Yeah, they got it wrong. So, what happened is that Michael and David (the FBI agent) had a plan to "kill" Michael and ACTUALLY kill Trevor. As you can see, Brad got shot cause he accidently walked in front of Trevor at the last second. Trevor was supposed to get killed (or maybe just shot and sent to prison) because he was a liability and, quite frankly, a psychopath that Michael didn't want his family to be a part of. He knew Trevor wouldn't let Michael just retire because if Trevor is around, he is constantly being crazy.
Well, to be fair, it always starts you out against enemies that don't... Really attack back. Especially Dark Souls 1. Dark Souls 2-3, not so much. They can kill you. But there are messages on the ground that tell you what's what.

It's largely historical to flight simulator gamers who use joysticks - like real pilots, one pulls back the stick to pitch the airplane upwards, while pushing the stick forward noses the airplane down. I played so many flight sims in my youth there's no way I could "invert" my brain for other game genres.
Look I'm just used to moving not only the plane but my view as well like that. And as Onyx said above me it just feels right mechanically, otherwise I'll have the camera swinging all over the place just trying to focus on one thing (c'mon Bayonetta, work with me here!)

You do realize that whole sequence is a tutorial, right? As the game introduces you to things like lockpicking, stealth, magic, and basic combat one at a time.

I remember when I was little trying to play the first Medal of Honor Frontline level on my uncles original Xbox and always getting killed trying to move up the beach. I mean that level was REALLY hard if you were 7. I only beat that level when I was about 10 but only got like halfway through the game because by that time better, more modern games were out like COD 3 and such. It still is a big part of my childhood though. Btw that music in the backround gave me a lot of nostalgia :0

How is Final Fantasy X not here? 5 minutes into the game A hulking mass of a monster comes to your city, destroys multiple sky scrapers and launches an army of fiends off it's back to kill everyone while you're trying to figure out who this guy is that's telling you your long lost dad wants you to go with him then he gives you a sword from your dad and you start fighting said fiends until the bridge you're on starts breaking apart and debris from the bridge and all the destroyed buildings start floating in the air until towards the massive monster as the guy grabs you then starts talking to the monsters then you get teleported to some random temple ruins with killer fish. That's some of the most "thrown into the deep end" shit ever!
What about the last of us? Not even 2 minutes after a short cutscene, the apocalypse has begun, stuff is exploding left,right,center,above,and below,people are getting their guts ripped out at a whispering distance,and one of the only family you have left bleeds to death in your arms.
Airborne was a good one too, and pacific assault! I couldn't install MoH:AA because the install crashed at the file PAK3.pak I was really dissapointed.

Rewatching old videos and I've been playing Control this week. You come in apparently for a Janitorial job, immediately find a corpse and a gun that mean you're the boss now and, surprise! Glowing mind control soldiers are shooting at you. There's very little build up. I was completely taken unaware when I walked out of the directors office and into a firefight and died immediately.
I'm amazed they didn't mention Dark Souls or Demon's Souls, or the Witcher 2, which starts off with you having to kill late-game enemies without much tutorialising.

2:55 They actually started doing that with NFS: Underground, the first one. It gave you a race in a tuned out car before letting you choose your own starter and that's been the tradition in later games as well.
I can't believe they didn't even mention the original Shadow Warrior. Not 10 seconds into the game, you immediately get attacked. No intro, no cutscene, just an enemy jumping through the window to kill you. Ah, good times.

Planetside 2. Even though it's multiplayer only when you first create a new profile and character the game immediately locates the largest battle taking place on the server at the time and drops you right in the middle of it with no tutorial. That was a lot of fun.

