Car trouble is the worst way to ruin a fishing trip for sure. Glad to see you made the best of it. Throw a new thermostat in that thing and it should be good to go. A small emergency tool kit in the trunk can't hurt either lol. When are we gonna get some springer content?? 😎

That’s a good question on Springer content. I better make some moves or it’ll be too late.
Frankly, I’m not that familiar with that type of fishing. It would be me going and trying to teach myself.

Buy a new thermostat and a couple of tools and when your done fishing put the new thermostat in and head home. Wishing you the best of luck Brian.

I agree with the thermostat theory, but also check your fluid levels , first point of failure, could also be a faulty, sending unit in the water jacket of the engine, debris in the radiator water pump, do you see a small amount of water dripping on your driveway with that many miles it could easily need a new water pump, good luck buddy

I’ve made it back. Tested the thermostat and it opened in boiling water. Put it back in and replaced the coolant temp sensor next to the thermostat and the radiator fan relay.
Refilled coolant and ran car in driveway for 10-15 minutes with it staying steady at middle temperature

My two cents is always at least try make it to what you were going to do. I have lost a bearing and had the wheel fall off my trailer just as I turned into the boat ramp yet got it fixed and still made it on the lake. Had exhaust catch my jeep on fire so I parked it in a snow bank and grabbed my rifle out and went hunting and dealt with the exhaust when I was done. Had an engine catch fire in my 66 Chevy while I was towing a boat to the lake once and that sucked because I had to get towed home and didn't make it on the water. But I always try to make it out and just put off my problems until after the fun is done.

Sorry about the car. at least it's a honda, so it can be fixed easily. Try using magic thread when fishing with sand shrimp off the jetty, it works great to keep it on the hook. Thanks for sharing. When's the halibut video coming?

Thermostat is cheapest so i always check that first. Teally gey nervous when those aluminum engines get hot....yours didnt. Sand shrimp are wff3ctive for thd bass, but in my experience i get more lings on gulp alive swimbaits on 1 oz jigheads. Often the bass chow those too. Great preserverance to even fish and crab after your repairs. I wish it would have paid off better for you!

Next time if you run into a issue with over heating. Crank up the heat on high inside the car that will keep the temperature down

Crab snare for the win. I make custom crab snares .I would be happy to send you some to try if you are interested .no strings attached. It is one of my many hobbies .many a crab have fallen to these snares .
