The problem with this dude is his never ending attacks. You mess up once and it throws everything off. Then we you finally take him down he fucking transforms.
This is a long boss fight because you can’t cause him any damage longer than one or two light hits before you have to hit circle and dodge to get distance. His combos are way too long and you can’t break them. This boss fight is about patience. As soon as he hits you once or blocks your freeze spell it’s pretty much over. If you have to use your health gorge more than once for the first phase then it’s pretty much done there lol. Another problem I ran into was mana. If you don’t have enough you can’t use your spells and you’ll just be frustrated on phase 2 when you can’t do anything but dodge.
@@rahulmallah8306 dude I felt so accomplished when I beat him. Black wind king was hard but nowhere near white clad. White clad took me four days. Black wind took me one hour. Remember the ultimate attack on the transformation is based on using heavy attack after a dodge(back forward or side) and if u have a focus point, itll use up might and use the big aoe attack
This boss is an important challenge, because he is basically an exam for the rest of the game. The game doesn't want you to get passed him without having gotten the fundamentals on how focus works down. If you made it this far just spamming attacks, this guy will set you straight so you won't learn too many bad habits.
I love how Whiteclad literally says "Courage ALONE will not guide you far" meaning you can't beat him just charging and mashing buttons doing combos i.e. being courageous. You gotta be patient, you gotta be calm, you gotta wait and you gotta be willing to learn from your mistakes.

lol... then die 50 times learning the bosses fighting technique... you will eventually learn it and know how to beat him on your own. its a great game - you just gotta git gud
I just defeated him after trying for 3 days. In phase 1 I just kept my distance. Listened to his grunts to know when he was going to long-distance lunge at me, then dodged. I would get in 1-2 hits then back off. Sometimes I risked a heavy attack that I would start charging before his lunge. Which sometimes landed. I repeated all this until he entered phase 2. Then I still had some health potions and my transformation, spell and special attacks stored. I unleashed them on him one after the other, then continued my strategy from phase 1 until he was defeated.
The message I got from this fight is to be patient and not be greedy. After you get your hits back off or perfect dodge . You can’t go for that extra hit. Then as he said let him come to you and to top it off there isn’t a shrike for a while after so I’d go back and heal.
Pritty sure the trick to getting this guy is to use a diffrent stance, the one where you pearch ontop of your staff, cuz this guy got alot of low sweeaping attacks
@@james_tiberius_kirk73There’s one issue with that, in Phase 2, he regens health. I was staying away, dodging his full screen thrust, hitting him a bunch, then get distance again. very helpful. just to clarify: the scarlet gourd is only dropping for the owners of the deluxe version of the game. And the evil repelling medicament can only be bought a few times, then the store is depleted.
I found out that he always begins with the same move. If you dodge this one you have the perfect window to follow up with the Wandering Withe attack. It’s a guaranteed hit ✅
for anyone struggling: when he first comes at you dodge and immediately use the wandering wight summon. then freeze him and get a combo in. then use the fireblade transformation and spam heavy attack. keep your distance but be aggressive as soon as he finishes attacking and quickly dodge away. use the fire blade transformation as soon as the cooldown is back and use freeze whenever possible. my build: full pilgrim set, cat eye beads (drops from wandering wight). sparks: 1 point in simian agility 5 points in health 2 points in stamina resolute counterflow pillar stance just in case but it shouldn't be necessary wuthering wight has 1 level of upgrade
One thing I noticed when watching such tutorials is that the boss has moments where they stay still or sway left and right for several seconds allowing him to be thrashed repeatedly. But when I play that actual boss he NEVER stays still! This is true with the Wandering Wight video tutorials as well. Maybe it's a timed algorithm depending on what moves you made as well as your perfect dodges... Overall I see it as a cheap shot that the boss recovers and dodges instantly and hits you so fast that he interrupts your every move or combo, compared to the fact that you actually take 2 seconds just to recover and stand up, and that you can only drink from your gourd if you stop your attacks/dodges and walk.
Patience. It took me 4 hours to beat him but need to be calm and patience to strike him in first phase and on 2 to give him all u got Funny that he pretty much make me learn the game more from the mistakes i made.
