@iiYonko It's not like he's wrong. And humans has made mistakes before and especially people who hunt animals tend to focus on their own gains rather than the best for the whole eco-system. Like here in Sweden we've got like half a million of moose and a bunch of deers but not many bears, wolves, wolverines, bobcats, .. can you figure out why? .. "We've gotta maintain the balance! Look how many deers there is!" "Oh no 200 wolves are too many!!" I was going to say one more thing what was it? ... Well, regardless people who fish for instance still catch their eel even though there's just about none left. I assume the goal of these fish drops is to supply the fishers with fish. Not to keep the eco system in the lakes healthy and like it would be in a hands off state.

Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin currently animal (consequently human) gene editing is not even developed enough to be used in the meat we eat so yes, there still is no such thing as GMO fish.
Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin “GM fish are used in scientific research and kept as pets. “ I’m not saying GM fish doesn’t exist, I’m saying that they’re not actually eaten or sold for consumption*yet*. It’d be foolish to worry about that stuff because firstly it isn’t approved for consumption yet and GMO’s aren’t even a bad thing.
The 5% dying serve as starting food for the surviving fish...fish are vicious they will eat each other. I have been an aquarist my whole life...and I approve this message.
I get that you're in your feelings about it, but this is just one of those things that people have had to work around for decades. The fish in that lake were probably gone many years ago, and all they're doing is taking fish from a local hatchery and placing them there. Essentially if it were your way, fishing would cease to exist all together.
@@aassyyatheend1201 So you are from Utah...aaaaand you went tho those lakes...aaaand you saw hurt fish from these drops because you say you know it can hurt them.
This sterile part is what bothers me. If it's restocking to what it naturally was then I don't think those fish were naturally sterile to begin with. Sounds like somebody wants to make money yearly, Monsanto for fish's Maybe?
@fenton bevan genetic modification isn't bad. There are cases where it can be proven that some gmos are only beneficial to us and not detrimental at all. So, I want to eat genetically modified food.
@fenton bevan Unless the genes modified causes the fishes to produce unwanted chemical, it is safe to eat. Stop thinking GMO's are inherently poisonous, it all depends on the purpose and method of modification. If the fishes are modified to be sterile, it most likely modified to produce infertile sperm or eggs, the meat itself would be unaffected. Hell, humanity has been eating GMO's for millennias, from the first time a plant and animal is bred for desirable traits, it is genetically modifying them to our liking. Here's an article of that myth and reality: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3615871/ No adverse health or effect after 2 billlions of acres planted. It is just making the plants more efficient in growing the most important part: food. Though I agree that if they want to they could just leave the fertility part behind if the actual goal is to keep the fishes stocked. Monsanto is a commercial company doing it for higher profits, it's not in their interest to spend research funds on unprofitable ventures.
@Yamel Camel they just said it's underpopulated, that's why they restock. If they don't know if it's under populated or over populated then they need to stop wasting tax payers dollars on their crony capitalism. Cancel the restocking until they know what's going on, and don't restock with sterile fish!
They do it for ecosystem. If they didn't the ecosystem of the lake would go to complete shit. It's the same reason why you don't throw a goldfish in a lake, because one day that goldfish will turn into a big ass carp and eat everything in the lake. It's also a huge huge fine and jail time if you try stocking the lake yourself, because you can actually put a fish in there that doesn't belong in there and can wipe out the whole lake.
You know that spiders and other small animals won't get hurt of falling because of air resistance? A fish is bigger of course but small fishes like that will get slowdown pretty much and because they are like only 1% of a humansize the surface they would hit is of course only 1% of what a human will hit. Like you know what I mean if you jump straight into the water there is less resistance from the water than if you would jump in hitting the water while basically laying. So the fishes basically don't feel shit
"Without these aerial fish dumps, the state's high-altitude southern and central lakes would be fishless (because of fishing by hikers, et al)." ...and the fish used to restock are sterile, to avoid overpopulation. Is the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources the wrong place to look for logic?
No, farm fished are essentially mentally challenged fish compared to ones raised in a lake. Even if you bred the local ones and dumped them into the lake to help them breed it wouldnt work because the farmed ones are not suited to live in the wild. It's like if you raised a child in isolation then dropped them off at the mall and told them to make friends. It just wouldnt happen. Soo because people want to fish we stock the lakes with idiot fish that will get caught thus protecting the local fish from overfishing. Yes its dumb because the simple answer would be for people just to respect nature and let it do its thing
The lakes would be fish less because they dont naturally have fish in them, and they dont typically stock those lakes with the sterile fish, they usually use Brook trout for those. The sterile fish (Tiger trout usually) are stocked in places that naturally do have fish, but they dont want the stocked fish to populate and drive the native fish out of their habitat. So they use sterile fish to support the fishing but not injure the Ecosystem. This video did an absolutely horrible job of explaining jack squat about the way that the DWR goes about stocking these lakes. Whoever made it did a pretty garbage job😂
Imagine you are one of those buddys, first you are in the dark, then a hatch opens and air and blinding light shocks you, I don't know man, if I would be able to reproduce after a rollercoaster like that hahaha
The hornwort of hornwort If most fish died from stress they would all die from catch and release... It’s not exactly like the fish you keep in a tank that needs the perfect ph, etc. they are used to pretty stressful situations considering they’re constantly trying not to get eaten.

