Thanks a lot for this video, just got some for the enclosure for my new millipede and needed this rn! What was especially useful was knowing to break it apart a bit to let more get through!
I was considering using coco fibre for the first since I’m rehousing one of my tarantulas to a bigger enclosure but I was also considering having a small ‘succulent’ plant in there... However since you mentioned it’s not very beneficial or helpful to plants, I might try to mix some peat moss or soil in there too. Great video thanks for the information, I just subscribed to you!
Guys please help!! How do I store the left over ones after they’ve all damped , I put some in my rat cage but I want to save the rest .. it’s all damp though what do I do
Is there a way I could do this dry? I need a dry version of this as substrate, take a hammer or something and have at it and rip the rest apart by hand?
I need shredded coconut husk for a compost toilet. What is the easiest and quickest way to shred a brick of this stuff so it’s the consistency of thick saw dust? A knife will take way too long.
How do I sterilize this? I have an extra 10 gallon aquarium, so putting it in there to dry out before using. (using it to mix with forest floor for snakes, so use it dry) Should I bake it to sterilize? Thanks..
Hey loved the vid but i have a question. I bought one from a walmart.it told me to use a gallon of water. I did. It absorbed it but is still feels a bit wett. Can i use it if its still wett? I have a beareded dragon. Or do i let it be to air dry im not sure. Please any help wil help.
I just mixed the coco fibre with coco husk and moss to make a substrate for my African fat tail. I added live plants but I left the plants in those plastic cups they come in. (I cleaned the plants and used new dirt for them) hopefully she’ll feel more at home now as she isn’t settling in well yet. I eventually want to go bio active for her (and my leopard gecko) but I’m not sure yet how as I can’t get the product a lot of people use online :(
NORTHERN EXOTICS yeah me too! I looked up some DIY mixes for bio active substrate but I can’t really find anything that seems save. I don’t want to use sand and I can’t get earth mix arid over here (Netherlands). Hopefully one day a brand will come out with a good bio active substrate for leopard geckos
I just bought coco husk from exo Terra.. this is different than the soil you have? Does is make a difference. Can I also put coco husk on a background with silicone? Also, the cocofiber needs to be dry before putting it on the background. If I mix it with this water, how will it dry?
Not sure if you got my mail, but I lost my Savannah monitor. He just hit 6 months old, and I dont get what happened. He had no parasites, vet gave him clear bill of health. Had humidity at 60% heat was on point, but day he died I did up his basking spot from 110 to 120 and gave him a big concrete brick to lay on because he was climbing and hanging under the uvb light. So thought he wanted more heat. 6 hours later I found him upside down passed away next to the block. I sat and cried for an hour.. I still enjoy your videos man, and will keep watching.
Savannah's are tough man. I've never kept a monitor but I've read and learned alot keeping other reptiles. Have you ever seen Clint's Reptiles review of Savannah's? He talks about how challenging they can be, and about how the husbandry isn't quite there yet when it comes to knowing and meeting all of their needs. I applaud anyone who puts the time and energy into caring for any reptile. Especially one that is so often discarded or mistreated in such a blatant manner as Savannahs. I'm sorry about your loss, it's hard to lose any animal.
@@theanimaladdiction I actually adopted a Tegu yesterday. She is 2 year old and was not properly taken care of. She was kept in a 40 breeder so she is very small for her age, and missing quite a few toes due to bad sheds. Watched this a couple of times and have liked it for reference, thank you mate it's really helped me and you explain it very clearly. Keep up the good work and have subbed.
After I hydrate the Coco fiber it takes FORVER to dry. I put it in a ventilated box and it's still wet. I can't dry it outside because maggots appear within hours. It's becoming a problem. Just realized I probably used too much water even though I followed the instructions.😒

if you expand the coco coir in a burlap or hemp sack, you can squeeze water out from overhydration. especially useful for small amounts.
Loved the lizard sliding on the glass. Very lovely.
he is amazing
Watched this to figure out how to do it for my houseplants so thanks mate! Works for us gardeners too! :D

Is this a good substrate for a corn snake.
Not perfect because dry it can be dusty
Can my plants temporarily stand in coco fiber until I get the plantation soil? Or will that absolutely kill the plants
Sure
Thanks for the information I am a gardener and what to try out coco for some plants. Much love from 🇨🇦 and gave you a 👍 for this video.

Hi, just wondering what the difference is between Exo Terra Eco Earth and the Habistat Coco fibre?
Nothing haha find the cheapest . All Coco fibre is the same. Be careful with gardening Coco fibre
First time using this product and your tutorial was very helpful thank you 👍
It costs me £3.50 for a 650g brick from my local reptile shop.

When using for mouse enclosure should I leave the substrate loose or press it down? I’ve mixed it with moss. Help I’m clueless 😅
I'm not to clued up on mice sorry
caitlin h be very careful with the moss and such, sometimes they’ll eat on it. It can cause impaction
Dosnt matter. Loose is better for digging. I have a hamster but am getting mice soon so I have been researching
Would you recommend this for a carpet python
It's good for keeping higher humidity
