    I had a 69 Roadrunner back in 1972 when I was a junior in high school. It was a beauty, bucket seats, 4 speed , 383. Dark green with black stripes on the hood. I traded it in 73 for a new Ford pickup. I’ve been kicking myself ever since. 😢

      Jerry, I can really relate to your comments, I bought my 4 speed, green, 383 RR in 1971. Ran it all the time. Traded it in on a 72 corvette 5 yrs later because the passenger side door wouldn't close from my girlfriend angrily slamming it repeatedly! Like you, I wish I never traded it. I enjoyed your post. Bob A.

      Did you trade in for better gas mileage in 1973 ???

    • @jerrys9226
      @jerrys9226 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@gregorylyon1004 no, it was more work related. The f-250 probably got the same or worse gas mileage. Never gave a thought to how valuable these cars would become.

    The 383 was overshadowed by its bigger siblings but it was a workhorse in the Mopar lineup

    I like it when upgrades are done that blend in with the stock appearance of the car. Bigger wheels, but not obnoxiously big. Upgrades to the drivetrain that keep the stock look. Things of that nature

    This in a '68 or a '68 340/4-speed notchback Barracuda would've one MILLION percent been my car if I was in the market in, say, '70-72. 383s and 340s both revved BEAUTIFULLY, breathed well, and made PLENTY of power for reasonably safe fun on the street. I'd probably put a Gear Vendors and 4.10s in it today, I guess you could go 6-speed, but those A833s shifted SO good, not as smooth as modern transmissions, but you have to kinda manhandle them and it's part of the fun and experience. I probably would do disk brakes, as much for ease of maintenance as any other benefit (if I wanted a car that genuinely needed fade-free brakes, I wouldn't look at either of those, haha!). Great car. Probably not even like a Godzillion bucks, even today.

    We got the VIN, we win: R for Belvedere, M for Medium price class (Roadrunner in this case), 21 for two door sedan, H for 383 V8 high performance, 9 for 1969 model year, A for Lynch Road, Detroit, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Lynch Road facility closed in April 1981 and last assembled the "R" body cars.
    We got some of the tag, we can brag: RM21 for Roadrunner two door sedan, D21 for four speed manual transmission, looks like E63 for 383 V8, and if it's the original orange, it's code 999. Tough to read with all that paint buildup like that.

    Any idea why this thing being the bottom basement version of 3 choices has Satellite taillights ? , I'm guessing again has to do with cost keeping it down,look pretty beefy actually compared to the other horizontal double slat lenses. Great knowledgeable information as well that you don't or never hear on other walk arounds of the same manufacturer, Always loved these cars and one day hope to have one in a super great High impact exterior colour of Butterscotch & l forgot the other name Dodge used for the exact same colour.

    Again confusing 1 N96 intake option has 1 option code but 2 very different actual intakes on the hood ? Could have had a separate option code for the so-called coyote duster intake version as you so smartly told us & there wouldn't be any confusion when saying oh yah it has the N96 intake option.

  • @motorh3ad

    what i dont understand is:
    - when a highschool kid that time was able to afford a 3000 dollar roadrunner, why shouldnt they be able to afford a 4000 dollar gtx by just working little bit longer?
    - if i get more power with open airgrabber vents, why would i ever close them? so quite unneeded option, right?
    but in the end i still would like to have a roadrunner, thats for sure 😛

    • @motorh3ad
      @motorh3ad 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jason-hy8ci can you please read what i wrote? your statement does not make sense as an answere to mine. if someone has 3000 dollars to spend on a car, he is also able to wait a bit and spend 4000 dollars.

    • @isaacjones2328
      @isaacjones2328 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@motorh3ad They did read what you wrote, you're just not comprehending. $1000 in 1969 is a big difference. A HS student is going to be wanting to get a car ASAP and the RR is a great package for the price, not only will it probably take another year to scrounge up another 1k for someone in that time, hard for impulsive people such as highschoolers, but there's also the consequence of higher auto insurance. This is the same reason why kids of yesteryear get a wrx instead of an sti, because even thought its only a 10k difference, 10k is actually a lot of money and a wrx is simply much easier to afford.

    • @motorh3ad
      @motorh3ad 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@isaacjones2328 hmm i still dont see it the way you see it. if i can afford something for a specific amount i should also quite easily be able to afford a 1/3rd more expensive option. no difference if its a bicycle, a bike, a car, a boat or a house. but this is my opinion and i accept yours too - just cant understand it.

  • @3406Accert
    @3406Accert 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Again that's another thing I always disliked when they repaint these things they sometimes scew up & flood the fender tag with too much paint to the point it's almost unlegitable. Like this one could not clearly see that intake option number for this thing, because said tag is drowning in paint.