Um,,,,Uncharted 2? You start the game barely clinging to both life, consciousness, and might I add, a burning train dangling precariously over a cliffside. Once you've mastered, in the very little time allotted, the aspects of climbing (which is used everywhere in this game), you then reach the cliff, where you're besieged by men with guns chasing you through the snow and the burning wreckage. That counts to me as being dropped off in the thick of it.
I've got one - Darksiders - You start off as the all powerful War with your unlimited Chaos form and then instantly become a sniveling little tiny War with just a sword and nothing else :P
I still remember loading up Planetside 2, creating a character and choosing a server... followed almost immediately by being orbitally dropped into the middle of the most intense battle happening on the available continents. It was quite the start, but then I got fed up with the bad framerate after several hours of playing. Runs better now, but after all this time I can't be bothered now.

How is Final Fantasy X not here? 5 minutes into the game A hulking mass of a monster comes to your city, destroys multiple sky scrapers and launches an army of fiends off it's back to kill everyone while you're trying to figure out who this guy is that's telling you your long lost dad wants you to go with him then he gives you a sword from your dad and you start fighting said fiends until the bridge you're on starts breaking apart and debris from the bridge and all the destroyed buildings start floating in the air until towards the massive monster as the guy grabs you then starts talking to the monsters then you get teleported to some random temple ruins with killer fish. That's some of the most "thrown into the deep end" shit ever!
What about the last of us? Not even 2 minutes after a short cutscene, the apocalypse has begun, stuff is exploding left,right,center,above,and below,people are getting their guts ripped out at a whispering distance,and one of the only family you have left bleeds to death in your arms.
Most of that is just a cutscene though. The actual gameplay eases you in gradually.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault had a much better Omaha Beach mission. It was really hard.

hell yeah it did, fucking hard too get through without almost being killed
but due to medalnf honor allied assault being pc only it didn't spread that far and more people played front line.
Airborne was a good one too, and pacific assault! I couldn't install MoH:AA because the install crashed at the file PAK3.pak I was really dissapointed.

Why only Prototype? Infamous starts right off the bat with Cole Macgrath waking up at ground zero of the Ray-sphere explosion.

Well kida yeah, but InFAMOUS doesn't introduce combat 'till after the opening scene/tutorial. Has value as a scene-setter but doesn't really give the "WODAFUKISHAPENINGHIER" -feels like say GoW2 or Bayonetta.

Actually when I played Bayonetta at a friend's house, I didn't use any fancy anything on the clock. I just held down the fire button. She automatically turns and targets. Just hold the button down and wait for the game to start.

Rewatching old videos and I've been playing Control this week. You come in apparently for a Janitorial job, immediately find a corpse and a gun that mean you're the boss now and, surprise! Glowing mind control soldiers are shooting at you. There's very little build up. I was completely taken unaware when I walked out of the directors office and into a firefight and died immediately.

Dark Souls and Demon's Souls gives you a tutorial, some normal enemies, and a boss at the end of the area. That's extremely basic.

Inverted Y axis is the best! People choose it without even being able to give a reason as to why it feels better, it's instinctive, on a controller at least. For a mouse I use the regular. Whatever though, it's a real non issue... IYA FOREVER!

I honestly love Medal of Honor: Frontline! It's one of my all time favorite games to play and I'm so glad that you guys at outsidexbox put it in this list.
Planetside 2. Even though it's multiplayer only when you first create a new profile and character the game immediately locates the largest battle taking place on the server at the time and drops you right in the middle of it with no tutorial. That was a lot of fun.

Um,,,,Uncharted 2? You start the game barely clinging to both life, consciousness, and might I add, a burning train dangling precariously over a cliffside. Once you've mastered, in the very little time allotted, the aspects of climbing (which is used everywhere in this game), you then reach the cliff, where you're besieged by men with guns chasing you through the snow and the burning wreckage. That counts to me as being dropped off in the thick of it.
I've got one - Darksiders - You start off as the all powerful War with your unlimited Chaos form and then instantly become a sniveling little tiny War with just a sword and nothing else :P

I still remember loading up Planetside 2, creating a character and choosing a server... followed almost immediately by being orbitally dropped into the middle of the most intense battle happening on the available continents. It was quite the start, but then I got fed up with the bad framerate after several hours of playing. Runs better now, but after all this time I can't be bothered now.
