Absolutely insane that this video doesn't have 100k+ views and this channel doesn't have 20k+ subs. This is such extremely high quality content that it's almost criminal that it's available for free!

Thanks! Honestly, I don't even think this is one of my better videos, but I'm glad you found it useful! I'll be doing some extended heating videos this fall as we move into the colder months and I bring out my boost heaters. My more recent videos explain some new things I'm doing with my Pico W thermostat; Although, I need to get back to some of those topics as well because I got busy with a few other projects and now I've been side tracked with my mobile smart home (smart camper) project.

Thanks for this video. Well presented!
I’ve been considering doing this and hadn’t even thought to add controls for my bathroom and attic fans. :)

There's a lot you can do with a simple thermostat. I'm glad you liked the video!

Wow thanks for such a detailed explanation on furnace operation and relative humidity you sound like a HVAC expert

I am glad you found the information useful, please make sure to double and triple check all of your specific needs and data before attempting any modifications to a professionally installed system. I am not a certified professional--though, if I can someday afford the fee, I would gladly take classes and attempt a certification one day, to fill in gaps in my own knowledge.

6:30 I don't think it is ever discussed how to wire the buckConverter-Cwire-raspberryPi. I'd like to do this for my own project but can't find information...

You are correct, good catch. I also failed to mention that you need a rectifier to convert the AC to DC. Here's what you'll need:
      amzn.to/3Tuoi7K
The red and blue wires coming from the hvac unit (furnace or otherwise) will be carrying 24 VAC, you can connect them in no particular order to the red wires on the above device. Then, you will need this:
      amzn.to/3tBvF2x
You would connect the black wire from the rectifier (ac-dc converter) to the terminal marked GND on the underside of the buck converter and connect the yellow to the terminal marked 5V. Then, with that particular buck converter, you can just use a short USB cable for power to a Raspberry Pi.

omg man...how you explain...not any hesitation while you are speaking. Is there some video where they explain how to build an android...like you?
    Amazing video btw

I take that as a huge compliment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'll have an updated video on the thermostat stuff in the summer. I've been working on some upgrades and housings.
