worried about not killing Danny. So that would make the rematch a lot more intense.
Crazy, I was binge watching clips from this special earlier today and now The Round Table uploads a video about one of my favorite specials in cartoon history. I seriously wish the series ended with Future Danny as the final antagonist, whether it be the special being put off until that point or even his return. I also felt like Present Vlad never meeting him was such a missed opportunity. His reaction to his and Danny’s fused ghosts being both that powerful and that evil would’ve been priceless, I’m sure.
@@laurenstanciel1247 yeah i was talking about movie eon, not ultimate alien eon. The movie was eh. But ultimate alien eon was actually pretty cool in my opinion
You know something you have to admire about D. Danny is how intelligent he is. Unlike so many other villains throughout fiction he takes the time to deal with every potential threat no matter how minor. Danny he imprisons in the future, Jazz he knocks out several times until the right time came thus pinning her to exploding sauce, and last but not least the fentons and his former friends pinned almost immediately. He loses because of a single belief that his future was set in stone. He didn’t account for the idea that his past could take such a radical shift without interference. He never believed that his past self could change the future by himself.
Honestly, I always just assumed it was danny's grief that drove his ghost half to do what he did to vlad. And I was a kid when i first watched that special. So yeah, I totally agree with everything you said about his ghost half not just turning chaotic and naturally evil. But I absolutely love everything you added to it!!!! The vlad perspective was something I never thought of! Plus all the other good point outs! Yeah I knew vlad took danny in because he actually does have a tiny bit of love for him and would be the only person to understand his situation fully, but I never thought of him owing it to maddie or his resentment towards danny being a constant reminder of it. That makes Dan killing his human half but sparring vlad make soooooooo much more sense! Great job as always!
Dark Danny returns in the newest DP graphic novel!!!! I don't know if it's cannon or not but it's a damn good story and a really good conclusion to Dark Danny.
Vlad was named Plasmius after plasma and was shown to be abel to electrocute and his e to blast sometimes start fires (set Rome on fire). So I thought if he developed elemental powers it would be on the hot side.
I really wanted a return of Dark Danny; it would have been an awesome finale. The only things I liked about Phantom Planet was the kiss, the reveal, Danny being recognized as a hero, and Jack being done with Vlad. Also, If there ever is a sequel/reboot, I hope they do it without Butch Hartman and have Steve Marmel instead. I know DP ended due to money issues, but Butch had a tendency of destroying his own shows. Steve Marmel was the reason the show was so great earlier on.
Marmel was a conservative nutter though, and his views heavily tained DP and FOP, particularly with how the show portrayed non-Americans, gender roles, and in the case of Sam, activism. I'd rather Steven Silver who did the original character designs and showran Kim Possible to great success.
The Recurring villains in the future: Johnny 13 is wheelchair bound, and Kitty supports him as husband and wife. Skullker and Technus are fused as one. The Fright Knight serves Dark Danny, a better master than Pariah Dark. The Box Ghost is ripped and he has a daughter. Ember McLain, well let’s just say, the years have not been kind to her. Whatever happened to Sidney Pointdexter, Desiree, Walker, Nocturne, Penelope Spectra, Bertrand, Youngblood, Princess Dora the Dragon?
In my head the phantom half of danny was a half entity and wanted to be entirely ghost which is why he ripped out the ghost half of vlad. He was then corrupted by the dark energy from plasmius.
I was not expecting that gangster's paradise meme in the beginning and just because I was so caught off guard by it I have to give this video a like. Also Future Danny is just awesome as hell
I always took it as Danny's Ghost self resented the fact Danny wanted to abandon him. So he took it upon himself to make himself stronger to show that his choice was wrong and when he fused with Vlad's ghost the two ghost who are full of resentment, hate and anger merge together into one being that is full of rage and resentment with Danny Phantom being the dominant personality because he suffered the most tradgey, losing his family and friends and being abandoned by his human half. So in his anger his killed his human self and fell into his madness
100%! what a great deep dive on Future Danny! THANK YOU for pointing out that it wasnt just 'vlads evil side totally corrupting danny' like the special made it sound, but rather *danny's grief,* coupled with vlad's own hardships and agtagonistic nature, that got us Future Danny. it really was such an amazing season finale! actually dealing with intense things, like real grief, real villiany, real guilt and self loathing; as future danny killed his human half. just. seriously. so different (from most of nick (save 4 avatar)) -- love it!
I mean, he was already in the future, he just has the ability to open a portal to the Ghost Zone. ...Which is still pretty sick, seeing as he may be the only one to open a portal like that without tech (other than Wulf)
Should have had Future Danny come back for Phantom Planet. Hell of a way to resolve that one; Dan Pnantom is eager to pick up where he left off, but the problem is the whole planet's about to be wiped out. Him included, because there's no way he's stopping that ghost rock.
It’s funny how this whole Ultimate Enemy is also a representation of how bad standardized tests are
They are of the devil, aren't they?
Can you blame Danny for cheating? Yeah ghost powers may be cheating but the system cheated him a long time ago.

