One of the best episodes in DB history. Goku and Krillin’s fight is peak anime choreography and Roshi’s philosophy was genuinely well written. It blows my mind people think Dragon Ball “has no story or character development”
This episode is why I love OG Dragonball so much. The choreography, the wisdom, the music, the build ups before fights, sunset setting and ofc the talented acting. Also no energy beams, just straight martial arts.
I know how amazing this fight was but can we talk about the incredible words of wisdom from Master Roshi? This goes beyond the anime itself and truly can reach the hearts of many who drown themselves in their pride and blind themselves to the value in humility. As a Christian these lines from Master Roshi hit close to home and relate so much to what Jesus himself preached as well. Amazing stuff. Dragon ball will always be a gem.
I LOVE this fight, its one of the best in any DB series. It really makes you see Krillin's death on Namek differently, and helps you feel Goku's anguish over thinking he'd never see him again. They were vastly different in power by then but DBZ doesn't show much of Krillin and Goku's friendship. After witnessing this and all their history it makes you feel it so much more.
4:46 I wish they included this memory in the flashback when Frieza killed Krillin and this memory will make Goku transform into Super Saiyan for the first time.
How sick would have been if roshi would of entered the tournament of power as Jacki Chun instead and goku continued believing that they weren't the same person
Not really that sick if you consider that the symbolism here is to indicate that Jackie Chun is no longer needed because Goku doesnt need his master or rather Roshi/JC to be the thing keeping him forward. He needed a challenge to hold him back from being a champion and to make him a great martial artist. But now Jackie Chun is no longer needed since he has many challengers that isnt him and he has now already dedicated himself to martial arts.

Most characters have psychic abilities can read minds see the future or past ect. Just one thing that gets overlooked rewritten or censored in this English dub due to religious reasons.
