@flyhi2773 why is it that we have means tested benefits for all groups but not on this fuel payment? Surely that payment should have been used to improve housing stock and lower bills rather than give to pensioners who then give it to private companies. Billions have been spent on this policy for years whilst nothing tangible is done to address the fundamental issue - energy costs too much and we have a really poor housing stock vs other countries. The issues we have are decades of mismanagement.
During the campaign Starmer kept saying not raising tax on working people. That said, all the plans were drawn up from data the OBR had but that data has been shown to be incorrect due to the conservatives thus any plans will need to be reviewed and revised in light of the current financial climate.

If you have a bad case of explosive diarrhea (for 14 years), it's going to take a bit of time to air out isn't it. I find it crazy people are quick to analyse the clean up, whilst forgetting the cause.

Wasn't Rich Sunak offering tax cuts up until election eve, when he knew there was no cash and a twenty three billion pound hole. It takes two to tango, and they all seem to be conservative with the truth. And I am a pensioner who has just lost the fuel allowance, and not that happy. We can't fully judge them after six weeks, CAN WE?...
