Most people didn't get that far including most people who make videos on Snakewood lol I'm pretty sure the creator was like a 13 year old girl when it came out
OMG it reminds me of that one pkmn romhack done by a 13yro girl that had a kaizo version, where you were Arceus chosen and first boss had a lv 70 thundurus-therian or something like that then it went cringer and cringer. That saga legit had 4 games and self inserts, and some bosses had pkmn with inflated stats (not correct ones.)
While Snakewood is problematic at points and overly confusing at many areas...I weirdly respect it for being a massive change that tried to do something I've yet to see to its level. I would love to see more hacks that look to shake up things beyond "harder version of a base game" and attempt to alter a region in a massive way like this. It's super cringe and the puzzles in places like the Inquisition Base are just trial and error only, but won't lie that I laughed at the Deadly 7 a few times. We need more Snakewood like hacks....only with a more consistent story that doesn't change focus every 2 seconds
I played through the majority of the game before quitting, but hot damn was this game some bullshit. It was fun and I liked the story and everything, but christ was it unfair. Especially when a lot of the puzzles i had to look up because their solutions made no sense. If there was a more balanced game with the same idea as snakewood, then I'd probably be able to finish it.
I feel like most of these old hacks lack a sense of balance and were mostly made by people trying to make something different, which has its charm. It was a time when hardcore nuzlocking was not a thing and the stories were more cringe.

a random idea came into my head for are remake for the rom hack, you pick the classic 3 starter pokemon from gen 1, then a horde of zombies chase you until you get into a safe place. this will happen a couple of times (minus the starter choosing). the game gives you five pokeballs and the first town is the only place where there is no undead pokemon, it is about to crumble down and the pokemon know it, so all pokemon is a guaranteed catch in that town. there is no pc in the post apocalyptic world so you can't make a collection. after catching the wild pokemons (you can't catch the same Pokemon if you already catched one of the same) one of the citizens will get infected after getting you a tool so you can make wooden armor for your pokemon (after you have done it) you can only make 6 pieces of wooden armor from a single tree, after fleeing the town after witnessing the zombies you go on your adventure (or survival). if the pokemons get attacked after their armor is broken the pokemon will get infected if it gets hit again and you lose the game, the game is very generous when you lose and will send you back a couple steps back right before the encounter. you can equip max 3 layers of armor to your pokemon. sometimes a wandering trader will offer you some materials for armor, and a place for blacksmithing will be there from time to time, and there will be a bed that is equivalent of a pokemon center except the only function is to recover pp, you could fight along in a pokemon battle and punch undeads to death i guess, the blacksmithing location is for you to create armor for your pokemon the types of armor you can craft is wood:availabe with the tool durability: 25 maple wood: also available with the tool durability: 100 forge: steel armor: durability: 400 gun (basically a tm for a move for the player to fight with) damage: 500 bullet: acts as pp for the move "shoot" a move that is teached to the player by the item "gun" battling as the player has some benefits, the move "punch" doesn't consume a turn but you can only use it one per turn, same goes for "shoot" after using the player you can switch to another pokemon to fight along the gyms leaders is just mutated zombies that lead the hordes. if you defeat the gym leader, it will be a town with humans after returning to the town after going forward some routes mid game, you get to the blacksmithing place as usual and see a corpse with a diary,it says that he invented some sort of "self healing armor" that is basically steel armor that recovers 10 durability per step, but it can't be layered, there is 6 pieces of the self healing armor. very near end game, you see a strange medicine while heading to the bed to recover your pokemon's pp (it forces you to rest because the dialogue says that the player is tired) and you decide to use it on your starter and on the end game: the culprit of the whole apocalypse stands right before you, and the battle starts the fight isn't supposed to be won. after being forced to use your starter pokemon after the others armor got broken, it gets infected. but it doesn't attack you it retains its consciousness the brain didn't rot away. then you have the "awakening move: level steal" it steals the levels of the opponent then shares it evenly with the team, that exact pokemon is what the culprit mostly relies on. and the other pokemon in the opponent's has very lower level than the others, but its just as difficult. after killing him, all of the zombies turn into ash, including the undead starter that retained its consciousness after waving your final goodbyes one pc in the abandoned pokemon center boots up, and it gives you the option to free all of the pokemon inside the pc's, through dialogue it reveals that it takes place 50 years after the apocalypse, it says "it's not like anyone is alive and using this after 50 years in this wasteland" fast forward centuries later, humanity has recovered from the apocalypse, you are marked in history as a hero. and you see a boy about to get his first pokemon
And it was against a Pokémon with Belly Drum and Speed Boost whose trainer liberally spammed Full Restores. Basically the cheapest shit you can ever pull in a Pokémon game.

