    1. It would be only fair that it is hard for Europeans to enter Algeria, in the exact same way it is hard for Algerians to enter Europe.
    2. You shouldn't expect a lot to see if you're visiting Béchar, a fairly isolated mid-sized town in the West of the Sahara. You should have visited historical towns and major cities, located more in the Eastern part of the country (Constantine, Timgad, Djemila, Béjaïa, Annaba..etc).
    3. Algerians are relaxed, the country is not. It's the biggest country in Africa with borders with 7 unstable countries. Since we're not getting help from the West and we're actually dealing with the mess they created, "over-security" is the only way to go.
    4. Algeria is a huge and a multicultural country, people in Béchar wouldn't react the same way to foreigners as people in major northern cities, or mountain villages in Kabylie.
    5. Algeria would be more prepared to tourists if it had more tourists :)
    6. You should comeback and visit more regions and cities, and you should contact algerians when you decide to plan it, this way you'll get the most of it :) :) :)

      Hey sup! I’m planning to create a travel video in Algeria. Is it a bad idea flailing a camera in the street filming buildings, architectures, etc? Or people in general (of course with their permission) or do I need a permit for that from the police? Also, is drone allowed in the country? Just trying to research info before I travel to Algeria this year. Thanks.

      Came here to reply and you’ve pretty much hit most of the topics I wanted to address. As an Algerian who has been to Morocco and Algeria, the person who did the video is spot on for the most part. I don’t agree with him about “more things to see” in Morocco and as far as tourism goes, Algeria simply lacks the infrastructure to host tourism. We are selective about who comes to visit for good reason.

    Thank you for you feedback and welcome in algeria !
    About the cafes. there is a thing to know, especially when you are a woman.
    The cafe thing is a very masculine concept here. in big cities you can see sometimes mixts cafes where you can have a drink or an icecream but the majority of it are just for men.
    And even in the rrstaurants, you have 2 rooms. one (generally at the ground) with man only and the other one (generally at the first floor) with "families".
    If you enter a restaurant with a group of men and women, you will go in the "familial" corner. if you are onlu men, you will generally go in the men corner.
    an advice for women. if you have to enter a cafe. be sure that there is other women inside. if you see only men, dont go.

      @adilben5354 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Amsedrar Aqvayli i agree with you bro. Your argument is so valid. It is absolutely fair that Algerians need a visa to Europe. And Europeans should not need a visa to Algeria for the following reasons: 1- the thousands of Algerians who cross the Mediterranean in clandestine immigration to Europe many of whom drown in the sea. 2- your economy is weak and incomparable to European economy. 3- Algerian unemployment is very high. 4- salaries in Algeria are very low.
      Build a strong economy where unemployment is low and salaries are high and guaranteed you won’t need a visa to Europe because they’ll know you won’t be a clandestine in their countries. For example: Emiratis needed visas to Europe 20 years ago but they don’t anymore.

    I understand that it's easier for Europeans to enter to Morocco compared to Algeria. But the problem here is diplomatic, We Algerians (and Moroccans) find it very difficult to enter any European country, so I think it's kind of normal. And trust me the exact same procedures you mentioned (Bank statement, insurance...) to enter Algeria are demanded to enter any European country.

    I am from Algeria, and I tell you that you are very right at the point that entering Algeria is difficult, I do not know why the government does this,
    As for the filming of the government offices, this is true. You should not take pictures of these places, because this is about global politics. Only months ago, the police arrested people who were filming, and after the investigation they found that they were spies for the Mossad.
    You are wrong, women are welcome, only in the north is better than the south, in the south the people are conservative, and about your story if the people who told you about this story are French, do not believe them, because the Algerians do not welcome all the French, not just the women.
    About the calm in the cities, this depends on this city, there are quiet cities and there is no, such as northwestern Algeria, quiet city
    About having services such as hotels, museums etc, I am sure that Morocco is even better and I have not visited Morocco. Morocco is a tourist country, Algeria has only 16 years in tourism.
    Are you still here ? , And have you visited the cities of the north?

