My friend showed me this song one night before we went to go see a movie 3 years ago, and it was fucking awesome. He died in december 2014, so this song will always make me think of him.
May your friend rest easy. Or be a fucking lion reincarnated. No one really knows homie, either way best of luck to all involved and all reading, a soul evolves as one. I'm high. ✌
As much as I LOVE the new material, there's just something about how PI and the songs from this EP (along with Bulb's original work) just hit me and stays with me. This is what hits me with nostalgia, man.
Bulb and Periphery is the same band if you never even know. Bulb is just for self music for periphery along side with no vocals and Demonstrations. For example, Periphery gave Jetpacks was Yes to the demonstration band named Bulb before adding vocals.
bulb was misha before periphery, they don't exist hand in hand really minus the fact occasionally misha takes old bulb demos. Also there are a couple of bulb songs with vocals such as helioplause @@NoName-sg8pz
It's just better and more creative I love the new stuff too but p1 blows my mind still while very few of the newer stuff is that crazy. They got better at composing epic tracks but way worse at heavy stuff and just making kick ass songs
Ive heard so many bands that just come and go but Periphery to me is gonna be one of those bands that will carry on the metal torch and that will be around for awhile Im looking forward what the future of this band will have in store!

masterpiece of the periphery library by far, sure im new to this band, only been listening to periphery for like 3 months and have been really restricted to what i listen to but listening to some other really good songs of theres and some of the ones i personally like but my friend doesn't like "The Price is Wrong," i think this is my favorite, i think of "Jetpacks Was Yes" as the first periphery song to come to my head. This comment was useless for sure, but i just wanted to say this is best in my taste :P
Vocal harmonies are changed a bit too in several parts of the song: the end of the first chorus, for example, makes the lower voice stand out more than the higher one 1:08, whereas the first version had the higher note stand out (if there even was a harmony)--and the guitar solo is different--instead of just ending it on a regular note as done in the first version, the whammy is used on a slightly higher note 2:17. Stuff like that has changed, and what josevonbuergenwader said is also right.
Farah Lee some people can be very rude on the internet! but yeah, I find both versions amazing but the bridge on 2.0 suits more my musical style, idk i'm a melodic guy!
It's hard to choose between the two versions of this song. This one has much better production, and Spencer sounds objectively better at a lot of points, but he also made some little changes that kind of take away from the emotional impact, such as getting rid of the resolve at 1:10. Also, there's the obvious replacement of the section starting at 2:42. I keep going back and forth on which one works best.

I love Periphery generally, but the fact that songs as djenty as Icarus Lives, and then songs as spine-chillingly melodic as this can come out of the same band is a testament to both their talent and their pure frekin' awesomeness. THIS is how music should sound, not the factory-produced garbage that people call music nowadays. Stay metal, keep music alive. \m/ ^_^ \m/
RoachDogg Jr I can see where that got lost in translation. What i'm trying to say is I have other favorites that are just as good as this one so it would be hard to say.
@Jimbob8225 Actually they did change singer, it was the same singer on the released album though but when the songs where originally recorded it was somebody completely different and he wasnt happy in the slightest that the songs were re-recorded by the bands current formation
My friend showed me this song one night before we went to go see a movie 3 years ago, and it was fucking awesome. He died in december 2014, so this song will always make me think of him.
Im sorry dude
IIcyTom may your friend, who had amazing taste in music, rest in peace. and may he jam in heaven with the fallen gods of metal.

same
im sorry to hear. he clearly had a good taste in music.
Honestly I want a 3.0 with this now that Spencer has fully realized the higher timbre in his voice.
Racecar, Jetpacks Was Yes and Insomnia need a remake. Icarus Lives too.
Jetpacks Was Yes 3.0 - just with a remastered and better P3 sound + P3 vocals.
All of this.
I loved when he song like this. Before Periphery II
Gabe Simmons AB-SO-FUCKING-LUTELY
Nah he just needs to sing it over Dearly Beloved

This song is perfect. This is the most romantic sounding metal song ever in my opinion.
Ive heard so many bands that just come and go but Periphery to me is gonna be one of those bands that will carry on the metal torch and that will be around for awhile Im looking forward what the future of this band will have in store!
For real. Can't wait to pull out these CDs when my future kids ask what music I listened to in college.
It’s 2017 and they are still one of the top metalcore/melodic djent bands there is
Omar Rios you still into them?
And then they released Hail Stan.
@@yuugur666 And now they're gonna release P5
... is no one going to talk about the beautiful outro of this song?!?!
no, the beauty speaks for itself
Goosebumps every damn time! The whole song is a god damn masterpiece but that outro gives off the craziest of vibes :D
Perceive beyond the seam!
Those high notes! Gosh, I love this song.
that Eb5 at 3:30 gave me literall chills
Likewise ;v;
Thank you Periphery to bringing this to the world
2:41 and on is what makes this song for me. i fucking love this version.

