- This is the Episode 3 of #SelfCarService Series. In this Episode we try to clean the Air Mass Sensor or Mass Air Sensor or also known as MAF Sensor using the very popular CRC Mass Air Flow Cleaner.
During the course of my journey I also discovered how people often clean the sensor using the cheap throttle body cleaner. That product is designed to clean throttle body and not the Sensor.
Till now, I have worked on the Air Stream. After this we will work on the Fuel stream, but before that we will work on the Engine Friction first. Also we will do the exhaust stream cleaning at a later part.
I am trying to service my car myself, step by step.

Your explanation about MAF cleaning sensor is excellent and very technical and detail sir. Very useful for beginners who are car enthusiast. Have Verna diesel 16 years old where MAF sensor till date not opened/cleaned and runs like a rocket. Will try cleaning sensor once as depicted in video.
Explaining the concept is what matters the most. U r doing a great job sir. Pls carry out diesel purge from liquimoly & make a video of it kindly. Thanku.

@@pulkitkumara sir u r right. Have watched them already. U poured them straight away into fuel tank which is ok when level is too low. But would like to see u doing by bypassing fuel filter.
Thanx for sharing, but would like to add that from other videos on cleaning MAS sensor , once cleaned, it has to be dried under normal conditions (ambient temperature air). Only after it has fully dried , then only reattach it

My magna elite model 2016 model diesel engine is having RpM fluctuations problem at idle starting problem and also some times engine get stopped on idle running

Hi Pulkit, Liquimoly's MAF Sensor cleaner is cheaper than this, any reason CRC is better, since i could see you did not detach the sensor socket coupler from the wire an cleaned it then and there. Did you also remove the -ve battery terminal before performing this job. Also how much time did you give to dry before reconnecting back.
Hi Navmeet, LM wasn’t available then. It went out of stock and CRC is much better brand in this category. I didn’t unplug negative as it wasn’t needed. I detached sensor later on. It dried instantly

Hi Pulkit, This CRC cleaner is only available at 4600 online, Can i use Liqui Moly cleaner instead ? That one is found for much cheaper @ 2100 which is half the price
I haven’t used LM. Can’t say. But CRC i have and it’s nice. I am sure even LM would be good why not.
My elite i20 asta diesel 2015 has clocked 125000km , everything seems okay ,only noise level has increased, what should I do or change to make it smooth.

Pulkit Sir, i need your help
My dzire diesel driven 3Lac+ is emitting black smoke .
I tried cleaning EGR,REPLACING AIR FILTER,using diesel additive as per you, and turbo is ok as engine is not consuming mobil.
Pickup is good but the problem is black smoke and mileage.
What to do ?please suggest.

The mechanic cleaned the sensor with some cleaner I'm not sure which but didn't see any change and he is suggesting to replace the sensor with a new one is it possible that the sensor has gone bad and can not be repaired as it's an expensive part. Pls reply asap ...

you must unplug it before cleaning!!!!! if you keep plugged in you risk a short and damaging the sensor which cost $100 !!!!
That is a good idea. But there is a double cut off which disconnects entire circuit in this engine. Please do subscribe if possible

@@sachinyadav-zl7ub sachin sir actually yes but no for it's consequences. Reason being WD 40 is basically a water dispenser. To make that happen it has to stick to the substance for a long time. Did u ever observe this????? When WD40 is applied on any material if not wiped off immediately it stays on for months (yes it's trues), which if left exposed also attracts dust around over a period of time. And when applied to a MAF sensor that too in an airflow u can imagine what happens to that sensor within days of driving 😀. Complete dust around MAF sensor & ulta kaam hogayega.
CRC too does the same job but it evaporates in a matter of minutes & doesn't attract dust particles around. WD 40 is a powerful solvent. Hence we can't take risks with it