      Unfortunately i'm not in Algeria anymore, but i visited more towns in the south: Saida, Mascara, Beshar, Taghit, and then Tlemcen, Sidi bel abbes, Beni saf, Oran and a few more. Thanks for your input :)

      The reason entering in algeria is difficult is because the government is afraid you go there just to get medical treatment. Healthcare is more or less free in Algeria. When I was young, I had my apendix removed and it didin't cost anything to my parents (I'm not born in Algeria).

      talking about taking pictures, it's not only about police offices or military structures. I'm Algerian and few months ago I saw a christian cemetery for the first time in Algiers (I think there are none in my hometown) I took a picture of it, (from the outside, didn't even go beyond the fence,) to show it to one of my foreign christian friends, I was curious about the little rooms (chapels?!) and wanted to know what were these for but in less than 5 minutes two policemen approached me and asked to see my phone then made me -politely- erase the photo saying that Algerian law doesn't allow such behaviour out of respect for sacred places. It was a shame but I kinda understand. The security system in Algeria is uptight, still the policemen are mostly friendly.

    Hello there, I hope you enjoyed your holiday in Algeria. I absolutely agree with your vision except the police everywhere and the entry procedure.
    1- I would like you to take it from a positive perspective because first of all to maintain peace and security don’t forget that algeria is targeted and threatened from so many forms of terrorists plus the conflict from neighbouring countries such as Libya and above that all Algeria came out of a civil war that lasted a decade from early 90’s to 00’s . So the experience dictates to never lower the guard. Whereas Morocco have never suffered from the mentioned problems.
    2- Algerian diplomacy has a principle
    Of Reciprocity, but still not 100%. For example for an Algerian to get a visa to Europe (schengen) he needs tons of paper work and money plus a long waiting time, so because of this standard Morocco is much easier as you said. I hope you consider what I said to better understand why . Peace

I accidentally took a picture of the police once and they made me delete it in front of them. I agree with the foreign issues (not being prepared) but to some extent I think in the bigger cities its a little better than some. Also Algerians understand French much better than English. Hello, I'm from Algeria and I've watched both video. I wanted to explain to you some misunderstanding that you had during your travels. First, Algeria deal with foreign country using a reciprocity policy (you go through the same procedures that an Algerian would go through to visit your country). Second, indeed Algeria is huge the culture and mentality differ from region to another you've been to Oran and Tlemcen and Sahara and you could clearly see the difference, the woman story in the Cafe is sad but true the people of the south believe that Cafe are only for men to smoke and chat whereas women could do that in Hamam (it's like Sauna) in the north is a different story women are more liberated and do whatever they want (we have a woman general, Minister and MPs too). Third, the police don't have the right to see what's in your camera the police officer violated your privacy and you could've charged him for it, the police already know where you are and they will keep an eye out for you until you leave the country for your own security however they'll leave you a personal space. Fourth, you should visit Constantine, Annaba, Ilizi, Algiers, Timgad (Batna) Tebessa, Guerdaia, jijel, Bejaia, Tipaza those cities contains most of Algerian Roman ruins history and the most beautiful natural places and views. Finally i hope you enjoyed Algeria and thank you for your review hopefully it'll help revive tourism here that our corrupted government had killed. God bless you

    Algeria has a heavy police presence because we have to... we witnessed a violent civil war so being heavily secured is always a good thing !! as for your comment about women you are absolutley wrong women in Algeria are respected and they actually don't get harrassed as much as Morrocco maybe because the areas you are in is very conservative (desert) but the other cities not an issue at all!! women walk on their own freely with a no specific dress code or whatsoever!! it's quite misleading to advise women not to go because they won't be safe!! I travelled with european female solo travellers and we have never encountered such things!!

    • @KeepExpanding
      @KeepExpanding  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +jiji309 I am advising out of my own experience and also of people I know that have worked in Algeria for years. No it's not only the desert, I have examples of stories like those in Oran and Algiers. Understand it is an opinion, I could as easily say you are wrong just because you have travelled with solo female travellers and it has not happened to you personaly, that is anecdotal evidence. I have several stories of western women that were treated very disrespectfully, stories that I havent heard of witnessed in Morocco. It's ridiculous to assume every Algerian treats foreign women with no respect, most that I have met don't. Fortunately nothing happened to your friends but that doesn't disprove my point in any shape or form. Algeria is not as advisable to women as Morocco, in my opinion. It doesn't mean women should not go there. It is a good advice for them to keep an open eye and be careful. You can take that as an advise or you can be offended and assume I am hating on Algeria, which is quite a childish opinion.