@@lewiscliffe434 Doesn't seem very precise, I don't know why that would happen to duplicate a specific chromosome and if it really do alter things then why not a bit of random things?

In 30 years we are going to start teleporting fish into lakes
We believe 99% of the fish survives from the teleportation. We used aeroplanes before which many things could go wrong.
I don't think so because they won't need to restock. People will just teleport fishes to their home. Home fishing.
Not even in 3000 years.
They can teleport them into my kitchen too
@@MrRazorblade999 Actually with our current technological advances we might figure and perfect teleportation in 1 or 2 centuries. I mean we have already technically manged cloning and if we keep at it, give us 5-8 decades we might get better at that too.
So basically our "natural" lakes where we go fishing, in tune with nature, is just one big manmade fishing Disneyland?

I get that you're in your feelings about it, but this is just one of those things that people have had to work around for decades.
Here's an article of that myth and reality:
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3615871/
No adverse health or effect after 2 billlions of acres planted.
@@gwaiwohng2181 yea restocking with sterile fish is the dumbest idea xD
They do it for ecosystem. If they didn't the ecosystem of the lake would go to complete shit. It's the same reason why you don't throw a goldfish in a lake, because one day that goldfish will turn into a big ass carp and eat everything in the lake. It's also a huge huge fine and jail time if you try stocking the lake yourself, because you can actually put a fish in there that doesn't belong in there and can wipe out the whole lake.
I like the way they make it sound like people are trying to help when it’s a problem they create.
they literally just take the money from fishing licenses and put more fish in. it's just so people can enjoy fishing.
People fish. we make more fish for people to fish. Whats the problem?
Damn that bass drop
Sucks to be that one fish that hits the belly of the plane right after being thrown out of it
@Dack Hacksaw they get slowdown by the air
@@cristobalcaro3392 they get slowed down even harder when they hit the water
@Dack Hacksaw Ah I fear so also!
That is crazy to watch the fish being dropped out of the airplane.

"Without these aerial fish dumps, the state's high-altitude southern and central lakes would be fishless (because of fishing by hikers, et al)."
...and the fish used to restock are sterile, to avoid overpopulation.
"Something wrong". Sterile to avoid overpopulation, otherwise the lake would be fishless without the drops. Awe ok!!???
@@gustavohopkins242 so by your definition they are killing fishes in the thousands because they are breeding them to be dropped at a lake.
@@abramslion1 yes, unless there are no predators for these fish
The lakes would be fish less because they dont naturally have fish in them, and they dont typically stock those lakes with the sterile fish, they usually use Brook trout for those. The sterile fish (Tiger trout usually) are stocked in places that naturally do have fish, but they dont want the stocked fish to populate and drive the native fish out of their habitat. So they use sterile fish to support the fishing but not injure the Ecosystem. This video did an absolutely horrible job of explaining jack squat about the way that the DWR goes about stocking these lakes. Whoever made it did a pretty garbage job😂

The experience looks pretty darn stressful to me, some of the fish probably would have died from stress.
The hornwort of hornwort If most fish died from stress they would all die from catch and release... It’s not exactly like the fish you keep in a tank that needs the perfect ph, etc. they are used to pretty stressful situations considering they’re constantly trying not to get eaten.
