I appreciate you taking the time to explain those terms. Some I've heard, some I haven't. It makes following your other videos easier to follow for me. Our SWAT team taught some basic entry techniques to our investigative unit because we did a boatload of search warrants. We often worked with our federal counterparts who used different techniques and terms which was problematic. Thank you again for the video!
The 45/90 is what I've been recently taught. Along with clearing and scanning. That is what they are teaching at FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) facilities. The instructors said they have adopted much of the tactics from US special operations/forces. This stuff has changed a lot, even in the last few years.
I'm just watching this because I'm a gamer and random general interest, you often hear terms thrown and you don't have a visual demonstration or enough context to know what is meant, some things have visual explanations or written ones but many are more niche or specific and there's not enough (or any) videos on it. This was a nice video and demonstration, learned a lot, thanks! Edit: I love the humor xD
thanks for covering this! Vocabulary is the make or break on a team. everyone has to say the same thing and MEAN the same thing or else someone is running the rabbit and the guy behind them is screwing the pooch.
Oh man, this is so good. I love how you're going over all the terms and what they mean. I learned a couple of new ones that will help me communicate what I mean and also understand others better when practicing with a team!
Would really like to understand how to handle closure arm doors better. Really interested to see how it affects the clearing of a room and what needs to be done differently
The automatic closing function can be defeated in a lot of ways, but it definitely changes some things. The most common methods are just wedging it open with a fireman's wedge, or a piece of wood on a J shaped hook that hangs on the hinge. Other than disabling the closure arm prior to the breach, that's usually what people use. The other methods to deal with the door closing are essentially just using speed to get two people in to the room before it closes (dynamic entry, etc). and have the 3rd and 4th man deal with the door, or have the breacher pin the door with his foot and hold it for the entry team.
Thank you guys for summarizing all these terms . It's helpful. Have you hear or use the word "high-low",it's like a two men co-working technique which one person kneels and the other person stands that we have two rifle from one same cover in the same time. We use this for like the L-shape hallway or someting similar.
Thanks for the video. Are there any special considerations for pocket doors or sliding doors? I know this is kind of longwinded, and I'm sorry for that. But this is a though that took all of 3 seconds to conjure and two minutes to write. Example. A true pocket door presents one huge issue if someone knows how to keep it from sliding. Can be as simple as a bolt on the origination side that passes through a hole in the room side door frame, through the door, and into a blind hole in the outer frame. At that point, you're better to try and defeat the door itself than try to pry it open because you'll be trying break the frame or cut the door in half with the bolt essentially. Also, if the pocket door recesses into the opposite frame from where it originates, it becomes much harder to pry back. You'd basically have to cut an X in it with a chainsaw or use explosive breaching. Sliding doors that are on a single top rail are easier to defeat, even if they are double latched at either end and secured to the wall, but still pose a fatal funnel issue.
Pocket doors and sliding doors are usually a pry solution if we are talking interior work. For glass sliding doors I have used a shotgun or just simply breaking and raking it out
@@oriontraininggroupllc2782Thank you for the response. I know this is creeping into the realm of tactics and 100% situationally dependent, but if you came upon a pocket door (or even a barricaded traditional door for that matter) that couldn't be "reasonably quick" to open, do you skip it and come back to it? Or do you force entry right then and there?
Is there a reason no color grade was applied to this log footage? Just a small quality thing that makes viewing so much better and takes such little time, I’m only curious! Good stuff here guys!
Yep we are about halfway done with one. There's a lot of material out there, I don't have any specific recommendations but would encourage you to read multiples and distill out the common threads
So does that mean a single hallway problem only has one door in a hall to the left or right side? Or multiple just to the left or right side? And a double hallway problem means there’s only 2 opposing doors whether it be closed or open? But a complex hall is also another name for two doors opposing each other? I’m confused on the halls So then what would you call a hall way with multiple doors opposing each other all the way down the hallway? Like an apartment building I’m so lost
Also, Orion. So that L shaped hallway you were discussing at the beginning of your hallway speech Does that mean it’s a T-shaped hallway way or an L-shaped hallway with near threat? Bc you said the shape the hallway actually makes is an L-shape
It will be for sale in print thru Amazon publishing and via PDF thru the Patreon (no membership required that's just what will host the sale point). Likely late 2024 maybe early 2025
Ok, but should a push door identifying itself as a pull door, be pushed at the risk to have the door mob spontaneously coming at you because you called that door by its dead name? I don't intend to over complicate things but I think it's a legit question these days....

I'm really hung up on closed vs open door. Is a doggy door considered open or closed if it is mechanical with a lock?
Wait. What’s a door again?

Thanks for the video ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍.
So I think I can speak for everyone when I say.. I think we understand “open” and “closed”…
But, what is a door? Can you define? Plz

I’m stuck on skin of the ship, what do you mean by this? Can you explain it in a simpler perspective?
Okay I’m hung up on the scanning point, so you call PODs and lim pins just scanning points? I’m confused.
Thank you.
Any intentions on making a CQB book, or recommendations on any already out there?
Thank you very much.