    • @jiji309
      @jiji309 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Keep Expanding No hun I am not hating, you are free to express your opinion and talk about your own experiences it's just the idea of western women being harrassed on the streets are far from the truth!! maybe you've faced few incidents but it rarely happens especially for a foreigner, because Algerians value women and take care of
      their guests and try their best to give a good impression to defeat the media stereotypes !! anyways I hope you enjoyed your time and sorry for the incident you guys faced and for the police constantly questionning as they can be a pain in the ass sometimes peace :)

And Algeria is overall safer and more genuine but definitely more conservative and protective. I'm Algerian so this might seem bias and rude but if Morocco didn't have tourism it wouldn't have anything. Right? It would be a ghost town. And Algeria needs to chill out I'm very familiar with that.

    I visited both countries as well , and here’s what I can say :
    1- Moroccans are waaaay more open , REALLY, I mean ofc not everyone , but the majority , especially in big cities like Marrakech , tangier , Rabat , especially Marrakech, you can wear whatever you want , do whatever you want , people are way more open .
    2 - Moroccan cities are more modern , they look better , the streets are nicer , buildings and the transportation is good compared to algeria, but not perfect tho
    3 - even for restaurants and pools and malls , Morocco has better ones & even night clubs in Marrakech are so great. So for a summer vocation, Morocco is the perfect destination.
    4- what I love about Algeria is the safety , even tho the people don’t make u feel safe but cops are everywhere and they’re more available to listen to you and help if u have a problem than in Morocco.
    What I didn’t like about Morocco is definitely the security, even if u got a problem police won’t give u so much time , and maybe will tell u to go and that they’ll figure it out , but don’t expect them to call back , if something was stolen from U for exemple.

    Morocco's economy relies a lot on tourism hence the simple entry no visa required entry . Moroccans however do need visas to enter Europe and many other countries . Unlike Algeria , Morocco ( and Tunisia )was only a French protectorate while Algeria was part and parcel of France , hence the very strong French influence . Morocco is in some ways more authentic in its culture and traditions due to being only a protectorate and also due to the old monarchy . Moroccan folk music is way richer and varied than the Algerian one . Classical Andalusian music in Algeria is however more developed , notably with the Malouf schools of Tlemcen and Constantine . The fact that Morocco was only a protectorate limited more French influence on the traditional society and architecture ,while Algeria is more like France in many aspects . The other reason tourism was not a big priority for Algeria is that Algeria had and still has vast wealth from fossil fuels and could manage very well without depending on tourism , unlike Morocco and Tunisia . The Algerian Sahara is an open sky museum with centuries old prehistoric rock paintings depicting the fauna and flora. when the Sahara was a tropical area . Centuries of Roman rule have left numerous well preserved Roman archeological sites , specially on the eastern side of the country . Algeria also has a 1200 kilometer long scenic mediterranean sea coast where barbary apes can be found , with unspoiled beaches ( no tourism ) . On another note Saint Augustine of Hippo ( Annaba ) was an Algerian Berber .

Please point out where in my comment there is any anti Algerian feelings . It it true our country has a very old and varied culture and history .as i wrote in my comment above . As a musician and musicologist i listen to all kinds of music from all over the world , both folk and classical . Due tot he particular geography of Morocco , its Berber folk music is very varied .. Please read my comments again :) As a said earlier as far as Malouf is concerned , both the Algerian schools ( Constantine and Tlemcen ) and Tunisian ( Rachidiya of Tunis ) schools are more elaborate than the Moroccan Malhoun. This is only my personal opinion .
      The French occupation influenced the country a lot in many way both good and bad . As far as I am concerned I see very little cultural difference between us and Morocco . The political systems are different but the people of both countries are very similar. We understand each other’s dialects very well . Politics should be left aside .
      If your feelings have been hurt I apologize . My comment above is only factual .

