Friendly reminder to be kind, welcoming and understanding to your technician as well! Building up that relationship is mutually beneficial; the technician will look more forward to future visits and you will be more at ease in discussing/raising issues with them. You don’t have to best friends with them, but going out of your way to make them welcome and valued goes a long way.

Thank you Robert! This is such a timely video for me. My piano tech from River Forest, IL is coming to remove the action in my M&H Double A from 1919. He will do a regulation, but I will make a wishlist of things to address. Thanks again!

This is valuable stuff. I am looking at refurbishing a family keepsake that is probably not worth the money it would take to restore it to like-new playable condition. How would I go about contacting a competent tuner/technician?

I trust my tech, Mr. G. Kn... because I believe he is an expert. He will not do anything to damage my piano. Rather, he is proactive with suggestions i.e. he repaired the cracked ivories that I didn't realize was fixable.

      I believe you meant, “… suggestions, e.g., he repaired…”.