The trick to defeat this boss and other bosses is to memorize their moves and dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, and then hit. Keep the spells when the enemy bar reaches to 50% as the second phase is almost tougher. Once he is in the second phase, start using the mana. Give him no quarter. Don't let him rest. One spell after another. The tiger transformation is a tough figure, use him in the last phase. Make sure to keep upgrading him.
First time I encountered him he only took me 3 tries. I found the pillar stance was helpful too as you can charge the heavy when he does his projectiles and they all fly underneath you, as do most of his moves. I also found that using the form of Guangzhi and poisoning him with Guangmou also worked well.
5 days.... this guy took me 5 days to beat. And honestly after this I could beat the rest of the bosses in chaoter 1 fairly easily.... the guide works people.
I put just about all my sparks onto the light attacks. The rest in health and stamina. This enabled the light attacks to do a lot more damage than before. It helped IMMENSELY along with dodging (sometimes towards him).
I was level 27 or 28 when I beat this boss. This is how I beat it. Charge heavy in the beginning with 3 focus points instead of dodging. It will take huge chunk of the health. Then do wandering wight. Then use immobilise spell and couple light hits. Then use transformation and spam triangle. By this point the health should be down more than half or 3/4. For the rest of phase 1 figure out timing to dodge and land couple hits every time. Only use 1 immobilise in phase 1. Leave the rest 3 immobilise for phase 2. Phase 2 is more predictable just maintain distance and dodge and land 2 or 3 hits. Use 3 immobilise spells every time they are active. When the health is 3/4 down use transformation and finish the guy.
I depleted this guys 2nd phase of health below half and when I tried to freeze him I couldn’t because I didn’t have enough mana. The only reason I want to continue playing is because I spent 60 dollars on it. I totally get that the more challenging a game is the more entertaining and fulfilling it can be but damn now I have to worry about my spells not even working because of mana.. I think it’s safe to say that some games are just not meant for everyone. Gameplay is so stagnant nowadays that we have to just make games hard as hell for them to have any relevance.
It’s so good to see everyone had different approaches to beat this boss! I’m not good at close-up fight so I keep the distance and maxed up my immobilization, fire transformation and the big-head guy! As long as the timing is right (and for the second phase, I like to corner him), it took just two minutes to finish!
The one thing i hate about this boss is that you can't hit him with your final blow even when he is frozen. Its easier to pull off on his 2nd phase but his ranged attack seems so much harder to dodge.
If you beat the miniboss that gives you the red tides transformation, it will do a lot of damage, plus it's like a free health bar it's right in the same area as the wandering wight. I highly recommend it. Just look around that area I missed it when I 1st went through
I was so excited when I managed to kill him on the first shot and then… Phase 2 happened. Been stuck ever since, I tried at least 15 times. lol I can’t do the perfect dodge when I need it the most. And somehow I seem to get worse every time I try again. 😂
Died so many times, but I found another way. Using smash stance, run around while charging heavy attack to lvl 3 & avoiding his attacks. Time it well and it does alot of damage, I hit him with a couple of lvl3 heavy attacks and phase one was done without needing to heal. When second transformation comes you can do a similar run to avoid & lvl3 heavy attack, while using the other spells to get more hits in. Using immobilize a couple times will be your best bet
I found out that the pillar stance works great against his thrust attack. If you have 2 focus charges, activating the pillar stance will shoot you up straight out of harms way. Then you can hammer tf out of him with the counter
I skipped the wandering wight and killed the big wolf boss in a couple attempts since it was easier than the wight. I proceeded with the story until I reached this boss and decided to go back to kill the wight before moving on to another boss. Killed the wight in a couple attempts and came back feeling great. Made it past the first phase in my first attempt and have been stuck ever since and seemingly getting progressively worse.
I put zero points into the immobilize spell. I went down the stamina tree to get the talent that doesn't I terupt your light attack combo when dodging. Immobilized him right out the gate. Saved my transformation for the second phase . Best him on the third try.
