awesome glad i was able to help..dont forget to subscribe
Have not seen the whole video and already you have done more work than i did on my car.
👍
Thank you so much for this video. I was very upset how to get the Front Spring of my 67' Riviera back into the car - now I am relieved and ordered exactly the same tool set you used! All the best from Germany!
Annika Wurster thanks for watching
Awesome, Details Video. You Just Gave me the courage to do mine on my 1963 Skylark. THANK You!!!
Awesome..good luck!! Don't forget to subscribe
@@klowny1969 Already Done Bro. Good Stuffs...
If you want to be safe run a heavy duty chain through the coil while compressed with a jack and make an x with the chain grabing the coil twice
You wanna get at least 5 coils. The bitch aint going nowhere after that.
Thanks a lot for this nice video. It has reached Denmark, where I am lowering my 72 Pontiac Grand Prix, ATM. I watched your video twice, before doing it myself. Now I have done first one with success. Thanks!
Mick J awesome

@@klowny1969 I am a subscriber
Really comprehensive video! It helps a lot thenks!
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe
What a great video. Thanks for doing the complete job. It made me cringe when the spring was loaded. I hope I can do it as easy as you made it look. Thanks again. Cheers
haha! i just lost it when klowny said, "now whack that bitch, like she owes you money." LMAO
+Carlton Vose LOL That's right babee
Now i'm changing the springs in my 66 GTO, and I can't stop laughing.
+Carlton Vose LOL
Excellent tutorial Thank you
On any GM vehicle with control arms like this you're supposed to wait to tighten them all the way down when the car is off of the Jack & Jack Stands sitting at ride height. You lower the car first and then finish tightening them down when everything sitting at ride height
Other than that and not just removing the sway bar out of your way I think you did a great job
J-BASSNFANATIC not true
Do you think that is why my 66 Malibu sits high?
@@klowny1969 Well, I guess you need to do some research because you’re not supposed to tighten anything down until you’re sitting at right height judging by your name on here seems like you might clown around with your car but I’m I don’t clown around with mine. I learned this from the old guys maybe you should do some research on when you should completely tighten down your suspension after doing work, and then get back with me with an apology. Once you realize the whole world, does it the way that I explain for a reason and you just been going throughout life not knowing that reason or knowing to do that, and I’m so sorry for that clown.
Made me real nervous to see your face in front of that loaded coil spring when it was going back in!!
Giuseppe Verdi lol I'm a suicidal klown...thanks for watching
Great job man, loved it.
Brilliant video!!! I'm from Ireland where we don't have american cars and I'm currently have 76 camaro and I'm replacing all the warn bushings and bearings, and can't take the spring out. But now I see I just need different Spring compressors
The coil spring compressor fork goes into the spring, not under the a-arm. This also allows you to leave the a-arms attached. No need to remove them to put the new spring in place.
The coil spring compressor hooks stay inside the coil spring and hook outward. Klowny did it backwards. The groove of the hook will match the pitch of the coil.
Tighten a-arm bolts with car sitting at ride height to prevent binding.
Remove the sway bar to make the whole job easier.
Ryan McDonnough Some GM models require you to put the fork at the bottom of the control arm
Good video only thing I know you hate being told what to do by some assholes but you could have put that spring compressor a little higher up to collapse that spring a little more.oh well you wouldn't have had so much trouble. Oh well you got it in.. believe me I've done plenty of them.. awesome ride bro...
yes you are right..thanks for commenting
best video i have seen so far on this subject. the video is a little dark at the point where you are using the fork to release the ball joints. I'm not sure exactly where to put the fork
Between the ball joint and the arm..
Great looking car, great job.
thanks..and thanks for watching
this is a really great step by step video, ill definitely be checking this out again once i start going through the suspension on my 64 Tempest
thanks for watching and commenting
Nice step by step. I gotta do the springs on my 67 Chevelle. Also a disc brake car. Im thinking its probably identical to your pontiac. At least im hoping it is.
thanks for watching and commenting
This guy is terrific
Thanks dont forget to subscribe!
I have done this job, it is a lot easier when you install the top of coil spring into the top frame hole then bring the spring into the bottom A frame. You align spring and your in an done.
Jim Gillis you have done this job on a gto/lemans? Cause it sounds like ur talking about another type of car
I have a 1966 Lemans, I like your video. Thank you
Thanks like how you put the fork under the control arm i am doing this on a chevy s10 its the same set up i am going to try to compress the spring the way you did buy placing the fork for the compressor on the bottom of the control arm its a tough job on the s10 for me
You get more leverage that way..don't forget to subscribe

No metric threads on that car... its a 7/8”and 3/4”...great video otherwise. Would recommend that u drop the shock then use a spring compressor so the spring is held until u get it out if the car . Its actually easier to get it out as well as safer.
What disc brake kit did you use to get rid of the drums?
Great video... Need to do my 65 Tempest. What make of springs did you install ? Part # ?? Thank you.
Are 67 Chevy Chevelle and 67 Buick Special front coil springs interchangeable?
I did this in 75 on my 65 Malibu. I was 18. I didnt have a floor jack or a jack stand.
I used unsplit pine fird wood for jack stands.
My spring came out much faster than yours did.
Louder too.
Some how it didnt hit me?
Becareful lol
Maybe my nova is much easier, I just removed the caliper, undid stabilizer bolt, disconnected upper control arm left it all on and lowered down enough to pull spring in and out. I had the car jacked up high enough for clearances. Little hard to get in without clamps but prybar and foot worked. Good stuff.