I've been Hardcore Nuzlocking Snakewood on my own time (having previously played Snakewood before and looking for the challenge), the Deadly Seven back to back x10 ambush at Lilycove is easily the most difficult part of the ROM Hack, especially with the Kenchukuos with blistering Speed, ridiculous Attack, Speed Boost and Belly Drum, if you can get past that the game remains difficult (especially going in Blind), but very manageable. For those curious, my first Snakewood HC Nuzlocke attempt died to some Witches outside Fortree, Temulence had ravaged my team (his Sleep Powdering Speed Boosting Fangasu is a wanted war criminal in 93 countries) and I thought I could make it to Fortree with just 4 alive Mons (I could not, not only were there more required battles than I expected, but they were also way harder than I remembered). Attempt 2 is going pretty well, I've not had the best luck with encounters besides a Modest Egg, which I of course evolved into Raikou, because Modest Raikou with Water Spout and Eruption is insane, but I'm close to the Horseman War fight with 0 deaths so far.

Meteor went well, though all the Water Types I had were largely terrible or dead, so I had to use my extremely valuable Ice Beam TM on Wailord, though with Rest this thing lowkey kinda slaps. I also have a Staryu (iirc guaranteed Super Rod encounter in Lilycove if you catch a Wailmer in a different route beforehand) in tow for when I get a Water Stone (which I had to look up and realized it's suuuuper late apparently) Also, apparently Graveler can evolve via Level Up in this game, but Machamp either doesn't or is incredibly late? idk, it's weird, but hey, Electric Immunity and Flying Resist are fantastic and EQ hits quite hard, can also Explode in a pinch.

durability: 100
forge:
steel armor:
durability: 400
gun (basically a tm for a move for the player to fight with)
damage: 500
bullet: acts as pp for the move "shoot" a move that is teached to the player by the item "gun"
battling as the player has some benefits, the move "punch" doesn't consume a turn but you can only use it one per turn, same goes for "shoot"
after using the player you can switch to another pokemon to fight along
the gyms leaders is just mutated zombies that lead the hordes.
if you defeat the gym leader, it will be a town with humans after returning to the town after going forward some routes
mid game, you get to the blacksmithing place as usual and see a corpse with a diary,it says that he invented some sort of "self healing armor" that is basically steel armor that recovers 10 durability per step, but it can't be layered, there is 6 pieces of the self healing armor.
very near end game, you see a strange medicine while heading to the bed to recover your pokemon's pp (it forces you to rest because the dialogue says that the player is tired) and you decide to use it on your starter
and on the end game: the culprit of the whole apocalypse stands right before you, and the battle starts
the fight isn't supposed to be won. after being forced to use your starter pokemon after the others armor got broken, it gets infected. but it doesn't attack you
it retains its consciousness
the brain didn't rot away. then you have the "awakening move: level steal" it steals the levels of the opponent then shares it evenly with the team,
that exact pokemon is what the culprit mostly relies on. and the other pokemon in the opponent's has very lower level than the others, but its just as difficult. after killing him, all of the zombies turn into ash, including the undead starter that retained its consciousness
after waving your final goodbyes one pc in the abandoned pokemon center boots up, and it gives you the option to free all of the pokemon inside the pc's, through dialogue it reveals that it takes place 50 years after the apocalypse, it says
"it's not like anyone is alive and using this after 50 years in this wasteland"
fast forward centuries later, humanity has recovered from the apocalypse, you are marked in history as a hero. and you see a boy about to get his first pokemon
The funniest part of this is it still has this cheery happy music in the background lmao
The pain at the end when he was wiped was crazy, I would go crazy after spending so much time too.
And it was against a Pokémon with Belly Drum and Speed Boost whose trainer liberally spammed Full Restores. Basically the cheapest shit you can ever pull in a Pokémon game.
Honestly I really wish that cutlerine would come back at some point and make a more refined product snakewood is a disaster but it's really interesting and I have a fondness for it
Great stuff Drxx!! Snakewood is cursed as heck
Now do a hardcore nuzlocke of one of the worst designed hacks ever, White 2 Kaizo
What’s wrong with it
Explain
You should continue this I was laughing my ass off the whole playthrough.
haha im trying to find more romhacks like this
@@Drxxyt While searching through romhacks I found a romhack called viatnemese crystal it is hilarious because of translation might want to check that out
@@denizarslan2533goofy ahh translation 💀
I love how for the sake of his sanity he just keeps going after the second attempt if he dies at the level 80 pokemon 💀
Do you know what is the game name?
