The story of how Troy and CHON first played together is pretty wild. Basically Thomas was the only member of the fall of Troy to make it to SXSW to perform so CHON filled in with no rehearsal. Thomas was visually skeptical when introduced the band, but as soon as they jumped into the first song he cracks a smile of relief.
I like how the guitarist in green is hardly moving with no visible sweat then they switch to the drummer and it looks like he was just pushed into a pool...
This is the closest this song will ever be to studio, There is the back up guitar, The Chorus chord progression played by Mario and the chord rhythm played by the other guy in the mosh part. I love it.
@@pinkerton9761 Hell yeah, 2.0 was a banger! But I guess I grew used to the original, and it's still my favorite due to nostalgia value. Damn straight, brother, good to see more DGD fans too!
lots and lots of practice. Geddy Lee said his method for learning to perform live is that he just sits down and plays the songs for a few hours, working on playing it right while focusing on other stuff (like just having a conversation with someone) and then learning the lyrics backwards and forwards. I don't know if Thomas Erak has a similar method, but that's just giving an idea of how he might learn the songs
Lots of practice and muscle memory. It will come naturally. Learned this song when I was like 17 or so and I guess I learned the lyrics first and then once you learn them perfect, you learning the riff is a little more easier
Lol. Yea it may seem that way when you primarily know him from Chon. He used to be in some metal band a few years ago and you could clearly see him head banging and moving quite a bit. I guess he changes his demeanor based on the music he's playing at the time
+Melty Milk Shake (Darry Outsider) it's the end of the set, he has to play guitar, the audio is shit, he was jumping around so he was out of breath. It's amazing he could sing at all.
+Bradybrunch I want Tim to sing more. His singing voice is so powerful. And it blends well with Thomas' sly cat snarly singing he does sometimes. Like on the nirvana cover they released.
So good. I really don't like CHON as much since he left. I know that's shitty to say, and it's totally irrational - but I feel like the live presence of the band took a huge dive when he left.
+Michael Quinonez chon started with both guitarist Erik and Mario and little brother Nathan drew actually came in a while later but before they had other bassist but overall I think drew had a big impact on the band since he did the vocals of ecco and can't wait which made chon complete you know but I've been following them since 06 they're all talented man
Arturo Monroy I get it, but I saw them post-Drew and it just wasn't the same. I'll always still see the band when they come around, but I stand by the fact that I feel that he added so much to their live shows. I still look forward to the future of CHON, though, and hope they continue to be as awesome as they are now.
Ran into Thomas Erak while he was touring with Chiodos on Warped Tour, and all I can say is what an incredibly humble and talented mf. The FIRST thing I asked about was The Fall Of Troy because they were on hiatus... after hearing him talk I'm confident he ALWAYS has TFoT fans in mind!
Think about being that 2nd guitar player and having to learn these parts. Jesus the pressure. Even just being a member of this band would be the most difficult thing I could ever imagine

Dear Fall Of Troy,
Please Never ever ever break up again!
Sincerely all of you fans!
If tim can keep his shit together maybe they won't.
Tim? As far as understood it was Thomas fault.
dude i don't care what somebody says to you, you don't do what tim did. That's lame.
what did he do?
Kevin Franco got drunk and pissed at thomas and destroyed his bass and walked off stage for the rest of the show :(
"we are CHON Troy" lmfao that's beautiful
Could have gone with Fall of Chon. Missed opportunity IMO.
@@mind0killer well tbf we did get the fall of chon

That would be awesome to see, hope someone recorded it
It's gotta be a wild experience as an artist to come face-to-face with another band that knows your songs by heart.
awesome, love'em together, so great!
Yo, it was recorded, search Thomas Erak ft Chon, they even did a Nirvana cover 🤣

How the hell do you play those riffs and sing at the same time?!?!?
Practice

I can’t stop listening to that little riff he added at 1:23
I've always found it amazing Thomas can sing and play that riff
I can't even pat my head and rub my stomach at the same...
2:17 goosebumps
3:12 the most Mario has ever moved at a live show
XDD

They should start a new band, chon troy is fucking badass.
I love it, after all these years the drummer still rocks a zill bell upside down one his ride. Remember every late 2000's drummer had one?
Will Reynolds Mr Marco Minnemann uses em for like every cymbal hahaha he's such a beast, check out The Aristocrats if you haven't already!
I do remember that! Lol
The Fall of CHON
Yes! I thought the same thing.
I personally like CHONTroy better
Saw Chon and Fall of Troy re-united in Columbus, OH. Best concert ever.

My mind is runnin' outta gas, just relax and recap, and relapse
Tonight, my body's jumpin' and I
Go through the motions, and I'm leaving on this journey
Maybe someday, I'll come running home to you
I don't wanna see the day, my words cannot make it safe
(Come running home, come running home) her heart in my hands
It's too bad, no regrets
I don't wanna see the day, her tears are falling on my grave
(Come running home, come running home) this is my one chance
To take back no regrets

We'll drive till the love that's in your eyes
Drops to the ground and unravels like a thread
I know that you really wanna go
