  • Find out what I'm doing in my no dig garden in early March, and why I haven't posted videos for a few weeks.

I am an experienced no dig kitchen gardener and garden and food writer, teaching how to grow food year round and what you can do with it when it has grown! I have been growing my own veg for over 30 years from pots in a tiny courtyard in Yorkshire to just under 1/2 acre in Wales, and using no dig methods for over 14 years. I’ve created and run no dig gardens for private estates, restaurants and other public venues, and worked in market gardens (on and off) for 12 years. In 2021 I project managed and designed the RHS No Dig Allotment Demonstration Garden at RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival.

Hello Stephanie, you sound fully recharged, with the back drop of all the veg growing successfully while you have been away.

Great to have you back! 🇨🇦❤️👍🇨🇦❤️. You mention extended cold weather. I think you’re spot on in your diction. Here, we can have what we call mild winters but we still can’t overwinter what uk gardeners overwinter. The issue is that when we go to sub zero temps, we pretty much stay there for three months. Thanks Frances. That period of deep cold is very unusual for the UK. I am hoping that it is a one-off and not an annual occurrence but of course we can't possibly know - and so I will be covering all based next winter!

Hi Stephanie, how do we find out that these things are on as with the Carmarthen 'do'? I've only just found out that Lampeter has a seed Library.

Joining the local Facebook pages helps. I usually put the ones I am involved with on social media and my website too. The next seed library is in Lampeter this Saturday, that's a good place to find out more local things and also pop in your diary that the Cymru Permaculture festival is near Lampeter 1-3 September. The info isn't published yet, but I am one of the speakers and also helping organise the event.

They are a superbly designed tool, at least the old ones are. They make light work of many tasks. I've turned and carted in several tons of hay in a season with a pitchfork, plus used it to feed that hay out in winter.
This week I used a pitchfork to shift about 10 cubic metres of wood chips that some jokers had dumped in my gateway!!
