  • "What was an aspect of creating MythBusters that wasn't suitable to be on-screen, but you wish more people knew about?" "How did you develop such a good relationship with the people at the bomb range, fire department and other governmental agencies?" and "How many different myths were you working on at the same time?" I know I thought the, I forget what was called, like synthetic telepathy was an episode I'm guessing more can be detailed... though was controversial. Similar the the brown note episode. There is more to the details to perform the wireless sound, body and mind control effects that unfortunately are assault weapons like being disclosed more in the main stream media as "health attacks" the last few years again... post 1980's disclosures where straight up wireless mind control without implants was demonstrated by Dr. Jose Delgado. Guessing an insurgency using didn't want disclosed in the 80's and makes sense since more international ownership in the U.S. started to happen around then. Profanic Ministries I feel I did on some days man... I know the feeling.

Adam is a good example of someone who has harnessed his ADD powers for good--I mean that in a positive sense. Some people are consumed by scattered thoughts, branching what-if scenarios, or inability to sort the wheat from the chaff, mentally speaking. Adam seems to have lots of scattered thoughts, but is able to categorize and prioritize those thoughts and use them to his benefit. You can see that in the way his workshop is organized. Where some people just have one pile of junk in a big pile, Adam has the same amount of 'stuff', but it's organized and sorted in a way that makes sense to him.

Swearing is a really good tool to express emotion and if you teach kids how and when to use it instead of just saying “don’t swear” you make you kids smarter and you respect the fact that kids aren’t innocent beings. They are people and there is no studies saying that kids swearing is something bad psychologically other than adults that have themselves to blame for cringing when kids swear.

Because they have such similar experience and profession, but the disagree in a normally very mature way, I've thought it would be cool to pit their problem solving skills against eachother in fun ways. They sort of did this on the show, they would each focus on a different route to solve the same problem, and mash something together at the end.
Maybe they could each direct seperate teams of guests, competing in some engineering challenge. Like each episode a different challenge. Example, build a combat robot in 1 day, using only hammers as bot weapons, and clear acrylic for armor/structure.
Or, which team can build the best human powered water pumping device.
      Or human powered electrical generator.
      Most seaworthy duct tape boat.
      Most indestructible briefcase.
      Longest Rube Goldberg machine.
Which team can build the best robot arm out of only wood and rope, to perform tasks.
Losing creations are sent off cement truck style at the end of each episode.

I love two things about this. One is that it's pretty cool hearing about the production process like this. Lots of shows do bonus episodes and specials where they show some behind the scenes stuff, but it's cool to hear about some of the stuff that goes on without any cameras at all, especially because a lot of these things will vary from show to show.
The other thing is that I just think it's a bit interesting that Asam is one of the few people to turn a TV career into a TH-cam career, when most people go the other way. Even other celebrities that have delved into TH-cam don't usually seem to approach it like him/you (depending on who's reading). For most it's like Twitter or Facebook, an additional way to interact with their fans and stay relevant, but Adam had basically gone full TH-camr. At the same time though, I feel like if I were to predict ten years ago which TV names would wind up being big on TH-cam, Adam Savage would definitely be high on the list. He's always seemed like someone who would really flourish under this kind of platform, with more creative freedom and fewer limitations than network TV.
I also appreciate the effort to keep your content kid friendly.

I was an army engineer and in AIT we were introduced to time fuse with bodily injury risk. The DI would burn a length of fuse from a spool and time it for all of us to witness. Then cut the fuse lengths depending on an assigned position on the explosive range. The DI would individually supervise everyone crimping blasting caps, inverting it into a stick of tnt and once everyone was set, each of us ignited our fuse and set the tent at our feet. We weren’t allowed to move until everyone ignited their fuse then we orderly walked off the range. Within 10 minutes each stick blew up within moments of each other

I had nothing less than a smile on my face from ear to ear as you jogged past me to get a volunteer. I don't remember what you said exactly so I'm paraphrasing here, as you jogged past you said something like, "let's get someone from the cheap seats, they paid to be here too" and you physically lifted someone out of the stands at the very end of the building. My smile turned into tears of joy.

What you said about the relationship with the bomb squad, cops, property owners and the other... that rings so true with independent film makers as well. Just showing up and gorilla style filming can make you enemies and not welcome to other locations. Building those relationships makes the difference between being a nuisance and being welcome back. I know some adults who need to learn that lesson because it's not just the high school creators and film school kids making that mistake and making it harder for the rest of us to work.

That would have been cool to see the genuine guts and behind the scenes of "how" the show was made because part of the charm of the show was this feeling like it was just you two (or you 5) running things, filming like you didn't have a massive crew. It made the show more personal. But yes, having an episode that pulled back the curtain would have been really educational for your audience which was what the show was all about.