@@velistacarlojhon3005 pokemon snakewood
"loot the dead pickachu's head"
How do you loot a SEVERED HEAD 💀
This rom hack would be better if they actually changed the cheerful town music for appropriately haunting tracks. Maybe the intention was to make it uncanny? Idk.
Truuue
I fucking love this hack.
Does a lot of really fun stuff, even if it's a bit rough at times.
43:20 The Way He Panicked At This Part Tho Thinking Theres Another Battle And Saved. 💀
Mightyena evolving into gigawolf killed me
I've been Hardcore Nuzlocking Snakewood on my own time (having previously played Snakewood before and looking for the challenge), the Deadly Seven back to back x10 ambush at Lilycove is easily the most difficult part of the ROM Hack, especially with the Kenchukuos with blistering Speed, ridiculous Attack, Speed Boost and Belly Drum, if you can get past that the game remains difficult (especially going in Blind), but very manageable.
Any updates on the run? Fingers crossed its good news lol
@@leannehetherington2164 made it to the E4 but I've fallen ill so haven't touched the game in a hot minute, lost Dragoone (crazy mfer with 175 SpDef and Dragon Dan- I mean Fury Dance) to Asimov's TTar Rock Slide crit outside the Maximum Security Vault bcuz I was reckless and I lost a Magneton because I forgot one of the Denjuu idiots had Mach Punch, I was low but thought I could tank like a STAB Grass Move.
I sacked like 2 Mons to Zombie Winona and I believe a third to Veracity? Don't remember exactly rn but I do remember attempting to blow up the Scar Lugia only for Electrode to do less than 50% and for me to realize Electrode was Lv100 on my damage calc, not 51...
I reached the Deadly Seven 1v10 b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b, lost 4 Mons including my Aerodactyl (which you can guarantee by repelling in Famine's Desert btw, it's the Red Gyarados of this hack) and my Gyarados, but survived with Modest Raikou, ended up losing a (Calm Nature lmao) Banette to Chloe because it stayed asleep for 15 years and died to repeated Rollouts from her Wigglytuff this thing was supposed to wall.
Meteor went well, though all the Water Types I had were largely terrible or dead, so I had to use my extremely valuable Ice Beam TM on Wailord, though with Rest this thing lowkey kinda slaps.
Been smooth sailing from there, just gotta finish my E4 prep and pray that the run isn't just dead because no Gyarados, Modest Raikou gotta carry.
@@Guil_thenewmeta i was hoping the raikou pulled through, first time i played this game i ended up with an entei and it just sped up every battle with how bulky it was
@@leannehetherington2164 yeah, Raikou is insane and if it dies I just reset because I'm out of good Mons
Hariyama has been amazing, though its part Normal Type giving it a Fighting Weakness has been more harmful than helpful, it and Raikou are my alive Mons that have put in the most work (Gyarados definitely rounds out the Top 3, but Mean Look Crobat in the 10v1 sealed his fate). I also have a Staryu (iirc guaranteed Super Rod encounter in Lilycove if you catch a Wailmer in a different route beforehand) in tow for when I get a Water Stone (which I had to look up and realized it's suuuuper late apparently)
Also, apparently Graveler can evolve via Level Up in this game, but Machamp either doesn't or is incredibly late? idk, it's weird, but hey, Electric Immunity and Flying Resist are fantastic and EQ hits quite hard, can also Explode in a pinch.
To be honest,
this is one of the most hilarious pokemon video in my life
the expression is so funny
especially when you see the blue ball in 15:07
This is so funny, but i have to say the sprites from pokemon and trainers were very well made in my opinion! Even if the creator doesn't like the hack, in some way, im glad he made it, its a part of rom hack history now!
This game is definitely not intended to be nuzlocked
i wish i knew that lol
God I remember when this was considered a must-play romhack next to Dark Rising
I am fond of Snakewood because I caught my first shiny there, that's the only reason
This is truly the weirdest rom hack created
hoo boy Snakewood... Heard some stuff about that one.
Anyway looking forward to your commentary on Race to Roxanne tomorrow! I'll be in Kidd's chat for sure.
honestly I feel like this game was too creative for it's own good, like the descriptions of corpses, jokes and designs are so cool, yet the story around it was really bad, like I know that wasn't possible for the dev, but imagine this being done by a 2 person team, one for story and puzzles, other one for visuals and other details
Your Zigzagoons carried you through these playthroughs.