@@edwardgates8843i preordered the deluxe edition and just assumed I got the gourd because it’s the deluxe edition. I didn’t know it was because I preordered. I actually think on the deluxe edition it says the gourd is included. It’s so good for your first playthrough
This boss is making me not want to play the game anymore! such an unfair spike in difficulty so early in the game, if you already bought and used the potions , you're screwed
Trust me this boss is not as hard compared to later ones like Tiger Vanguard, Wind Sage, etc. I recommend you just farm Snake Trails until you get lvl 50 if ur having hard time
I’ve beaten god of war on GMGOW difficulty. And here I am struggling with this prick. Hate that you’re unable to block and parry attacks, and unable to quick dodge just before performing an attack
So a different strategy in case anyone is still struggling with the Whiteclad Noble: Stay close to him, and definitely stay tight on those dodges. I feel like a lot of his attacks leave him open if you stay close and DODGE when needed. Oh man. If anyone watched DBZ Abridged, remember when Piccolo was training Gohan? What was the one issue Gohan was having?
If you struggle mastering dodging, the pillar stance is an excellent way to do it. When you go in the stance, he will register it as an opening and he will come at you at full force. All you need to do is let him charge because he won't hit you. Then launch your move from above and get a combo in. Run away to the point you're at a safe distance, then just repeat the same.
For anyone struggling Time Patience DON'T GET GREEDY. 100% you'll get there sooner than you think. Phase 1, take your time. and don't get greedy with your opportunities when attacking. 2nd phase is a lot easier with full mana.
@@dink72115maybe a bit hyperbolic. I’m a very casual souls player and while this dude is kicking my ass, I have certainly felt far more hopeless in sekiro and ER. If you beat the miniboss that gives you the red tides transformation, it will do a lot of damage, plus it's like a free health bar it's right in the same area as the wandering wight. I highly recommend it. Just look around that area I missed it when I 1st went through
Awesome video and tips on how to defeat this boss.. was stuck on his 2nd transformation for a long time! Thanks, have subscribed.
This is very helpful I tried to fight him at first when I was a low level. Then I grinded and came back and beat him like a piece of cake.
Sick 3 Dodge by the way
his combos are almost endless lol, i always get caught off guard just when i thought he finished it, took me some 5 tries to beat this dude
In short: grind to 17 and equip everything and take medicine. There is no cheese for him.
I was so excited when I managed to kill him on the first shot and then… Phase 2 happened. Been stuck ever since, I tried at least 15 times. lol I can’t do the perfect dodge when I need it the most. And somehow I seem to get worse every time I try again. 😂
I find my flow but that DAMN spear throw fucks me up every time especially when he spams it for shits and giggles lmao
Just change your staff stance to pillar so you can avoid some of his attacks I beat him once I changed to that
Ive been trying to defeat him all day with no luck im going to try this tomorrow 😭
Made it past the first phase in my first attempt and have been stuck ever since and seemingly getting progressively worse.
beat it immediately after watching your vid, great! seems like the sparks you used are better suited than the pillar stance i used.
I put zero points into the immobilize spell. I went down the stamina tree to get the talent that doesn't I terupt your light attack combo when dodging. Immobilized him right out the gate. Saved my transformation for the second phase . Best him on the third try.
Reminds me on Dark Souls 3 with that skill check on the opening level lol!
wait what preordering gives you a better flask what is this bullshit?!
I think it’s the deluxe edition it was $10 more. Now I kinda wish I would’ve bought it
No it's just pre ordering it..I got deluxe & just gives a armor set that increases will count per monster kill
@@edwardgates8843i preordered the deluxe edition and just assumed I got the gourd because it’s the deluxe edition. I didn’t know it was because I preordered. I actually think on the deluxe edition it says the gourd is included. It’s so good for your first playthrough
Thank you. I managed to defeat him on the first attempt.
Good job 🙌🏽😉
This boss is making me not want to play the game anymore! such an unfair spike in difficulty so early in the game, if you already bought and used the potions , you're screwed
Trust me this boss is not as hard compared to later ones like Tiger Vanguard, Wind Sage, etc.
I recommend you just farm Snake Trails until you get lvl 50 if ur having hard time
@@Shiro_SoraI've been farming for about a week I'm at level 45 but that's still not good enough I'll probably have to be at least 60-70
I’ve beaten god of war on GMGOW difficulty. And here I am struggling with this prick. Hate that you’re unable to block and parry attacks, and unable to quick dodge just before performing an attack
Have you played ER?
I want to enjoy this game but havent been able to beat this boss. I want to enjoy this game but to get stuck so early in the game is frustrating.