Jan 2020 and im now just finding this song out
Singing I waste life like it's nothing but a fantasy makes me tear up man too true for me
3:08 shivers...
I visited manila just last week. Came back tonight. I loved the city!
Discovered this band today, just purchased all the discography.
That final chorus hit my heart way too hard
I can't fucking stop listening to this! The music is so dense and atmospheric, and Spencer's singing is fucking incredible!

I'm glad you're like that. Too many people are instrumental elitists and believe they should almost control what the band does.
still jamming in 2024!
i played this the exact same time as the first version of this song and omg it sounds so good
+Jordan Gervoe Thank you so much

My balls finally dropped guys after listening to this,,,,, this the good shit.
They should make a music video for this song :) so many creative ideas come to mind id love to see their interpretation of it
my old boxing coach died today so I hope no one minds this..
Coach Joe Haze -2016
R.i.p Joe Haze, sorry to hear that.
Hydrogen Nuke I upvote this everytime I check this track. Sorry for your loss dude.
Thank you guys :)
Rip coach Joe. May you rest in peace.

i love this song!!!!!!! this version is so good
All cleans and no harsh vocals in this version.
It Is Periphery! V.20 yes!
Why havent I been listening to this until now? Its amazing
Jetpacks Was Yes V2.0 is better because of this part! ---> 2:42
Takashi White Jetpacks Was Yes (not the v2.0 one) was pretty good because of this part --> @3:06
Meshugginal Gaze grow up
Farah Lee some people can be very rude on the internet! but yeah, I find both versions amazing but the bridge on 2.0 suits more my musical style, idk i'm a melodic guy!
I completely agree! Close to the end it starts to overlay a bit, but I think it just sounds great as it's a slower fade out from excellence
2019 and still relevant AF!
I get chillbumps everytime i hear thus song

@TheTigerWoodsXP Gaming Experience Heard satellites recently? What's your take on that?
Anything else think the clean guitar at 2:23 sounds a bit like the steel drums you hear in Jamaican music? Still awesome.
why doesnt this have a million+ views?
one of my favorite songs ever
that solo was juicy bro

3:26-4:00 is the best part of the song
it's restructured a bit towards the end and spencer's improved vocals are rerecorded with singing parts replacing the screamed bridge in the original.
Best song they've done.
The periphery 1 track names are hilarious lmao
Sometimes I like to sing the bridge from the original version over this one. It fits a lot better than most would expect.
Maybe one of the most emotional songs ever in history ... !
This would sound so freaking amazing with the current Spencer
this reminds me SO much of sleeping with sirens. no complaints, just does
i want this on spotify now pls
It is on Spotify, under the 'Icarus Lives EP', track 3.
The position of the vocals and the quality of the guitars. Think of this version as an HD Remake.

Arguably one of my favorite songs of all time. It's too bad they took this album off Spotify :(
+HoblinGoblinz I FUCKING FEEL YOU! I LOVE AND HATE SPOTIFY AT THE SAME TIME!
Cody “arguably” as if someone would debate whether it’s your favorite lol

They fucking took it off google play too im pissed
...it's on Spotify now? What are you talking about?
3 Weeks ago this song including the albums are in Spotify. But now it's no longer there again :((
how can one not like this?

Exactly. Also around the ending.
I love this version better than the first.
2018 and still good 😊
It'll be still be amazing for decades to come :D
2020 still amazing 😊
This version is so good
That's my favourite part as well.
This is amazing. Much better version of the song
I have a child friend, he's 9. And he really loves this song.
Last thing, Periphery's first album has jetoacks was yes on it. A couple years later they remastered it and holy fuckamoley. Please cover it
They already have one, dude. o.o
version 1 and 2 played at the same time is the best sounding option, at least for me
electrifying!! Play this LIVE! 1:56

I feel like sponce got really good while recording the ep because from then on he has become incredible not that P1 wasnt orgasmic ;)

It was re-recorded. Just like the version of Icarus Lives that is on this same EP.
There are slight differences.
good version
The vocals are definitely way better, and the overall production quality is better. Also, from 2:42 until the end is different from the original.
Is youtube doing a seriously poor job at buffering videos for anyone else? Cuz i doubt it's my computer deciding to randomly crap out for no reason

How was this ten years ago 😭
Good question.
@Newworldfortomorrow i know :D i think the guy was asking did they change from released album when doing the EP :)
Awesome comment was awesome ;)
plot twist: Jetpacks was no.
