The back story on this one is garbage. Northern California rappers never gaf about LA rap. The Bay loved all LA rappers that made good music. It was all about the music back then. The whole “lingo stealing” shit started with E 40. Before that it was always love. Even after that it’s love. Only difference is the markets. You got a dude like Locksmith who can go bar for bar with anyone but he’s not in the right market.

Dj Quik is weaved throughout this whole thing, he should’ve been given some credit! He was the main one poppin in the West after NWA and before Snoop. Quik beefed with Tim Dogg and NY at the same time. Quik was with Death Row during the whole time of the beef and the Source awards, even performed on stage with them! Quik mixed and mastered the whole All Eyez On Me project! Quik was even accused of having part in Biggie’s murder because him and his Pirus were at the event. He was super active during all of this, I’m surprised he was left out of this video.

Im not american and english isnt my first language so its hard for me to understand the full story but as I understand it its like this: Rappers from LA were very popular, rappers from NY got jealous and dissed LA, 2pac from LA got shot and blamed biggie from NY, Suge knight made him sign to deathrow after he came out of jail, he dropped a disstrack, then he got killed, and 6 months later biggie was also shot.
Is this the story or am I not understanding it right? And why did pac even blame biggie for his shooting? And why are some people saying suge was the one who killed pac even tho pac was west coast like suge?

Ice T never gets the credit he deserves. 6 in the morning came out in 1986 and Ice T was already having deals offered before that. Granted I do remember seeing Too Short Invasion Of The Flat Booty’s closer to 85. But Ice T was featured in Breakin before he was gangster rapping and he’s credited as the 1st rapper with a Parental Advisory on his album. Give him his flowers.

To be fair this is the only person in the world I’ve ever heard give Too Short credit for creating “gangster rap” and west coast music lol. If anything I’ve heard Too Short being credited for influencing early Southern rap and obviously the Bay. Everyone from Geto Boyz, Ugk and Goodie Mob credited Too Short w/ influencing their sound. Early Southern hiphop was slow and laid back. Ice T has always been viewed as the father of West Coast rap and “gangster rap” as a genre. He was far more aggressive and political aka “Cop Killa!!!”

Pac's music could resonate with ppl from all walks of life . Didn't matter if you was black/white/Hispanic whatever everyone has lived the struggle and pac's music reflected that . Sure he has songs about doing gangsta shit and getting money but he also had alot of socially conscious music and music that talked about the struggle hence why he was so loved . Biggie's music was kinda one dimensional . He made music for the hustlers and drug dealers and dudes/chicks heavy in the streets . Both are legends though R.I.P to both for real. Yeah I lived through this but ain't nobody old though lol . Seasoned yeah but age is just a number I'm not even gonna get into a generational debate here either but I could lol.

He only did 2 albums before he died while Pac has a huge body of work (including as Makavelli) to pick great songs from... just goes to show what a talent Mr. Wallace was. The Tim dog/Dre & snoop beef came and went fast. It was west coast vs everybody at that point, even uncle Luke was beefin wit them. Tim wasn’t a factor in NY so wasn’t nobody behind him like that but they didn’t like us then as a whole the same way they don’t now, it ain’t nothin new but it’s not funk on site… the bad boy/death row beef started with suge, his best friend, puff, and his body guard. Look that up. Pac knew big and puff didn’t do it, its pretty public who did, pac pinned it on them cuz he felt they knew what was goin down because that was they city, and they were supposed to be boys so he went and clicked up with suge. As far as who killed who 🤫 both open cases, just do some digging the truth is out there… a lot of lies too