    I think it's very ignorant of tourists to go to a foreign country and expect the whole population to adapt to them and speak their language (or speak English in that case). In my opinion, they are the ones who should be prepared and at least have very basic knowledge of the local culture and languages. Algerians already speak 3/4 languages, not all of them speak english, which is also the case of people living in small cities and villages in Europe, including Portugal. :)
    Saying "there aren't much things to see in Algeria" is a very incorrect statement. As you already know, Algeria is not a very touristic country, therefore, not planning your trip and asking for advice beforehand and just "go with the flow" is not the best thing to do, because you're kind of missing the best of it.
    Both Algeria and Morocco are beautiful countries with unique types of adventures and cultural (history, food, languages, music....) features. Enjoy them both, no comparison needed ! Cheers ;)

      Sarah Bouguéroua he just did a review he didn't like it because the country is harder to visit,as a country why are you accepting tourists if you do not give an effort to treat them well,this also helps to create more negative perceptions about the Muslim world which is not open and closed at itself

    • @BouS-r5b
      @BouS-r5b 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should watch his other video about Algeria's advantages. You 'll see that he was more than well treated by the whole population. ;)
      What we call "a non-touristic" country, is a country where there are few infrastructures meant ONLY for tourists. It has nothing to do with the "muslim world". A lot of countries (muslim and non-muslim) have what we call "wild tourism". You go there, and you get directly involved with the local culture and community. There is no artificial touristic embellishement areas where tourists are directed while the people are starving few kilometers from there.
      Simple example, all algerian beaches are free. You can go across 1200 km of coast, and sit and swim wherever you want. Unlike in Morocco, where you can find a 5km beach, and 36 hotels, and each one of them trying to privitaze a certain surface for its client. Museoms are extremely cheap because they're meant for local people, before anyone else.
      Indeed, Algeria hasn't put much effort on its tourism strategy, but if you go back to the the history of Algeria in the last 50 years, you'll realize we have TONS of situations to recover from before getting back on our feet (mainly after the independance, analphabetism, building cities, terrorism, civil war...).
      So, it's understandable why tourism isn't a priority for the moment, since this country has bigger issues to deal with. =)

    • @rappertvass8695
      @rappertvass8695 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sarah Bouguéroua tourism is always a priority ,when you're a country which has significant historical areas and beautiful beaches not profiting from that is really stupid imo,you can feed and give a job to a good portion of the population with tourism,it's also good way for the state to increase its foreign currency reserves

    Hey I liked watching the see videos you did about Algeria vs marroco I am also Algerian and visited the two countries . I agree with everything you said unless the fact that there is not a lot to see... I think you had this opinion because you visited the south regions and it is true that the fact that Algeria isn't touristic makes it have less activities .... it is like you are there to just see the Sahara. .. but I think that the thing you missed in the south is the Hoggar and The tassili . There is a lot of historical engravings ... it is like there is one or two thing to see in a city but there is a lot of cities so that is what makes the country rich in places to visit while in marroco despite that it is smaller it has a lot of things to see in one place like in marrekesh... but I think you didn't see big cities like Algiers that has a lot of things to see for example there is : 1-maqam echahid and riad el feth 2- jardín d'essais which one the tenth most beautiful gardens in the world 3-sidi Fredj port 4-musee du bardeau 5- musée des beaux arts 6-la grande poste 7- notre dame d'Afrique 8- les sablettes 9- the casbah of algiers. .. there is also the ruins of tipaza in like less than 50 km away from Algiers. .. Same thing for Bejaia there is a lot of things to see in that town and the views are just wonderful here are some touristic places to see in bejaia : 1- Yemma gouraya which is a Spanish forteress 2- les eguades which has a nice view to the big blue + it is a protected area for monkeys 3- cap carbon which has the hight lighthouse in the world 4- pick des singes which has also a wonderful view to the Mediterranean sea 5- there is la brise de mer which is a festive place in front of sea visited by tourist mostly at night ... 6- la place guidon also is a place like a terrace that has a view to the bejaia's port anyway you can find pictures of them on the net 7- the casbah of bejaia 8- beautiful beaches like Taïs and Tighremt 9- la grotte merveilleuse in aokas 10- Derguina's waterfall 11-Akfadou's forest 12- the museum of the revolution in ighzer amouqran where the soummam conference took place in 20/08/1955 ... see there is also places that had a lot to see you just didn't see them, if you are still in Algeria I suggest you not to miss them and Also Tikejda in the mountains of Djurdjura with the wonderful lake Aguelmim. ...
    And another point not all Algerians cannot talk English it is true that most of the know French better because it is the first foreign language we learn at school but you just didn't talk to intelectual persons , like those that made university studies or something, I am on the secondary school and I am talking for languages fluently and I am a beginner on the 5th one which is Spanish. .. but I agree that most of Algerians don't talk English very well because as you said marroco is more touristic so they need to know other languages to stay in contact with tourists and it is a part of their work.... I encourage you to do a video of the places you visited ... thank you I hope you will reply 😀😀✋

