- Guys...I cannot believe this Cyclops player than I ran into in X-men vs Street Fighter... He ACTUALLY showed me an insane amount of combos that completely solidifies that he is number 1 in this game. He also may have brought out some salt... I'll get him next time I see him!

i think the idea is hilarious that cyclops has this super power but instead of using it all the time he gets ripped and just beats people down with his fists
Bc he is the Optimus Prime of Marvel.
His other power is extreme spartial awareness.
You can not always depend on a single super power. He basically became Batman plus Optic Blasts.
Cyclops canonicaly(at least presently cuz...you know) Has super strength in his line up of powers; But similar to wolverine; the "Main weapon/power" takes the highlight.
This is one of the funniest descriptions of Cyclops ever

Their gameplay makes the game look so incredibly good.

Jesus, that cyclops was giving the business. Every time he was working you in the corner, the screen vibrating with the hits coming in made the combo that much more satisfying to watch 🤣

BTW, the match where Justin ties up the score at 4-4 is a showcase of why the inclusion of SF characters in the Marvel engine was a bad idea if you were a fan of Marvel Superheroes (the game, that is; y'know, the one that came out before XSF).
See, the SF characters were not designed for this crazy Marvel engine, even with vastly looser combos and higher mobility. So as a way to help compensate the SF characters, Capcom gave them all really strong, easily-comboable supers, and then drastically increased super gauge building universally.
The problem with *that* is that the Marvel characters, most of whom had strong supers themselves, were *not* designed to have such frequent access to them. If you go back and look at X:COTA and MSH, even with all the crazy combos, super usage is very restrained compared to later games. So all that ended up happening is that a handful of the SF characters got stupidly good (see also: CHun-li) while the X-characters became monsters, and the game devolved into super spam and then infinites.
NOw I'm a fan of the Marvel games on the whole (er, maybe not counting Infinite; I even have a soft spot for MSHvsSF since that was the first one I really played, even though it's not good), but I would have liked to have seen a proper sequel to MSH, with that same style engine (minus infinites) and more restrained gauge building. But oh well.

This takes me back. My first year at uni, there was an X-Men vs SF cabinet near the cafeteria. I was always 'casually' decent at the game (the kind of person that could do well against other casual players, but would get whomped by anyone who knew what they were doing) - though at the time, I had never met anyone who knew what they were doing.
Then I had some games with a fellow member of the anime club, and I got to experience first hand just how insane the combo system in the game is. I had so little room to do anything, and was getting combo'd off screen. It was *nuts* to my casual brain.
I wish storm didn't moan all the time, that cyclops was saving my ears.

My local arcade had a gentleman’s agreement for no infinites among all the regulars. Minus the Rogue/Bison infinite which was too savage, too difficult not to appreciate.
