    You are the second or third video I've seen on youtube that successfully remove the screen of surface products.
    Basically, 3 out of hundreds (or thousands?) of broken screens.
    I myself tried and broke the screens of two surfaces, a 4 pro & a 3. Hats off to you. Video liked.

      There are loads out there that do it. Heat machines can also do this with ease and you see the parts being sold on eBay and they are not new. I have cracked more than I care to admit but the book ones are much easier than the surface pros. I have also dropped a few, a few have been mid repair and slipped off the shoddy position I have left them and cracked. Tooling is key here, I wish I could afford the proper tools to do it properly. Thanks for your comment and stay safe..

    Hi great work, this video would be useful for a long time. Please do you know the likely cause of the yellow tint on a Surface Book and how to resolve it?

    • @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739
      @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yellow tinting can be pressure heat or just failing screen. It is usually fatal to the screen though so new screen time.

    • @maurobriceno7522
      @maurobriceno7522 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the yellow tint may be the battery swelling, when it swells, it creates pression against the screen making it look yellow.

      If you have dust in your device, I would recommend a professional hoover device or use air. The thermal paste is not affected on the Surface Books for screen repairs. I have seen a number of older Surface Book 1's that used to run really hot so if you have one of these it may be worth investigating the thermal paste.

    one of my book 1 is really bulky on the screen. I mean, if you put it on a flat surface and put a marble on top, it rolls in one direction. @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cannot advise you on the potential dangers of a battery blowing up other than the risk is real and most likely your battery is expanding. You can get it replaced at your cost as you already had the replacement, the screens come off easy enough and the battery is not a hard part to swap once you get the board out. I have personally had many laptops with swollen batteries in readiness for repair or I have purchased then in this stage to repair. I have also popped the battery outer housing with a pin and then put electrical tape over a blob of glue to seal it whilst I wait for a replacement battery to arrive. These all continued to work right up until the battery was replaced. I would only recommend getting the battery repaired or dispose of the unit correctly unless you know what you are doing with these units.

For the book the battery is an easy swap out but you have to take the whole board out so please be careful and remember screen first, then antenna bar then disconnect what you can. Its a fairly simple process to do once you have done a few but the first one will be hard so you may do some damage to the screen. 2 to get to the SSD you can either take the board off properly and spin it or just cut the silver tape around the nvme housing and remove it this way. The latter is easier. 3 - you have to put it back together. If you are happy to do this and accept that even the best engineers caveat the screen may crack give it a go. Arooba Farheen Zonaira If your screen is cracked you have to take the cracked glass out also. The screen has to be replaced. I buy the screens which are complete and I don’t know any other way of doing this.

    • @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739
      @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arooba Farheen Zonaira no it’s completely different. The screen section needs to come out so keyboard section needs opening , heat shield for cpu off shields for connectors on screen taken out and then doner screen installed. You need to find a screen complete for sale as I have no clue how to get the screen out the hosing, if you are in the uk I’d quote to fix close to 350 but you can do an out of warranty with ms and they will charge around 450 and you get a replacement model

    Great video. Very useful.
    I wonder if you can help advise. The touch screen on my Surface Book (1) suddenly stopped working and with it the pen. I have been through all the software fixes I can find online including booting into UEFI. In UEFI it was still not responding,
    From your experience with Surface Books, when and how would you decide the problem is the screen itself? Would you go to the extreme of doing a fresh install of Windows 10 first, as Microsoft are telling me to do? Can you throw any wisdom on this question? Cheers.

    • @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739
      @microsoftsurfacegeekdetail5739  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would go into UEFI and if touch does not work in here then I would say its a hardware problem and if its a SB1 its probably not worth spending the money with MS to get it sorted. If you do not want to do a fresh build you could always create a build using a Win10 ISO and Rufus and select Win2go. The select in the UEFI to boot from USB and then load all the drivers from fresh and see if that works as well. What I have found in my type troubleshooting these things is lots of inconsistencies when it comes to touch but I must admit I do a clean install every time with the recovery image as I have one for each type.
      Let me know how you get on.

      If your screen has lifted it is likely for the known issue of the battery expanding. If you don't replace the battery it will only get worse

    Does anyone know if the screen is identical for Surface Book 3? I got a growing crack in the glass, which otherwise works fine... I only see videos and screens for sale for SB1 or SB2. And I also see mostly, or all, 13.5" screens for sale with no 15" :(
    I let it be for a while but now the glass is looking like pieces will start falling out if I were to put pressure on it (up near the top center along the black area.
    I would rather replace the screen or glass than send my main computer back to Microsoft for a replacement for >$600 but that may be the only option.
    I assume that once chunks of glass fall out it is a rapidly worsening situation lol maybe I will be fine without glass, I'll just cover it in plastic wrap! lol JK

      Hi - the 15" screens are much more expensive than the 13.5" screens, I am not sure though if a replacement will do. You could get some glass glue and place it in the crack to try and stop it growing but I whould honestly recommend that as you have the 15" model its probably a bit more expensive so pay your out of warranty fee rather than trying to fix it as if you get it wrong and break any of the buttons or the antennas, its going to be a harder fix.
