I liked that even though Godzilla always had a kill first mentality during the movie,he commanded Shimo to take revenge on Skar King AND let Kong have the opportunity to kill Skar King AND allowed Kong to have the victory Alpha roar at the end. I think that’s why Kong smiled at Godzilla
Considering Scar King was a Hollow Earth Titan/Enemy it's only fitting that the king of Hollow Earth be the one to destroy him, and Godzilla knew that. He knew that if he had been the one to destroy Scar king it would have been a serious blow to Kong's Confidence.