    (Traduction français dessous)
    As someone who hasn't been to either country, I would have to say that most of these things are actually advantages (except the part about women's rights). When a place has a tourism-based economy, the true culture suffers. This has been true in my home city of New Orleans to the point where tourists think that our entire culture is getting blind drunk and pissing and vomiting on the streets, but that's not us, it's the tourists who do that. As far as the police go, I would be happy if the police in my city actually protected tourists (they get carjacked, robbed, and mugged on a weekly basis). From my experience, the police in western Europe couldn't care less if harm comes to tourists, they're too busy for that, especially in Paris. I honestly find that the less tourist-y parts of Louisiana are much more welcoming than New Orleans, but I digress. On another note, why go to museums when your country is a living, breathing one? While it's true that Morocco is much more "western", why would you want to visit the more western country? You're in North Africa! Hello?! Don't be a tourist, be a traveller. Don't just do the tourist things. Just like if you're in France, you don't just go to Paris. If you're in the maghreb, don't just go to Casablanca and Tangier and call it quits. (For the record I'm not saying not to visit Morocco or those cities) Get to know the country and get out from behind the camera for once! Also, they already speak French and Arabic, why should they have to speak English, too? All you need to know is bonjour, merci, au revoir, salam, shukran, and you'll have a much easier time, just make the effort! Another advantage to less tourism? Fewer Americans, and I say this as an American but our tourists are the absolute worst.
    Autant que quelqu'un qui n'a jamais été en Algérie ni au Maroc, je dirais que la plupart des choses que vous avez mentionné sont des bonnes choses, à part les droits de femmes. Quand un endroit n'a une économie touristique, c'est en fait la vrai culture qui souffre. C'est vrai dans ma ville natale de la Nouvelle-Orléans ce qui fait que les touristes croient que notre culture est de devenir sourd et de pisser dans les rues, mais c'est pas nous qui le fassions, c'est eux. Sur le sujet des policiers, même si je sais que les libertés civiles sont assez limités en Algérie, j'aimerais bien que les policiers protégeraient autant les touristes qui viennent ici. Ils se font volés les couilles chez nous. Et je sais par expérience que la même chose se passe aussi en Europe de l'ouest, surtout à Paris.
    En plus, pourquoi les gens voudraient-ils aller au musées quand le pays entier est une musée vivante? Oui, ça vient avec des vrais dangers et des vrais risques, mais soyez pas aveugle et tout ira bien. Si vous voulez aller à des pays occidentaux, allez-y. Mais c'est l'Afrique du nord ! Si vous l'aimez pas, n y allez pas! Si vous alliez en France, est-ce que vous alliez seulement à Paris? J'éspère que ce serait pas le cas. C'est pareil partout, si vous allez au Maghreb, il faut aller voir beaucoup plus que Casablanca et Tanger. (Mais je ne dis pas de ne pas voir ces villes, elles sont très belles) Essayer de connaître les pays, et laissez peut-être la caméra d'un jour sur deux. En plus les gens de là parlent déjà l'arabe et le français, pourquoi faut-il qu'ils parlent aussi l'anglais? Tout ce qu'il faut savoir sont des mots de politesse et ça passe beaucoup mieux. Vous n'avez qu'a faire l'effort. Un autre avantage du manque du tourisme c'est le manque des américains, et je dis ça autant qu'états-unien. Nos touristes sont les pires.

