@@GrmacaVlado We both know you're a troll. 'He is in the best system' is just a fantasy. Or you're just ignorant and haven't examined how klopp plays. If you had any football knowledge you'd know that laporte has weaknesses unlike van dijk who can play in any team due to key attributes. Him being one of the fastest cb's in the world (was clocked the fastest cb in the CL), his strength, football iq and positional awareness. Laporte is a decent defender, but his main strength is that he's left footed and can carry the ball forward while being a decent distributor and is decent in most departments for defending while also being consistent. (Pep's own words) Laporte would not be good in Klopps system because of the issues Liverpool suffered before van dijk came. Laporte simply doesn't have the skillset to be as effective as van dijk. (leadership, organizing skills, strength vs physical opponents, positionally he's not as good as van dijk and of course his speed.

Vvd rarely makes mistakes so he doesn't have to slide tackle, he backs off cos he has the pace to disposses the player if he tries going past him and it gives an opportunity for the defence to reset

I feel really sad for most people who have commented on this and are too young to even remember some of Englands finest defenders of my era. I would never ever think of a defense without Stuart Pearce, the man was a machine...then you have Terry Butcher and Tony Adams and least we forget Des Walker... All we think about today is the ability to get forward, pass etc...but these guys had something else in each of them...combine those with Franco Baresi and Cafu and we are perfect!

@@romanoonamor7690 Maldini is before his time as well. He would've seen him in the twighlight of his career. He was probably properly involved in football in 2008 when all the best defenders were in the premier league. The likes of Terry,Vidic,Ferdinand,Carragher,Carvalho,Hyypia,Gallas etc

Jay Purdue wasn’t that good on the ball, and couldn’t pass to save his life. Van dijk is a much better cb to have in your team, because he can defend, play out of the back and pass like no other cb.
@@Adz90 yeah but playing out from the back just wasn't that common in Vidics era. Vidic was definitely more of a hard tackler than VVD because that was needed back then as you could get away with far mote
Jay Purdue vidic was one of the best cbs in pl history, but by the time vvd has finished his career at Liverpool, I think he’ll go down as the best. There’s no weakness to his game, he can really do it all.

@@loepesci5996 but again City had dressing room problems with Tevez,Balotelli and Yaya Toure. I think the best leader commands respect over the entire dressing room and keeps them in line so the manager doesn't have to. The answer is probably Maldini, Canavaro or Adams.

Ramos isn't the most dominant in aerial duels cause he scores some important goals from corners his heading is overrated. If being dominant against the attacker in the air with the head van dijk is best.

There’s so many other older defenders who don’t rely on size of pace like him like godin cheilini bonucci etc. Matip does not have the best right foot in the game I’d say there’s defenders out there with better tomori or Van dijk or Gomez for speed and possibly Van dijk for Ariel battles but kompany, maguire and Matip all are great in the air
