Shame just got my 400c and put it through its paces in asheville was absolutely instrumental to what we were able to do and gave zero issues in 4 days of hard cutting
@zachschmitt7464 yeah I love mine. I was thinking about buying another one and putting it up. I think the 400c will be a very sought after saw once it's gone from production.
Us current 400 owners will just have to wait for the updated 462 in a few years. The new 400 is just an improved 362. The compact and light almost 70cc saw, will be gone...for now. Current 462 is chubby.
I think stihl is making a mistake discontinuing the 400c,but its their money. I can see discontinuing the 362,but its frustrating to customers switching models every few years.
400c is a sweet saw. People seem to complain about it doesn't oil the best with a large bar so they upgrade to the 461 or 462 oiler if i remember right. Yeah if i can't get the larger rounds to split in 2 whacks its getting sawed in half! I just turned 60 and ive noodled alot of wood in the last few years!
@@oakiewoodsman Absolutely very close. I haven't been up to my buddies yet after Corey did the muffler to see how close they are now! Both about the same chain speed before with a tiny bit of torque edge to the 400.
Sad on the 362 but as long as parts are available I'm good my other saw is a 500i and yep I like her too. Hope everyone is haveing a great day . Wish I was out in the yard right now but working hell week come on Friday ;-)
the 362 is a Mustang v6. Its ok but its a big heavy saw that cant hold a candle to a 462... The 462s price got skewed because they want to sell this 400 for 1100... So they bumped up the 462 to 1300... Now they understand that a 60cc saw is kinda a v6 mussle car... Its not a V8 and its not a Nice 4 banger 50cc 261 so what is it... To me Ive ran my 462 and my 362 enough to say. There is NO reason to use a 362 when you can get a 462 for a few hundred more. To save 1/2 a pound of weight and Loose 2 HP... NO thanks.. And to me a 462 can pull a 25 inch bar NO issues.
writing was on the wall for the 362 when the 400 and 462 came on to the market, hard to sell a saw that pretty much weighs the same but comes nowhere close to the power output of the other two. Didn't think they would also discontinue the 400c makes sense from a company marketing point maybe not what the customer's like though, bridge the gap in the model lineup with one new saw instead while getting rid of a saw with poor sales numbers in the lineup ie 362 = more profit for Stihl.
I had a 362 for a couple days. It was a nice saw. I replaced it with a 400. Love it even more. Especially after having it walkerized. Keep thinking that i should have just got a 462. But the 400 is a keeper. I wonder if the 400.1 will be fuel injected?
Its carbureted and its called MS 363 officially. I guess the costs of the injection system doesnt make it worthwhile at lower cc prices. The 500i got the 70-90cc locked in.
@anthonycengia6593 they are only going to have one 60cc pro class chainsaw. I have seen it on the German forums and seen it ran on a forestry channel. Yes I have several stihl saws. So they are going to discontinue the ms362 and 400c and the new saw coming out in summer of 2025 will be the 400.1 a 62cc pro saw.
@MrDragland go to (Foresty Journal ) youtube page. Watch the video titled ( why stihl is launching a new rear-handled 60cc chainsaw) no gimme just trying to be informative
This sucks but makes sense. The 362 gets smoked by huskys 562 so it doent sell well. The 400c is great but it's very close to the 462 and is cutting into it's sales. The new ms400.1 is built to compete with huskys 562 and will be very close to it power/weight wise but it will be noticeably different from the ms462 so you dont pick it over that.

Good to hear
Forcing people to move up to the 462 who don’t won’t the power reduction. I’m loving my 400.
Will be interesting to see what they do!