      You said that if you’re in north africa you have to visit a more representative country of that area. Well I tell you that Morocco is the more representative one. If you go to Algeria, you feel like you are in France, because of the 130 colonization. They’re cities looks french, while ours are more moroccans, because during all our history we’ve been like only for 45 years french, unless our neighbors who were under ottomans for more than 300 years and 130 under french. Two things could work in Algeria in terms of tourism: beaches and the sahara. As for the history and culture, Morocco is way more interesting, as it has its own culture not an ottoman or french one. But since Morocco has beaches (Mediterranean and atlantic), desert Morocco would be better to visti. As the tourist can find all the things in one country. But of course if a tourist wants a peaceful trip without tourist harassment, Algeria is better. But again even Morocco has places who not been reached bu tourists, especially in the north and the south. And by the way the most visited city in Morocco is Marrakech, neither Tangier nor Casablanca (in this one actually there’s not much visit, is just the industrial capital of Morocco, nothing more. There’s a lot to fix about Marrakech to make feel the tourist more safe, but I tell you that no place in the maghreb region has a city as particular as Marrakech and that’s one of the richness of Morocco.

    • @abdelhaksakher987

      @@rajaa9011 well, you are wrong. Algeria is more representative and we dont have only the north and the sahara. We have more amazing places to visit which they dont even exist in any other part of the world such as : Sifar (one of the wonders of the globe) its located in the south east of Algeria , its a whole city traced back to millions years ago , it contains wonderful caves where the earliest primitives lived. It also contains paintings which considered above the human kind. This is just a simple example of one of the wonders that morocco lucks.
      Further, the country is very rich and diverse , yes there are many french architecture, but it is very limited to some big cities in the north . The rest of the countries towns have their own finest architecture with an algerian seal.
      Algeria is more genuine, safe, and authentic. You can smell the real culture in the country. The country is conservative which makes it a good spot for tourism , there you could feel the cultural differences , and that what tourism is made for.

Yeah all the great dynasties that have ruled the whole maghreb from Morocco are freaking Mauritanian and algerian and Mongolian but have nothing to do whatsoever with the place they were founded on lol the usual algerian garbage. Dude the fact is you ask a Japanese or a Peruvian or any person on this planet about Morocco and Algeria ( and Mauritania lol) unless he/ she works in oil lol. The answer is always Morocco that is much more known to them, restaurants in their cities, interior design, movies, etc. Just accept to live with this fact, noone is going for nouadhibou or gherdaya to see the remnants of the almoravids or the almohads or the saadians, their palaces and their tombs. They do see them in Marrakech and Fez. You in jijel sorry djidjel lol. All you have to offer is a keyboard and a barking mouth lol.

      Vincent Productions whatever this dude says is his own personal opinion about Morocco or Algeria. Morocco like any other touristic country has its share of con artists. Morocco receives more than 12 million tourists every year and that creates a market for these type of scams although it stays to the minimum and you can get this in Brazil, Mexico, India, or even Europe

    Hello guy I really appreciated your videos by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of Morocco and Algeria but I have some reservation about Algeria by what you visited only 10% or 15% of the teritoire then I do not think you can judge that easily. For desert Taghit or Bechar it's just the gate of the desert, I think you miss the most fascinating and the most magical but see these places you must have the right contacts and wright people,To have an idea what it really is the Algeria I advice you to watch "Algerie vue du ciel" by yann arthus bertrand, and the, you will understand the true beauty of the landscape from north to south and from east to west , As far as conservatism is concerned, every city has its own specialty, but I grant it to you in mass tourism Morocco is far ahead. But you will always be welcome in Algeria, Salam bro

    You have to know that the overpresence of police officers is due to terrorism that used to be strong in Algeria. The only way to stop it was to do check points and barrages on the road. I'm Algerian but I was born and raised in Switzerland, and I remember when I was young and went to Algeria under the terrorism it was way worse. When entering the country,ALL of your luggage were searched, when you travelled by car, you were stopped for no reason and had to pay if you didn't want to be arrested. I like to think that Algeria has really gotten better at controlling and that the police has loosen down over the past years, which is positive in some aspects, but at the same time, shouldn't go too far.
    As a "foreign" woman, or at least a foreign mind, visiting Algeria might have sometimes be a little oppressing, when for example having to restrict myself clothing wise. But overall, as long as a woman isn't showing too much skin, and being over noticeable, she won't get too much shit. Also, about that cafe, it's just tradition you know, these kinds of cafes exist in a lot of countries such as Egypt or Turkey. It's just as when a woman walks in the man reserved part of a mosk. And trust me, if a man walked in a woman reserved coffee, or a hammam for example he would get assaulted ahha.
    I do agree on the fact that Algeria isn't prepared for tourists, but I don't see it as negative. As you said in your Video about Morocco, people are way more genuine towards foreigners, which is something I've rarely seen throughout my travels, and even if it makes the country more difficult to visit, I see it as a way to let our culture and beauty raw, instead of faking it for tourists.

