This is my favorite episode I've seen so far. Great characters and history. Also as a native Brooklynite who grew up eating pizza I recognized and have eaten at most of these pizzerias or ones like them. I'm lactose intolerant now and watching my weight so I don't eat pizza much but I really enjoy making it and the occasional fresh slice. I like to visit a great pizzeria once a year and stuff myself and feel sick afterward! My favorites are of the old original Lombardi's lineage, in particular Juliana's which is the same pizzeria under the Brooklyn Bridge that opened as Patsy's, when that brand was sold to become a chain they became Grimaldi's, when that brand was sold to become a chain they became Juliana's. Located in the original location halfway down the block from the big corner Grimaldi's seen in the video. They were my favorite growing up and remain so. Their pepperoni is what I strive for. So I loved this episode. I'm not as in touch with the newer pizzerias as I was when I was a kid and made pizza pilgrimages out to the best NYC pizzerias. Now that I've started making great pizza at home I'm going to have to start visiting great pizzerias again.

Mark R If you ever get the chance to eat New York pizza then you better savor every last bite because it is so fucking good. I've had a lot of different kinds of food in my life but I would have to say that a slice of New York pizza stands at the top as king.
Gotta get that Guisepinas pizza man, some weird small dark light pizzeria in Brooklyn, I live 15 min from it and though its expensive, is super super light, and tastes phenomenal
The secret of a good pizza it is the dough and the quality of the ingredients overall...and then all styles of pizza can offer something that it is unique.
So loved this. I lived in New York in the late 90s for just over a year. John's and Joe's were musts. As was Lombardi's. Went to Coney Island many times, and I think Tonnino's and Joe's in the West Village had the crunchiest crusts. All of the pizza joints featured here are truly outstanding. There are over a dozen so-called pizza shops within a 10 mile radius of my home and not one offers a pizza as authentic and mouth-watering as the pizzas shown in this video.
Business idea?
Be the first authentic pizza place!
what "authentic"?this garbage piece of shit counterfeit pizza??americans have no fuckin idea how to make pizza and they never will.the only REAL pizza is the pizza we make here in Napoli...not this american crap made by fake italians who cant even pronounce their last names correctly .you need mozzarella di buffala CAMPANA (D.O.P),real extra virgin olive oil, sauce made from a particular type of tomatoes,00 flour ,have to let the dough rise for 30 to 40+ hours.and you need to know how to spin the dough correctly...plus other shit i wont disclose because you americans dont deserve to eat our fuckin food.go flip a hamburger
Frankie B lol you’re so E P I C dude
@@ciociaroirrequiete2927 The English are said to have invented football yet they're obviously not the best at it. Regardless it was ITALIAN IMMIGRANTS who invented American pizza.
My accent has been lost when I moved out of NYC at 12. But my appetite has not been lost for the slices of pizza 🍕
Luigi's pizza looked the best. That crust. Omg
Yeah looks awesome for sure
I live up the block and can assure you, it's amazing.
I visited a friend a while back and he took me to Luigi's. Everyone was super friendly and I got a fresh mozzarella slice, best pizza I've ever had. Four years later, I haven't found anything that good. I still dream about that slice, man. Makes me sad to live on the west coast.
All of a sudden I’m craving a slice of pizza...
Infinite Athletics C’mon man you know your craving more than a single slice 😏
18:19 That menu brings me back to the late 90s. Don't see that much anymore. It's all digital menus on 4k TVs.
Im going to get pizza now
+M Chan YO LEMME GET A SLICE
Rod We still have a lot of pizzarias on Long Island with that 90s menu.
Fucking every place is a "quintessential New York Slice" lmao
yes... because each place is different.
quintessential doenst mean that one is better than another. quintessential has to do with representing a certain style... in this case NYC style pizza.
and the style is bread with tomato sauce and cheese, thats pretty well defined
Hank Hill The moment I read your comment I accidentally skipped to him saying that
lel
I'm curious how places like Domino's even have business over there.
I feel so blessed to have grown up in NYC and experienced most of these places first hand. Pizza here hits different. It’s not just a delicious slice, it’s a vibe and if you grew up around it, it gets very nostalgic.
As a Southerner I was always told that New Yorkers were mean as heck. And their accents scared me. I first met a real one in my early early 30s. I been in love with them every since. They are the sweetest people and make the best most loyal friends in the world.
08:09 she’s so old school and sweet, she even asked the customers to sing happy birthday lol
So sweet right. I love people like her.
I would love to travel from Norway to New York one day, just for the pizza alone.
MrKowa I have been there, but i would like to try the New York style one day.
Herkules as a New Yorker I would say it is well worth it, a good slice after a long day is the best thing in the world.
Få gang!
Herkules Is it worth getting robbed or shot for, stay home.
I'm from London, went to new york and got a pizza and it blew my mind! Its nothing like anything you will taste.
I've watched alot of these munchies series where they talk about other foods......reason why I always come back to Frank is cause he sees no reason to swear or be vulgar....and his respect(nevermind the love) just the respect alone....makes him one if the greatest....thank you frank
this makes me wanna take a vacation to new york just for pizzas alone .
Totally worth it. I know it coz I did it. Not just New York tho. We did the entire east coast. It took us 20 days maybe, I dont remember. Personally my favorite was the chicago deep. But New York slice didn't come far behind.
People come here for reasons other than pizza?
Iss Nick Bih history?

