I have the 30" Flip loom, and I love it. I've used two 12-dent heddles at a time for weaving very fine hemp fabric, and I'm currently using it as a tapestry loom for a class. It is so versatile, and great for experimenting with handspun, since there is much less loom waste than with a floor loom. I also have a Schacht floor loom and a Schacht-Reeves spinning wheel, and all of it is such a pleasure to work with.

I started weaving about a year ago. I have a Cricket loom and 2 Flip looms. I love my looms and feel so lucky that I chose the Schacht looms because I didn’t know anything about looms when I bought my first one, a 20” Flip. I liked the simple lines of the Flip looms compared to the more ornate lines of other brands. You won’t regret it if you choose one if these looms! The craftsmanship of the Flip looms is outstanding and my 10” Cricket is so fun and portable. All of the accessories are nicely finished and high quality. Warning: It is a slippery slope and you will want more than one loom and accessories! I just wish I could have started my weaving journey much sooner in my life.

I started with a 15" Cricket, and within a year bought a 25" Flip with stand. I love them. I have taught friends to weave on the Cricket. I was raised in Colorado Springs, and I so miss Colorado. Currently, I am in Florida, and weaving is a big deal here. Hope to visit your factory one day. PS: I am a machine knitter of over 30 years, and having leftover yarn has been perfect to weave with.

Hi, I’m new to weaving, and would like to start out with a smaller loom. I like the needle type. Which loom would you suggest?

This doesn’t mention the warp capacity for the cricket. Stopped watching after that because that’s what I’m trying to figure out.

Thanks so much for your message! The capacity depends on what type of yarn you're using and the warp separator you're using. However, we recommend starting with about 4-5 yards maximum, and adjusting that number depending on those factors. Please feel free to reach out with questions and happy weaving!

The cricket looks wobbly on its stand....

It is actually quite sturdy and very reliable to weave on. The slight movement may come from how hard a weaver beats the weft 😊