*Lobotomized in a way where his vital brain functions would still well function.*
This would then explain why he was able to turn into a younger version of danny, cause his ghostly form was keeping said corpse suspended. And that the fenton peeler quite literally peeled away the corpse.
That's really disturbing, but awesome way of explaining that
I was almost hoping you were exaggerating, but I just saw a moment clip near the end of the video, where Dan Phantom actually leaves his younger human body to go commit whatever mischief he was doing there. Making it, omg damn you’re right.
Damn, that's messed up and makes perfect sense. I can see why that would be 'better left unsaid'.
And that also explains why he grows up despite him being full ghost
@@Norinia pretty sure that was Dark Danny just making g one of his clones in an invisible fodm to go take care of Jas. But who knows

True
They need to have human babies that are naturally born with their own ghost powers.

To be fair, the Avatar franchise had some VERY GOOD villains.
True but like he said that series is in a league of its own take that series away and Dark Danny is easily one of the best cartoon villains hands down
I liked the OG dai li in tlab
comparing any other nickelodeon show to avatar is like comparing a Disney channel original movie to john wick. yes, they are essentially both the same thing but the amount of nuance missed in the comparison could fill 17 Olympic sized swimming pools, or approximately one water bottle carried around by a varsity football player.
I really like how the villains in seasons 3 and 4 of Legend of Korra showed the consequences of changes in the world. Zaheer was empowered to act on his beliefs because of how Korra had to defeat Unalaq, and Kuvira filled a power vacuum caused by Zaheer.
But they were Pathetic in power

yo, let me tell you.

Your absolutely right but the main personality is Danny right down from the way he talks so take that into consideration and the fact that evil Danny constantly calls himself Danny almost like he resents and represses the vlad side entirely he rarely does a single thing vlad would do despite being basically both of them
Lemme correct you, Dan Plasmius
He still hated vlad and would not associate himself with him even in name he just used the power granted by both forms. A clean slate more so but couldnt let go of what he was before hence holding on to apart of his old self. He even liked the idea that people would ne devistated hearing "I was Danny Fenton, see whats happened to me. Despare for I am your end."
Wdym “Techincally.” You’re wrong they’re both Danny and Vlad
Who wants a head Canon?
Danny, and I guess Vlad, have a various different powers because of the way he got his powers in the first place.
Form shifting, frost powers, various ectoplasmic abilities, hell even a minor version of technomancy like Technis, it all stems from the whole of the ghost zone being forced threw him.
It could even explain why Danny seems to have more powers than Vlad sometimes.. In him is a piece of many if not every other ghost.
If the rumors about the Danny phantom revival are true I want Dark Danny to return, I actually want him as the main villain.
He should have red ice. Because his ghost sense is red.
Considering what Butch Hartman(a.k.a Bitch Fartman)has done recently...sad to say, but I'm not so sure Nick would revive DP given Butch's infamy.

Crazy cuz i was just thinking of him earlier today
now, i did not watch danny phantom, but the very idea of the protagonist becoming the antagonist in the future is super cool and should be used more in cartoons. honestly, having a preview of what the protagonist could be, the amazing power he could obtain but also the moral choices and the effect of those choices and powers on said protagonistis just amazing.
Also sad reminder.... Clockwork's voice actor died a while back :(
Synopsis of Future Danny: "Long ago, Earth and the Phantom Zone lived in harmony.
I think Thanos stole "I'm inevitable" from Future Danny.
Although kind on the surface, when her menu gets tampered she becomes incredibly scary and brings new meaning to the phrase “you are what you eat.” Her firey temper alone is enough to tell viewers this isn’t your ordinary show but her powers over food and the ability to create living food tells viewers that when it comes to school meals, don’t tamper with them
And finally, my personal favorite Danny Phantom villain
Nicolai Technus: He’s on the list for a good reason.
Dark Danny's voice still does it for me to this day
I always thought that Evil Danny had possessed the human half, since he was able to revert to human form when he wanted to.
I also think why he's the best villain, he actually won. If clockwork didn't step in, Dan would've won
If Clockwork hasn’t stepped in to begin with Dan would have only been a dark thought, a potential.
@@jbcatz5 yeah. Clockwork was simulations the reason for Dan's existence and the reason he didn't come to be. The Observers jumped the gun
Dark Danny, the one that Thanos ripped off. I'm not mixing it up, Dark Danny says the "I'm inevitable" line first.

I seriously wish the series ended with Future Danny as the final antagonist, whether it be the special being put off until that point or even his return.

The ego, the sarcasm, the sadistic personality he had it all.
100%! what a great deep dive on Future Danny!
I will say this I would love to see Dark Danny apper in the 5 years later web comic from the ink tank

Are we overlooking Future Dannys time powers, where he sent Danny to the future.
