I love this! I think states are going to have to rethink the landscape of ratios if the issues with staffing continues. In NC they’re now discussing allowing home providers the option to offer pre-k programs. Still doesn’t put a dent in the problem of quality and space.
I’m also curious about how you offer diapers and wipes-do you build this into your monthly rate? How were you able to anticipate the amount needed each week when you first started?
Finally, I’m still in the home but my hope is to do a full Summer program for all students enrolled. That way teachers can keep up with their own group and ages don’t have to be blended in every event. Just a thought that I hope helps, as you have provided me with so much information and motivation over the last few years!

Before I first opened I just bought multiple boxes of each size. I no longer buy newborn or 1’s because we have never used them. I did build it into my tuition. I’m telling you it’s been great not having to worry about chasing parents for them. Once in awhile I’ll have a parent want to bring in a different brand and that’s fine but I don’t discount their tuition. I buy my diapers at target and always take advantage of their $20 GC sale with every $100 spent in diapers so I buy them those weeks the sale is happening.

@@learntoplay22 Good idea! Target brand and Costco (Kirkland) brand are the best that I’ve come across, so that makes sense. Thank you for sharing, and continued blessings to you and the business!

In the next town over there has been a halt on opening a Centre due to a lack of employees. It seems to be a problem everywhere!

It’s so frustrating. Especially being in a small town.

I love your blogs as I mentioned before I have been subscribed to your channel since you were doing home daycare. As I said I worked in the childcare field for 20yrs both in center daycare & as a private nanny. In the daycares I’ve worked in the parents always provided the diapers/wipes. I just wanted to know? you provide them. I think it would be more cost effective if the parents provided the diapers/ wipes. Just curious.

When I broke down the cost it’s roughly $.17 a diaper so if the child is there 5 days a week and they go through 4-5 diapers a day that averages out to roughly $3.80/week or $15 a month. My tuition is roughly $15-20 more a week then my competition and the families actually love that they don’t have to worry about either of those and simply just have to bring in spare clothes.

So I actually profit from supplying both of these.

What is your cost per child per day for food, snacks, juice and lunch?

Back in 2021 my cost was around $60-$70 week. Todays market that’s probably more like $120 I would think

Could you talk about the hiring process?? Like the paperwork and where to send it in? Hope that makes sense!
    Loved this video! ❤

I believe that’s all handled through that Gusto program we use for payroll. I don’t believe I mentioned but we do have to pay for each employee per pay period in gusto and we also have to pay a fee for tuition express the app the parents pay through. Last month it cost me $600
