I agree learning a dialect first is good because you can start communicating immediately. You can study MSA slowly little by little on the side in order to be able to read the news

It’s good to learn MSA as you can use as a blueprint for other dialects

MSA is very very difficult, the vast majority of native Arabic speakers will make small (and sometimes pretty big) grammatical errors and pronunciation mistakes when speaking and writing. Arab presidents frequently mispronounce stuff when they're delivering their speeches, for example. And you'd be really lucky to find someone who can actually converse in MSA. Best of luck to you, it's so rare to find foreigners speaking Arabic, keep it up :D

Thank you for your videos, I know they take a lot of time and effort to create! I too am just learning Arabic and am struggling with the MSA vs Egyptian dialect. When it's said that MSA is the written language, if you were to go to the bookstore in, say, Cairo, in the children's section (because as a new language learner, books for children are a fantastic starting resource), I would assume most of those books are going to be in the Egyption dialect because children haven't studied MSA yet. Correct? From what I'm hearing on this discussion, MSA is difficult due to strict rules, etc and so I am assuming you wouldn't find "simplified" MSA for children and rather MSA is going to be used mostly in books for adults?

Thanks for your comment! I don't know for sure, but that's a great question. most probably those books/a majority of them will also be in MSA. However, I believe more books are becoming available in the Egyptian dialect. Finding books written in a dialect is quite difficult and i believe almost all books are written in MSA except for a select few. Some publishing companies are also starting to make books in the Egyptian dialect tailored towards learners.

As an Arab, I think learning MSA will be very useful before picking up any dialect. But if you are lazy, just learn the dialect of your choice. In general, if you want to be understood by the majority of the people in the region, i advice people to learn the Egyptian or the Levantine dialect..... Sorry my English is so BAD because it's my third language. :)