The sprites are genuinely good. Then they messed up the player's back sprite. Then everything else is a mess. This would have been fine as an idea lol
3:01 he instant transmission out of there
I ran into 3 separate game breaking glitches and refuse to start over a 4th time 😂
I honestly couldn't stop laughing at your reactions to things for this entire video Drew 😂
tbh the best thing about this rom is the Egg evolution line
That egg becomes one of the most powerful things ever
Zombie apocalypse but with super cheerful tunes to murder the undead hordes with
I remember this from years ago. That puzzle pissed me OFF
Kingmadio is scary because it looks that simple.
One of the best series I've ever seen is pikasprey blue's playthrough of this hack, where he slowly loses his mind over the course of the series
This game is a horrific jumble of puzzles, ever changing story, and bullshit level curves. But damn if I still don't enjoy playing this hack. It's similar to "The Room" for me. It's awful, but that also makes it charming.
I consider this one of the hardest rom hacks I have ever played I am surprised that anyone attempted to make a nuzlock run of it but I don't blame you for save state restarting if your team gets wiped but losing a single or double downed it might be hard to continue
That first zombie was like:
"Bruuuhhh, cmon man i was gonna get a meal, why You gotta be like that?"
This video was hilarious. Something about watching someone else's suffering
Bruh, I played Snakewood a literal DECADE ago wth. What a trip though, I got far but never managed to finish it because some of the stuff was absolutely ridiculous but the memories are fond nonetheless
I actually really like this romhack! I was never able to beat it though-- I got stuck in an area by a glitch and wasnt able to proceed...
7:41
Dude literally got so frustrated he developed his own pokemon cry
Ah I remember this hack, reminds me of that 1 TH-camr who played this back in 2017/2018, the maze puzzle drove him mad
love how half the time your party gets wiped its cause your fast forwarding through a really tough battle that you thought would've been fodder
I quit after the frustrating puzzle area
And never touched it egain
Thx for showing me the end
9:31 i think the hollowed out corpse is like a zombie disguise so that the zombies think your one of them
SPOILER for the evolutions of Hyperegg
The best choice is actually Unown. Considering it has a BST of 888
wtf LOL
This is simultaneously the best and worst rom hack of all time
24:00 why would anybody make this? nothing like an invisible maze after the maze cave... this solidified my choice to never play this game
I remember playing this romhack around 6ish years ago. I absolutely love the chaotic energy this romhack possesses. I also love the Deadly Seven lmao lovely bunch
The Shiney arydactly in this game can be sent to ruby or sapphire and would technically be seen as a legit mon
Actual greatest Pokémon game ever made.
love it drxx, happy i hopped on youtube when i did
the utter whiplash of someone knowing how to play a rom hack but not knowing how to pronounce "pokemon"
the diacritic *means* something, people!
I love how he gave up on the nuzlocke half way through
I almost quit this god forsaken hack, the amount of bullshitting was way too much. I only kept on because I'm a stubborn bastard and the thought "Ah I made it here already, went through so much bullshit, might as well finish this stupid thing. What is a little fart for someone already covered in shit, right?"
That Leech Seed Miltank still gives me nightmares.
personally my favorite pokemon is now that circle with wonderguard
As much as I appreciate a darker tone for Pokémon, I have a feeling that this one is a little too dark. But who am I to judge when Pokémon takes place in a world full of soul stealing, bone crushing, and even planet busting monsters.
"Too dark" its literally a hack rom that tries to be so edgy that it looks goofy, how is it dark, this isn't dark, this is just a edgy 12 year old energy shi ☠️☠️☠️
@@ghosthegoated Yeah I can't argue with that. I just think that some concepts don't belong in a Pokémon game and this is one of them.
I love these videos of random romhacks, keep 'em coming
My guy you have more patience than I do. I made it to Lilycove City in this game and after getting defeated by a Kingmadio I quit. I usually finish the roms I start but this game made me wanna jump out of a window. Despite that I always recommend this game to people. 100,000/10 would recommend.
I remember this in middleschool, ahh such memorable times.
This feels like Pokemon Dusk on Drugs
The cheerful gen 3 Pokemon music kills the mood in the best way
2:40 damn what an advanced joke- you got the zombies leftovers so when you loot her you get…
22:01
Drxx: "Hahahahahaha"
Watson?: "Yo think diz iz funny?"
This game is the epitmome of "What do you want to do in the game" ... "Yes"
ITS WHUDONA! got me laughing hard at the beginning lol
What i learned from this video is Hombeast is insane
I love this game. It's so stupid that it wraps back around to brilliance
I loved playing Snakewood, it was ridiculous and fun and it was cool to have a romhack that was so different
Recommending this hack to us at the end? Recommending someone beat it blind? You might as well have told us to off ourselves.
And yes, I tried to beat it blind.
