    Thank you Kim for your advise of ease of making & sizing. I’ve not made a cardigan before but will go with your advise regarding the Love Notions pattern. I have three pattens downloaded from Love Notions (ones you have recommended) & am impressed with the clear, precise instructions so far. My first chalenge was to download the patterns, not done this before & am looking forward to making them. Once I have mastered my overlocker, hoping my sewing with knitted fabrics will be ok! Thank you, your videos are not only helpful & clear but full of tips.

    Mr. Rodgers was and is still Such a hero of mine. I love that you dedicated this video to him. I'm also a big fan of cardigans, thanks for the round up.

    I haven't made any of these but looking at the Blackwood on your mannequin, I think it's one that I will definitely make.

    I recently made the boyfriend cardigan for both myself and my step daughter, she hasn't gone a day without it since! Really straight forward and we love them. I sized up trying to get that oversized feel, but didn't consider the arms, daughters looks fine in sweater knit but mine in French Terry, the arms just... Meh.i shouldn't have sized up, maybe that's just my preference. Super cozy and easy to put together though :)

    I’ve been so excited for this video, Kim. I have the Boyfriend Cardigan pattern but haven’t had a chance to make it yet. I’m looking forward to making several cardigans and want to try some of the other patterns you spoke about as well. You did a great job reviewing these, very thorough and professional. Your channel has become my number one favorite! God bless, Linda

    Thanks, Kim, for these cardigan reviews. I'm always at a loss when it comes to fabrics for the sweater patterns, as I don't do well with the clingy fabrics. You, on the other hand, look terrific in each of your cardis, no matter what the fabric!!

      So sorry to respond so late- ive been traveling. I think sizing up a little in cardigans helps them not to cling. Definitely some look better on than others, LOL

    Thank you so much for your most detailed and informative review! I also appreciated knowing more about fabric choices for these. Would you be able to do a how to video on bicep adjustment? I plan on making the Blackwood cardigan and know for a fact that I will need to do a bicep adjustment. Thank you again!

      So sorry to respond so late- I’ve been graveling for the holiday. I demonstrated a full bicep adjustment in this video (it was even on the Blackwood pattern);

    Thank you for the reviews- I wear cardigans daily in the winter as classrooms are chilly here. I’m always looking for good patterns. There is a new movie coming out (maybe it’s already out?) about Mr. Rogers. I grew up watching him as did so many others. He was the very definition of a kind, compassionate, decent person.
    *I just checked- the movie has been out for a while now. It’s called “A beautiful day in the neighborhood” and stars Tom Hanks. I seldom watch tv or movies but saw a trailer on you tube that caught my attention. It looks like a good one.

    I've cut out a cardigan of a pattern from the 60's before kwick sew pattern,called Sew - Knit - N- Stretch,Inc by Kertstin Martensson. Copyright 1968. I had been sewing then as twelve year old. It and the Kwick .Sew at that time Designed by Kerstin Martensson also was about late 60's. I've not sewed them yet as they are cut out ready to sew. Theses patterns have the traditional cardigan with buttons. And stretch bands bottom fronts and neck with buttons. I took another sweater and removed ribbing for use on new sweater! Could not find a pattern till today when u showed sweater with buttons.

    I like a button band on my cardigans. The Canyon is my favourite look, do you think the front edges are suitably shaped for adding a button band? Apart from that it would be a good one for colour blocking too. Nice review Kim.

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to respond so late- I’ve been traveling. Thank you so much! Yes, I think you could do a button band. I think I’d size up to be sure it would overlap.

    This was very interesting! :) When you purchase a pattern such as the Blackwood does it come marked in multiple sizes or one?

    • @dorothysdaughtersews

    Thank you for this review. I have the Harper downloaded but as a beginner am not sure about making it now. Would you consider doing a cardigan sew along, including advice on what type of fabrics to use please?

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would probably steer you toward the Blackwood. Not sure if Helen does this, but a lot of pattern companies have Black Friday sales. As for a sew along, I think that’s a wonderful idea! I still have one more to make as a Christmas gift for my mother in law. Shall I walk you all through that after the men’s shirt?

      Dorothy’s Daughter. I will keep my eyes open on Black Friday, thank you Kim. Oh that would be wonderful! Thank you so much. Thanks to you giving me confidence I have made a LN Classic Tee. It was so good to sew it whilst watching your instruction.

    What kind of fabric would you suggest for the blackwood cardigan since it calls for at least 40% stretch so fleece would not work for that or could it?

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some fleece is definitely stretchier than others. The minky type is stretchier-it’s almost a French Terry. It depends on how warm you need it to be. I like Double Brushed Poly or French Terry.v
