We had to tear out one wall and battle with this INSANE DIY washer/dryer issue!

  • Moving day 2024 to our new 575 acre Missouri farm! In today's episode we will definitely keep things real here at Kapper Outdoors 2.0! On the last episode we had the movers bring in all of our 'house' stuff (that's important later on in this series as you will see) and well, the refrigerator and washer and dryer installation did NOT go very smooth! In this case, IF it could go wrong, it DID go wrong! So our 'modern' refrigerator did NOT fit in the home refrigerator slot, so we had to tear out the drywall just to get it to squeeze into place! We did not want to buy a new refrigerator since our's was only a couple of years old so we did the DIY rehab project of tearing out the drywall just to get the refrigerator to fit! Oh, and then it gets better; the washer and dryer did not fit! And on top of that the previous owner's had a DIY washing machine fiberglass base installed in case the washing machine ever leaked onto the oak hardwood floors in the laundry room. Needless to say this was a DIY rehab nightmare in tearing out the home made fiberglass leak station and the plumbing that was connected to the septic system that was associated with it! But hey, in the end it was a looooong day, but we emerged victorious as new homeowners on moving day to our new Missouri farm! Thanks for joining us today, we are glad you could tag along on all of our real life journies, if you enjoyed today's video episode please hit the like button and consider subscribing to follow all of our new Missouri Homestead and land management videos as we will be brininging them fast and furious, nearly one episode per day as we seek to tackle this amazing new, yet 'fixer upper' Southern Missouri Ozarks farm! Only 2 trips to Menards, not half bad! I’m usually a 3 trip minimum for every project. Stupid 11% rebate forms all over the place!

Good job opening up the wall for the fridge, interesting custom drain pan that the previous owner made for the washer.

I hear ya. I have the unique ability to take what should be an easy fix/repair/replacement and making 2-3 new problems that compounds the original one.

lmao I guess we share that 'unique' ability!! Yep, seems I can make things more difficult than they need to be!! But hey, this one was a success!! Have a great weekend!

The drip pan under the washer was a good idea in theory. I bet you could buy on to set the machine in later on. Hate built in refrigerators for that very reason. Appliances aren't all the same size anymore. Land sure is pretty though.

Well It was a decent idea but imo not needed! Took a lot of frustration to break it free and then get it capped off! But overall a success! Thanks have a great weekend!

Evidently a lot of the things the previous owner did…was way higher than the good enuf for who it’s for work. But now that you gotten hold of the house demolition and making it work fixes, we’re definitely back to doing things “good enuf for who it’s for “. To be honest , I’d probably have done exactly the same thing!!

Yes he spared no expense on 'most' things! But a few things that they skimped on are very perplexing! But this was a no brainer, and worked out well! And easy to 'clean it up' and make it look decent!

Looked like that wall by the refrigerator could have been removed to make things really easy

Not really I did look at that but since it was tied in with the cabinet system I just did not want to go there! This was quick and overall mostly easy, and to make it look decent we have minimal amount of work to do for some trim and paint.

To me I wonder why anyone would put a refrigerator next to an oven. You know that the refrigerator needs to breathe. We had the rounded corners in our house in Florida and I like to rub my back like a bear and with those kind of edges it doesn't work. We had new washer and dryer that we bought after moving to Missouri because the people who bought our house wanted the ones we had just bought a month or 2 before selling. The guy who bought our place was an attorney and he assumed I was leaving my tractor. Ha ha no!

The underside of the frig is what needs to breath so it will do fine. The backs are covered now days.

I've seen pans under water heaters before, but not washers. The guy that built that house wasn't taking any chances!
