Getting a second hand Stovax Huntington 30, which was initially purchased in May 2023. So it's just over a year old. Is there anything people should look out for when buying and more importantly installing second hand stoves ? With the increasing cost of living more second hand stoves are being purchased from independent sellers and facebook marketplace .. Would love you view and advice on this issue ... I have mine with papers, installation certs and receipt from point of purchase.... Easgerly wait for your response and advice Gabriel ! ❤
That’ll work great. Often there are things to check with Cast Iron stoves, but this one’s primarily made from steel so it is a fairly safe buy. You could make sure that bricks, ropes and the grate are all intact and good working order, but otherwise you should be safe as houses. Given its age, it’s only just run in anyway!
Having had a Stovax previously I always felt from a technical point it was rather unwelming. Having changed to a more functional in my view more sophisticated product my suspicions were justified. Now 1 test over a decade is not a scientific conclusion, but I will be really interested to see how this new version burns, as that is for many a given priority over how it looks. The latch looks clunky (our last Stovax one quickly wore, seemed soft metal, the replacement part cost a fortune and local blacksmith couldn't make one) and the handle weird, but others may like it. Comments from folks who have one would be interesting. Certainly the brand has had mixed reviews in the past, so hoping that like all stoves you test it meets a decent standard.
This is useful to know. I’ve been using a couple Stovax’s and it’s been good fun. This one is a bit more aesthetically focused, but I quite like the traditional, cast look.
I’m sorry for what you’ve been through people of any religion or colour can be aggressive and cruel. Equally people who are not religious at all can be kind, religion does not change everyone for the good , some people just are that way and some have to learn to be kind.