      Keep Expanding you have to know also that there are some places where only women who can go there, and men can't go there ( just like a woman community) and this is absolutely not conservative towards the freedom of men nor of women. it's just culture! in Algeria they separate men and women in almost all places.

Having said that, one of the largest open museums in the world called Siffar is actually to be found in the South, in the heart of the Sahara region (closer to the border with Libya), more specifically within a canyon (the famous Hoggar) and where a very large site of pre-historic cave dwellings (full of amazing ancient drawings) is located.

    cafés that are not for women are only for men , there men smoke and do lot of things that are not good for a woman to be inside , it is a kind of respect for women to get into those places , there are cafés which are made for women and they are more comfortable for them , but if a woman wants to buy a coffee or a tea or anything from a 'men's café she can call the waiter out and order
    2.there is more police and melitary is much more related to traffic accidents , algeria has one of the worst statistics when it comes to road victims , check points are everywhere to control traffic law being well respected
    3. i agree with the fact that algeria is not prepared for tourists and algerians also complain about this , but , this does not mean that there is nothing to see , in contrary , a huge country like algeria has a lot to show but she shows it as it is , raw, original , without any sparkling fake decoration ,you can just explore the whole country and contact with people without any fear that you might be watching a fake reality
    4.melitary and police photographs or anything related to this issue ,i think it is a normal thing to be carefull , you know ,the country borders aren't that safe, there are revolutions and wars in mostly the whole region except few countries and algeria has a great broder to control terrorists and smugglers especially fuel and drugs related ones
    5.algerian people do not depend so much on restaurants and street food , we eat home made food most of the time and rewards ourselves with a fast food or a dinner on the beach from time to time ,, i know its is little uncomfortable for tourists ,but, instead you'll find everyone inviting you to his place to have a meal , do not hesitate and accept the invitation , it is a pleasure for someone to invite a tourist to his place , try real algerian food in houses because even if you find it in restaurants it would not be as good as in houses
    6. visas and enterance issues are difficult even in europe , if an algerian asks for a visa to spain ,france or any other country he faces same dificulties ,he may wait for long and in the ned he may not get the permission to go , we're not discussing illegal immigration issue but the algerian governent just treats back ,if an algerian cetizen got arrested in a european airport for hours and being suspected being a terrorist just because he has a beard or because his name was mohamed is not accepted ,this makes the algerian govrnment work to give algerian cetizens more respect abroad , of course you're not gonna be arrested in the airport or be treated badly depending on your race or relgion but put yourself in ma place ;! i wish you had a good journey !!come back again !!

    In Algeria a foreigner is more seen as a traveller rather than a cash machine. That being said, the tourist infrastructure in Morocco is way more developped. When you speak to Algerians they’re not willing to have mass tourism with all its problems. They want to keep their way of living and not have to adjust.

    Thanks for the vid and for the attitude, man... I understand the subjective part of it and I guess that some aspects of the "adventure" were pretty much disturbing... Nevertheless you should have planned your visit a little better : you didn't see the most interesting parts (plural) of the country and it seems that you're not really aware about the political context...
    15 to 20 years ago, the country was mostly unsafe for travel : the overwhelming police presence is explained by the bloody war against terrorism that took place at that time... And thank god, we won... The cops were mostly looking out for your safety, not trying to get you in a cell... From what I know too, most of them are curious about foreigners : you were kind of interesting to them... :)
    Attracting legions of tourists is not our goal anyway... That explains some of the visa issue, but the jest of it is that the algerian governement practices absolute reciprocity in diplomatic matters...
    Last thing : the land and its culture are conservative to a large extent, people there are unapologetic when it comes to their deepest beliefs and their way of life... Some parts are more relaxed than others, but its basically how life goes down or up there : take it or leave it... I have some french female friends that lived there for years, they say that algerian men are the loveliest bunch of macho teddy bears they ever knew...
    You're welcome anytime...