Any updates, Did you beat the boss?
@godfather5420 not yet. I've been going back to earlier enemies to rank up. Hopefully that helps...
he escapes the combo finisher most of the times.
Best and most actually legit guide I've come across for this boss. Can't believe you beat him so cleanly and WITHOUT red tides!
This scene fought in the water is super beautiful!!
Not gonna lie,it took me about 20 attempts to beat this guy
that boss felt so out of place, he should of been garuding the relic for chapter 1
If you struggle mastering dodging, the pillar stance is an excellent way to do it. When you go in the stance, he will register it as an opening and he will come at you at full force. All you need to do is let him charge because he won't hit you. Then launch your move from above and get a combo in. Run away to the point you're at a safe distance, then just repeat the same.
smash stance was way easier, combos do more dmg somehow
Thanks my brother. I'm going to try this way. I've been getting my ass wore out.
For anyone struggling
Time
Patience
DON'T GET GREEDY.
100% you'll get there sooner than you think.
Phase 1, take your time. and don't get greedy with your opportunities when attacking.
2nd phase is a lot easier with full mana.
I cant seem to figure out the right time to dodge.. he gets my ass almost every time 💀
Loved the video. Thank you!!
👽🖤
This dude is the genichero of wukong
Tbh all I did was climb the stick he can’t attack you upwards and then you heavy hit him. Super easy. Took me a while to realise this though.
2nd phase is like the end of the world
Managed to beat this and now I'm stuck with rat sage mf in chapter 2
Hope u do more bosses!!!
"I recommend being at least lv17"
Me, lv17, constantly getting my @ss kicked: 💀
Mainly by phase 2. Phase 1 isn't so bad but idk, phase 2 wrecks me.
This boss is harder than anything ive faced in souls games
Seriously? I've never played Ny souls but I got this and I'm enjoying it.
@@dink72115maybe a bit hyperbolic. I’m a very casual souls player and while this dude is kicking my ass, I have certainly felt far more hopeless in sekiro and ER. If you’ve hesitated playing souls games due to difficulty but you’re breezing through BMW tho, I’d give them a chance. I think sekiro would be a good segue from BMW
legit, i wasn't stuck on any boss on Elden Ring as long as I am with this guy
I have tried bloodbourne, demons souls and now elder ring and i just dont understand any of it hahaha but i do wanna play it
I think it's less about the boss difficulty but the difference in combat compared to a Fromsoft game.
You can jump and attack and the guy doesn't respond to it. This helps a lot to get some heavy attack charges :)
Appreciate the tutorial. I finally beat him after using your tips!
keep your distance from him, wait for his attacks, dodge, and light attack him, transform and immobilise while you can, keep doing this don't rush and you'll best this mf.
First attempt beat him first phase with almost using all the gourds, and surprised that he has phase two
about 8 or 9 times later finally beat him up without even using transformation, just using perfect dodge and pillar stance
Idk how but i got him while playing on Steamdeck with 40ish fps and AT WORK LMAO
I think he's too tired to kill you 8 times but you are still alive.
I'm level 24, have the Guanzhi and Big Head Blue Baby, have upgraded Arm and Gourd and 4 hours in, I can NOT beat this dude. I'm gonna get a refund. Game Over for me.
I think the To do thing here is to use your Abilities as soon as possible. So they can recharge for his second phase. I tried more than 50 times and beat him yesterday with lvl32. I almost quit on this mofo AHAHHAHAHAHA
Bro that is extreme perseverance kudos
My good god i spend all day trying to beat this pos and i manage to defeat him by pure luck after the 20x time smh. Whats hilarious is i ended up not having that much trouble with the last 3 bosses in this chapter. Just this dude took me forever to progress the level. On to chapter 2...
Great guide bro very helpful thanks!😮😊
Thank you sm🙏🙏🙏
bro this boss took me like 2 hours😭 definitely the 2nd hardest boss so far after the wandering wight
Just wait until you get to cyan loong💀
Was happy when I beat him at the 5th attempt , the shocked when surprised by 2nd phase still on my 20 th try
this build helped me my first try, thanks!!!
Good video man, u got a subscriber
Thank you, Nick 🙏🏽👽
This boss tested my patience
