This fits the death korps of krieg, they are great at attrition warfare and finding cracks in the enemy defenses to which they use raiding parties to exploit and open up for a bayonet charge.
Also they are fueled by the (fear of their enemies eyes) care of their emperor

Another detail that fits with it, the Krieg's are rumored to be considerably younger on average than other guardsman units, which really fits with the line "they were under 25" The real stormtroopers were also comprised of the best men from other units and in a similar idea, given the radioactive, trench warfare coated hellscape they come from and their planets only goal to provide men for the wars, they would have some very capable and VERY hardened soldiers in their units.
@@stevencolor3389 no that is a misunderstanding by fans. kriegers are openly stated at starting recruitment at 15, most other regiments recruit at 14. so the average krieger is probably older than the average guardsmen.

But their not made for rapid deployment though. They are very much dig in and blast away with artillery then charge. Something like hellfighters would better.

Meme Wise they're everything that failed about WW1, lore wise they're supposed to be everything that was Successful about WW1, and their uniforms shout WW1 to me more than WW1 Germans... The French uniform certainly doesn't help in that regard.

It would be awesome to see a movie about a death korps battle (that takes place over months). They keep their helmets and respirators on (halo, take note) and after all the heroic fighting, it ends with the commencement of another siege and entrenchment, but this time, our protag wants to see the face of his closest friend with his own eyes and so he takes off his helmet only to see his own face. It adds a layer of nuance and horror that only fans will understand - the kind that cotifies their disposability in context of the grinding tedium of unending war, and yet kriegers persist.
This sounds fun a movie i would watch . Complete WW1 like war horror film.

the image of DKOK and space marines fighting together, not a squad of tactical with an entire army, just marines and DKOK together one for one, against the forces of chaos. I see a marine falling and a wounded Krieger ditching his lasgun to get off even one shot with the dying marine's bolter, knowing it will do more than he could, shattering his arms in the process yet clearing the way for their comrades. the marine using the last of his strength to roll over and bump the Krieger's shoulder, dying as brothers in arms, lives spent for their fellow brothers, for their Emperor, for their Imperium.
This goes so perfect with the song. Feels like the Death Korps of Krieg is getting more and more redeemed in the emperors eyes by the minute.
I am new to Warhammer 40k. Do they not fight for the emperor? Whose side are they on?
They fight for the Emperor, more than any other Astra Militarum. The Nobility rebelled on the Planet of Krieg. The Rebels lost, but at the cost of the entire planet becoming a world of Toxic Wastes. The loyal forces live underground on the Planet Krieg and give homage to the Emperor by dying for him. The Loyal forces feel ashamed that their planet once rebelled against the Emperor and the Imperium of Man, so they fight harder than anyone else in order to redeem themselves in the Emperors Shining Light.

@@jestertheslacker (ik that im 9 months late but oh well) they do indeed fight for the emperor its just that they're seeking forgiveness for their planet's sins as their planet fucked up and declared independence which resulted in nuclear war that ended in loyalist victory securing the planet for the imperium once again

Well, i think its our, Russian variations of uniform, because only in our army still have trench shovels and bayonet knives on AK 74.....
@@3JIou00DYX No, the Death Korps isn't based on the Russian uniform from any era. Their aesthetics are a combination of the German and French uniforms from WWI. There are actually two Imperial Guard regiments based on the Russian Army--the Vostroyan Firstborn (based on the Imperial Russian Army of WWI and Cossacks), and the Valhalla Ice Warriors (based on the Red Army in WWII).
Second, _every_ army still issues entrenching tools and bayonets. It's not just the Russian army. Most armies also manage to keep their troops well-supplied with ammo, food, and spare parts, though.

As someone who plays Krieg on the table top this is supper appropriate. You have hit one major threat like a hammer with artillery, tanks and moving in with the infantry every turn if you want to win. Absolutely no splinting focus allowed.
You know, thinking about it, having a song about the tactics designed to defeat trench warfare playing over footage of the guardsmen who specialize in trench warfare has some level of irony to it that I quite like.

The year is 42 thousand, and the hundreds-of-years part of the date is a matter of where you're measuring from. Humanity has been a spacefaring species for at minimum 30,000 years. As a result, warfare we IRL know to be 'conventional' has had plenty - and I mean PLENTY - of time for refinement.
The Death Korps are a regiment type tithed to the Imperium of Man from the planet of Krieg. German as a language is long, long dead, just like English, so planets' names meaning in languages we recognize are "vanished into history". For comparison of just how displaced things are, to the Imperium of Man (galaxy-spanning empire) we IRL are somewhere like what the Sumerians are to us.
The Death Korps of Krieg are attrition warfare specialized, and so the closest comparison we have for them is our WWI. Not only are there full-auto laser weapons and advanced tanks, you really need to be aware that ships in orbit supporting a battle are what makes ground armies not able to be swacked by that ultimate high ground.
There simply exist targets that can't be taken down by big guns alone. Or, it makes no sense to spend/risk very big, very precious warmachines to wreck them.
There simply are some days when nothing gets the job of wrecking something done as well as a strike at zero hour with overwhelming firepower by a shock-troop infiltration.
It's pretty stupid to say the Kriegsmen are the only siege warfare experts of the Imperium. But I'll just say, even Holy Terra - the blessed cradle of the human race - looks on Krieg very fondly.
The Death Korps have made their home **galactically** famous for the quality of their regiments they pay their tithe to the Imperium with. And so, they have met the golden standard that is warranted by all sons of our homeworld.

@@ZFire2020 your right, death korp is based on ww1. They embody every nation of ww1. As there gear is a mix of it all. Helment french and german, coat french, shovel and bayonet is german, and gas mask I am pretty sure is a mix of British and American I think.

My only gripe about this is that it should actually be featuring the Cadian Shock Troopers! Or, at least, the Tempestus Scions Storm Troopers! But the Death Corps of Krieg aren't so bad! Kudos to you, Dude!
I think the new song of Hellfighters from Sabaton fits the imperial guard or the cadians more in general. Hence, I put stormtroopers here with the death korps. But I do agree it could easily fit other regiments too!

@@fredhercmaricaubang1883 aesthetically, its correct. The Kriegsman design is based off the WW1 german stormtrooper, and Stormtrooper song by Sabaton is also about them.