Thank u..lemans springs are huge..nova should be much smaller..thanks for commenting and watching
Just came across your channel. Love it. I have an 66 lemans as well that im trying to fix and upgrade. Do you have a video of your disc brake upgrade and where you got them. Thanks
Thank you..no video of this exact disc brake upgrade..but i have a 1979 camaro disc upgrade: th-cam.com/video/TVA0tsl8VD0/w-d-xo.html
Nice video! Thanks! My son and I are bringing a 66 LeMans back to life. Where did you get the springs? are they heavy duty? We're looking for an aggressive stance just like yours. Do you have a part number and/or manufacturer?
Sorry this was a customers car
That is a beautiful car I got one
Yes it is!! Don't forget to subscribe
is it me or did he install the spring wrong side up? the open end was suppose to be at the bottom and the closer distance of the coil to the top. I could be wrong but definitely a great video. Thanks
I don't believe there's a top or bottom.
That was a great video but I didn’t see you put the shock back on
I have a 1964 Bonneville convertible. Is everything going to be the same?
Similar
You got skills bro. And do you know the tire size ? I want to run the same on my car.
Nice job,Thx!!
Thanks for watching
Well done, that's not an easy job on the ground 👍 326 engine ?
yup 326..it was a beautiful car
This is a good ass video
thank you..dont forget to subscribe
nice job
thanks for watching
Anytime you open up the suspension. You need to replace the ball joints
Oh yeah? Even if they are good? Please don't open a shop
Sorry I did see you put the shock on thanks
What about the spring that was on the old shock ?
Alan Serlin no need to use it..
JUST LIKE THAT!...
GOT TO GET ME AN IMPACT GUN!
Definitely helps
Is this ur car or customer? man she's beutiful
Customers car..yes she was a beaut..don't forget to subscribe
Wow a video on how not to use the tool incorrectly. Coil compressor arms are attached to the coil spring from the inside, no crowbar necessary.
How not use the tool incorrectly? So I'm showing how to use the tool correctly? LOL
@@klowny1969 lol I guess it was a compliment
Ughhh, you make this look way too easy! I have a 65 Lemans and a 65 Tempest and have had to take the front ends apart several times. The spring compressor that I have has the arms on the top and bottom and they are an absolute bitch to get on and off. I was hoping you would be using the same kind but it looks like your compressor is a new and improved version. I swear to you, several times I have been driven to tears trying to get that dang compressor out of the coil once installed...
One more time I have to put the front end back together on my Lemans parts car for no reason other than to get it rolling so I can get rid of the thing. I'm wondering if I should get the same style spring compressor that you are using or just suck it up and use the one I have and endure the psychological torture of trying to remove the damn thing.
Have you ever used the older style and do you have any pointers?
Hey..never used that style on this type of car..u can just go to autozone and rent the one i used for free..thanks for watching and commenting
Dude I for one feel your pain. Done lots of G-Bodies .and they are a bitch with the four hook compressor. Also lower ball joints. Then I learned about the tool lending at autozone. And good videos like this one.
IT'S NOT METRIC!!! SAE...........geez!
You will need to remove everything and start again spring not in right
Lol..it's in right..don't forget to subscribe 😉
Why would you have milameter nuts on a 60's american car.
You're right..however I find the millimeter sockets fit snugger sometimes..don't forget to subscribe 😉
I Knew There Was A Handsome Klown Behind The Camara lol
this handsome klown is single :) Do i know u by any chance?
+klowny1969 Haha Is That Right ?! No I Don't Know You, I Just Started Watching Your Videos, You Know To Learn A Thing Or 2
+Kassandra Sanchez awesome..i can teach u very well ;)
+klowny1969 & Where You From ?!
lol new york..u?
Do mine klowny
A lot of metric nuts and bolts on a Old American made car, mine have standard !
lol they are all standard..i just choose the metric equivalent :)
At 13.40 your putting the tool through the coils to the outside of the coil and grabbing the coil. You inserted the clamp upside down The coil clamp is NOT supposed to go through the coils it is supposed to grab the coil from the inside of the coil which makes it easier to grab more coils causing less tension on the assembly. SAFER. Ok a video on how to use the proper tool incorrectly is what I should have said.
That doesn't work on this car..I used it properly
Where's your video? I don't think it's the easiest way, but it works for him, so it doesn't really matter how he did it
@@klowny1969 no you didn’t , this was incorrect
damn this shit looks dangerous I think ima pay someone to do mine 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It is alot of work
No guts no glory
Metric on a 60s Pontiac?
19..3/4...same difference LOL
Stop confusing me. lol
hahhaa
13...1/2 same too. LOL
Yeah like 1and 5/16 is a 22mm
metric?....dont use those ball joint seperaters they destroy the ball joint boots
peppersdog1 what to use to separate them then??
a large hammer and hit them side on
Your shock bolts are strip
No they arent
Didn't you ever hear of a coil spring compressor LOL
I guess I jumped the gun but I would use a spring compressor to take it out with and put it back I got the same one he does
next time just take sway bar off
work around it babeeee
My 64 chevelle sits too low. This looks like a lot of work. I’d probably be better off taking it to a shop
The springs are huge on thses cars..makes things worse
Your using that spring compressor completely wrong
That was the best way to use it in this case
Kudos for making a video. But you have no skills. Sell the car and buy a import which has metric bolts 😊
You should watch more of my videos
Great looking car. Great job.
+Skip Rope thanks
