I got told off by my manager for ordering 150 copies of this in the record shop I worked in. They all sold in a week, and it was out of stock at Vinyl Distribution the next week. Never did get an apology for that ;)
Whenever I’m mixing for ppl who don’t really know dnb this is the go to to take them down the deep well of filth the transition from chill vibey roller to absolutely dirty filth is just unbeatable the look on their faces as that mean baseline starts to claw it’s way into the mix is priceless so much love
These tunes remind me of when I was a kid and me and my best friend would go back 2 back on the decks and mic. Miss those days man. Rip Keiron Stevens 1983-2011
Weird that's what i remember when i listen to this tune. Standing in my mates dark bedroom on the decks mixing the tech step shit while the other Mc's and keep switching and smoking the herbs. great times. Big up yourself and your mate Keiron. He'll be up in heaven rinsing it out with Kemistry, Steve hyper D, Spirit and all the fallen junglist soldiers. RIP.
Not so much the MC'ing but me and my friend used to see how well we could mix into each others tunes. Play 1 or 2 then swap over that was great fun. RIP to your friend such a short life but hope he had a good life.
I love the beginning of this track. Brings back so many memories. I remember spinning this on my brothers technique 1200's. Nothing better then vinyl in my opinion. Damn I wish i had a time machine. These were truly the best days of my life.
In certain ways, the mixdown is actually clearer or at least more even on these old tunes than on modern day stuff. There are strange artifacts and frequencies clashing a little, but bass is actually bass, mids are atmospheric and tops are covered by cymbals and shakers. The whole loudness war has made people forget to make music for the vibe and they're trying to program the loudest clearest mixdowns possible. I enjoy a good clear mix, but if the tune doesn't get you moving, what's the point?
Daniel Vousden Amen. I am so infinitely tired of the production wankfest that happened after Noisa had reigned neuro for a couple of years. All I hear in new techy tunes are kicks and snares. The rest 100% uninspired, perfectly produced garbage.
+Daniel Vousden Agreed. And it's not so much the the analog synthesizers as seems to be the fetish at the moment, as the old analog mixers and processors and such. Although an analog filter certainly doesn't hurt the sound at all.
I had the pleasure of hearing this at a rave first and not from a tape pack. That build up and drop was revolutionary back then. Bad company were game changers!
This was literally heralded as the DnB tune of the year when it came out by everyone - the people and the underground media. Fresh was the genius in this group - he went on to achieve crazy stuff in an ultra passionate scene. A non-commercial, monoculture full of free people who loved dirty, raw music and, of course, drugs.
Heard this in the late nineties when I used to tape Fabio and Grooverider’s 2 till 4am radio show on late radio one. It is in my drawer somewhere gathering dust. I still remember, I think, Fabio introducing as “I’m not sure what this is yet but I’ll find out”. Played it over and over the next day when I listened to the tape
I had the same experience mate. I started working in London around then, used to tape Fab n Groove, listen to them all week until the next show and go to Blackmarket etc every lunchtime to spunk my overdraft
In those days, Marcus intalex how you make me feel, the pulse bad company all brought a different sound. cutslo remix ed rush and optical changed everything IMO. That metallic sound came through on bambaata dillinja remix , hardnoize and all the other bad company tunes. What a great time ! John B up all night, dom and Roland can't punish me. It's that era where the darkstep morphed into an amazing sound.
I used to love double dropping this with... well everything. the percussion during the intro let you get the tempo right and then when the bassline starts quiet at 1:47 you can use that to keep it time so the double drop is perfect. Not just a good tune but a good tune for DJ's to double up with. Classic.
Played this in my car today, I was soaring down the freeway. 🔥 A classic track, remember hearing this track back in 2009, man were those great times, It’s an ease for me to connect and feel the rhythm. There’s just no beating of a classic. Wish there were similar today, at least they exist for me to still enjoy! 😁
Instant chills hearing this, took me right back to when i first heard it and the many days in the garage spinning this track and hearing it on the radio and on mixtapes. Classic!
from the first time I heard this tune almost 20 years ago it has still been my favourite bad company tune. yes I think if I could only have one BC tune it would be this one.

Its crazy how most jungle/dnb from 93-01 still sounds fresher than what came after.
Dom and Roland imagination ❤

This tune will STILL straight up murder a fucking dancefloor to this day. Bad Company at their best, man... absolute all-time classic banger! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Daniel Vousden Dan, you speak my language.
Couldn't agree more bro. Well said 👍
+Daniel Vousden the main reason is the analog switch over, digital doesn't have the warmth.
Producers need to start using old analog synths again
+Daniel Vousden Agreed. And it's not so much the the analog synthesizers as seems to be the fetish at the moment, as the old analog mixers and processors and such. Although an analog filter certainly doesn't hurt the sound at all.

Probably the most timeless of the Bad Co rippers. I find myself liking this one more as time goes by.
