Shabani is such a fantastic father, very patient and tolerant, I don't see the silver back momotaro playing like that with his sons lol Shabani was raised in a family group which probably made all the difference. Hard to believe that he was once known as the tyrant x
Momo has been filmed playing with gentaro but like humans gorillas have different personalities. Momo isn’t as playful as shabani but he still is very gentle with his sons
@SchizoKira What are you talking about concerning Momotaro personality? He likes to keep his distance away from the rest ofhis family. It is just the facts regarding him. He occasionally play with Gentaro. He is a handsome silverback, it is not in him to play with his boys.
@SchizoKira I love Momotaro I think he has been give a bad rap. He did not have a male Gorilla to learn from and is doing the best he can do. He is very gentle with his sons. Its a shame that there are not enough females in Japan but I think Annie would be perfect for Gentaro. I heard that they are not letting Genki breed anymore due to her age. I feel for Momotaro as he is the Brad Pitt of gorillas! he is a beautiful looking gorilla.I agree l also wish that their enclosure was better, as its just one big cage, though it has a lot of climbing frames which is why Kintaro is like a monkey when it comes to climbing. Sadly with the present situation in zoo's around the world due to the Pandemic they are facing difficult times and closure due to lack of money I cant see any improvement in the future. It gladdens my heart to see all the like minded people who love the Japanese Gorillas as much as I do. We can all hope that one day there will be no need to keep them in a zoo to protect them from extinction.

Shabani is such a family man. I love to watch his interactions with his children, especially the horse play with Kiyomasa. It is always a little rougher and funny.

Shabani has done an excellent job at raising his two gorilla children. Look at Kiyo, he's not afraid of Shabani, but respects him. There's so much love in this troop.
They do laugh just like we do. There's a couple of videos of young gorillas and chimps laughing when the caretakers tickle them. It's the cutest thing to hear.

Momotaro is Shabani’s step-nephew-in-law by mating, Shabani’s full brother Hayoko got with Momotaro’s mother Momoko (aka Merry) and they had two kids together, daughters Komomo and Momoka. Momotaro is Merry and Biju’s son. I swear, gorilla family trees are such knots 😬
@@karmapunch3410 well, I think it gets confusing.... maybe if they added JR or the second or tweaked the name a little so you know one is mom ... like Momyoko or Momokas. Easier when researching families.

Many male gorillas settle down between age 15 and 20, so maturing and also the new gorilla house did him a great job, IMO👍
I really think moving to a bigger space has made a difference too. I feel bad for Momo, wish they’d get a better space. 🙏🏼
