- THIS IS A NON-PROFIT VIDEO MADE PURELY FOR FUN I love the new Superman film so passionately and am sick of people bashing it and saying how it's not a true Superman film. This confusing clash between the critics and fans over this film seems unwarranted in my opinion and I believe the film speaks for itself. Due to my love for the original Superman films, I've created a new trailer for them synched to the style of the new Man of Steel film in an attempt to prove this tone works for the character despite what some may say. I also love seeing a modern take on the classic tone of the originals as well :) Enjoy!

The MCU....All the Batman, Spiderman, X Men iterations...all the various network and streaming TV series....none were possible or conceivable without this film coming first. You can go back and see something new and subtle in Christopher Reeves portrayal each time you watch it. I've been a Henry Cavill fan since The Tudors and I think he did a fine job with the part and made it his own apart from Reeve. But what Reeve did had a particular magic. It's such a smart brilliant performance. Oscar caliber.
Christopher Reeve will always be my favorite Superman! My kids are all under 18 and they like the old movies!
Great mashup! I honestly love "Man of Steel" just as much as I love the 1978 movie. They're both great interpretations of comic books' greatest hero.

You know silverlightsaber, I totally agree with you, Man of Steel is very close to the Superman that was rebooted by John Byrne, having read Death of Superman, Trial of Superman, and a number of 1980s and 1990s Superman graphic novels, Man of Steel does a good job of capturing Superman as written by that era, I can respect the Christopher Reeve films as funny and the first, but I still enjoyed Man of Steel, I felt some people looked at it with some rose-colored lenses.

To be honest, this classic Superman-movie is so much better in many ways than Man of Steel. The story is so much better and Reeve was a perfect actor as Superman and Clark Kent. Terence Stamp also did an awesome performance as General Zod. Marlon Brando as Jor-El, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, and Margot Kidder as Lois Lane were also great in these old movies. Director Richard Donner really did a great job all the way!
This was just absolutely fantastic! These well placed choices of clips and dialogue you made of what was supposed to be another Donner-style version of the Man of Steel trailer and transformed it into your own. Well done Silver, well damn done.

You know the most amazing thing about this score is that it's truly timeless. There's another video that tries to do the same thing but with the John Williams theme for man of steel instead. And it just doesn't work. But this just shows that this score can work with Anything superman related. People get into fights over which one is better. Kind of unnecessary if you ask me tho the original theme is so iconic but I think this is more epic. As its shown in the video. Absolutely love this video. And forgive me keyboard crusaders but this is better then the original theme imo. Lol I can already hear the pitchforks and torches being lit by John Williams diehard fans. The feeling of uselessness. That turns old superman fans... Cruel lol

The MoS trailer promised hope and love and after being disappointed at its lack of understanding the source material, I was beyond thrilled by this reimagining of the trailer using the greatest Superman! Well done sir!!
I think it shows quite clearly why people were mesmerized by the MoS trailer (the music) while also highlighting why it was so clear to ppl like myself that the MoS movie was going to be the dark and angry mess it was (i.e., b/c none of the positive and happy visuals in this were anywhere to be seen in the actual MoS trailer).
It's really quite the testament to Zimmer's work.
In sum: nicely done.
Amazing, Jor-El's speech to Clark is one of my favorites. It fit perfect with this trailer. Awesome to see you doing something other than a versus every once and a while, always a treat.

There is no 1930s Superman specials. Perhaps you are referring to the 1948 serials or the 1941 Max Fleischer animated shorts. I believe neither one Superman said "Never fear! Superman is here!". In the both he said " This looks like a job for Superman ! "

Storywise, it takes itself serious and shows the proper backstory for Kal and Clark before Superman. When they find out a Superpowered alien exist they don't assume "we have found our champion!" its "HOLY F*CK HE CAN FLY CALL THE MILITARY!" Lois actually uses damn good reporting skills to tracks every story of Superman back to his house... and she doesn't have a memory erasing kiss at the end of MoS.

I agree. I thoroughly enjoyed MoS. I feel that they had to make changes to the Superman most people are used to. If they kept him the same people would complain that he has not changed. I have also watched this movie a few times looking for times where Superman puts people in harms way and they are not there. Let's see the sequel and how the city of Metropolis reacts to Superman before we cast our judgement. Maybe there will be some resentment towards him. Enter Lex Luthor
Good job. The first two movies and Man of Steel are the only Superman movies I like. Man of Steel is my favorite and it's not just because it's action packed. Hopefully the sequel will develop the characters more and maybe it will have less action.
Tried browsing some of these comments, and wow do some people need to relax.
Obviously Man of Steel is going to be compared to the originals. But at the end of the day, it has to stand on its own, just as Batman Begins did 8 years ago. This is not the Superman of the comics, or any previous movies. This is fresh and new, not a retread. I went in with an open mind, and enjoyed the film for what it is: a different interpretation of the character, and a chance to see him cut loose and kick ass. : )
Didn't you see Superman 1 ? He did stop the 2 nukes by reversing the rotation of the earth and turning back time. As I asked before please send me a message instead of commenting here so we don't flood silverlightsaber's comment section. At least have some respect for him.

lovely! makes me remember all the things that were awesome about the 1978 film besides the cheesiness - reeve was great,margot kidder was an awesome lois - stamp owned Zod (if only he could have been a more rounded character) and the inspirational lines from Jor-El were actual really awesome from Brando

BTW if you havent seen the Richard Donner cut of Superman 2, please go watch it, it is by far a better film and follows the first film much more cleanly.

Awesome work on this. Goes to show Zimmers score does suit supes. Its more dominant than the original but I believe they can both co exist and both be loved by young and old. I love the original films as well as the new one and my dad feels the same. New supes for a new generation. I am sure the characters will improve in the sequel

I was thinking of doing a Superman fan trailer, using Hans Zimmer's score for Man of Steel. I then remembered that I'd seen one before...aaaages ago. Was it any good? Couldn't recall. Bet it wasn't. Quick search. Found it (this). Watched it again.

I agree that it's more serious but I could of used more back story. What was the reason for the wandering? What went on all those years? Why does he love humanity? I wonder what the 3 hour cut of this film was like. Lois reporting skills are a stretch. I like that she finds out who he is but the problem now is that the military should be able to do the exact same investigation. Especially with Kal-el telling the general "I'm from Kansas General" is that not a lead? still love the original tho

so uh one questions : why you guys keep complaining about man of steel anyway?is a good but not as great as Donner's movies,but why you keep complain about it?
The thing is, we all know Superman Origin story thanks to Superman 1, TAS, Smallville, which is why its not focused on so much.
Why the wandering? Because he wanted to learn from humanity, and everytime he revealed his powers he had to leave to protect himself. Lois is a stretch but its easily a million times better than the original Lois who can't see past the glasses.
He says "I grew up in Kansas" and he's smashing their drones, keeping them from find "where he hangs his cape".
How is saving people making things worse ? All he had to do is catch people who where falling out of building on his way to fight Zod. They were right there on his way, he could have stopped for a second. In the comic the Kents taught him help others first. In fact in this movie Pa Kent told him not to fight the bullies. You don't know Superman very well if you think he would rather fight than save people. And I've asked you to message me as to not flood silverlightsaber's comment section.
Take a shot everytime Zod in MoS says 'I will find him'.
Take a shot everytime Zod in SM2 says 'Kneel'.