Skip New York and head to New Haven for the best Apizza on earth.
Homie at Luigi’s is incredible. I got chills listening to him talk about pizzas. Made over a million pies, but “it’s like I never made a single one I love it so much”.
Frank and Mark are the best on this show. Love their energy. Just seem like really cool, down to earth guys.
This just reminds me of better simpler times pre covid. Miss the vibrancy Of people doing what they love with people they love.
People will do this again. Trust me!
Luigi's is the truth! Used to live right around the corner for 5 year. Gio and family are the best and are always so welcoming and kind to not just me but everybody that walks through the doors. Much love
Anyone else love the classic Italian New York accent?
Yup
Yes!!!
not quite
Hey, Ahm from Noo Yawk n I doan have no friggin' aksen. Yoo have duh aksen.
Its annoying 😂
I eat pizza 6 days a week for over 28 years, so watching all those pizzas was mouth watering. If I ever get chance to go over to a New York pizzeria I’d be in heaven for sure
John Yeomans that doesn’t sound healthy at all...
G O D’s 2nd Account but literally every New Yorker loves that type of life style. I don’t know how they do it, but they do. Lol

I always love this episode , it really shows how humble and greatful Frank and mark are even though they've accomplished so much in life
It’s great to see and learn the history of where pizza came from, and the family that made it all happen.
God, if I lived in New York, I swear I’d have like three slices of pizza a day.
Trust me, as a New Yorker, that’s so fucking little.
I live in Brooklyn. I swear I'll jump off the bus to grab a slice

I'm a fucking idiot, when I visited New York I didn't have a single slice of pizza anywhere.
49th it's either the pizza or hotdog, a New York thing.
Did you at least have a convo with a street rat?
49th I did and it was overrated. I've had great pizza all over the u.s.. Its not exclusive to ny.
49th that's true
49th I had pizzs in NY ... it was the worst.... and they were so proud of it.
Iconic slice places.. some iconic whole pie only.. Frank and Mark are great together and a wealth of info
Dropped everything I was doing when I saw the notification. Love it ❤
This is my favorite episode I've seen so far.
"he had a mule, he was somebody" i love thatsentence all the mediterranean people can relate to that for the old days to now (eve though it is less now)
this video radiates such fucking raw positive new york energy and i love it
If I was a rich man I would be on a plane to NYC as I type this comment
The only reason shit is so expensive in NY is because of, all the mob taxes. One of the benefits of unvetted mass immigration
TheGoldenHorncall sucks for you. I live 20 minutes from nyc. Hehe
Do it. Go. I did in 2008. So worth it.
Hell with that, I would have one made for me right there.
You are millionaire. I'll never meet you so,go and enjoy those pizzas brother.
This made me so fucking hungry and I do not live in NY, maybe someday I could travel just to eat pizzas
It's fucking amazing.

Kidknapped white sauce peppers onions spinach and feta omg mouth watering now
This is by far the best show that has been on Munchies.
Im home from college and watching this with a slice and a beer is reminding me of why I love this city so much, and how it’ll always be my home

funny story...
He had a knife fight with a low-level mafia goon a few years back who was actually Mark's childhood friend in Carroll Gardens, few years ago....
Lol, I could say the same for the first and the last guy
Nah he’s way too good looking. He’s more of that clean law abiding guy that was heavily associated with mob but wasn’t officially in the mob
Awwww, I love that last guy, he's so happy and genuine 😊
The secret of a good pizza it is the dough and the quality of the ingredients overall...and then all styles of pizza can offer something that it is unique.

Been to Luigi's a couple of times. Great pizza.
If I had to pick one I'd go with Joe's.
I was hoping Frank would get lit like the last episode.
